The Senegalese troops are NOT on a mission in The Gambia. They are here in order to have a strategic location from which they can attack MFDC Cassamance. ECOMIG forces from Ghana, Nigeria and others are on a peacekeeping and security mission in The Gambia but not Senegalese. The Senegalese are here for their own self interests. Stop using Gambian soil to launch attacks against the MFDC. We don't want to be pulled into a war between Senegal and Cassamance.

@@siirmohamed4182 I am all for unity but we cannot unite under false pretenses. Senegal used Guinea Bissau, and now they are trying to use The Gambia to help them fight the Cassamance freedom fighters. We do NOT want to be embroiled in your invasion of Cassamance. We are a sovereign country after all. It is only going to be to the detriment of The Gambia if we allow Senegalese forces to use Gambian soil as their base from which to invade Cassamance. We don't want civil unrest and chaos that, at the end of the day, has no single benefit for the Gambia.
Cassamnce being amalgamated or annexed by Senegal has no geopolitical benefit for The Gambia. If anything, it is detrimental. It means you surround us on 3 sides and can control our trade and free movement, except from The Atlantic West Coast. It is not good for a country to be completely surrounded and dominated by another as is Senegal's objective. If Cassamance becomes an independent country, then we can have bilateral relations and a border with 2 countries: Senegal amd Cassamance. This will enhance our free trade and free movement of goods and services, especially with other Subsaharan African countries, boosting the Gambian economy in the process. As it stands now, Senegal controls us, and they can, at any time, decide to unilaterally exert that control, as they have indeed done several times in the past, by closing their borders to us. Then, we are completely isolated from the rest of the world except through the Ports. I don't know what the heck the British were thinking negotiating such a bizarre deal with The French. The map needs to be re-drawn.
All the stakeholders need to meet at the table again and re-draw the map, including the colonialists who originally negotiated such a bizarre and unfair map, unfair to The Gambian people, that is. There are 2 solutions: Either what I stated above, or Cassamance gain their sovereignty so that we are not completely surrounded amd boxed in by Senegal.

Nos états ont un véritable problème de respect des accords. Le mal est profond. Des projets destinés à la casamance sont détournés au profit de d´autres localités. La corruption en est un facteur clé de cette affaire. La sal politique du Sénégal envers la casamance n´est pas une bonne solution pour le Sénégal. Changez ce comportement est la seule solution.

The Senegalese government will have to meet his demands or else, they will never free these Soldiers. Its a shame these soldiers didn't know their mission in Gambia. He clearly said that in the interview. I hope they see their families again.... We need peace in our Region.
