This project is a great way to learn to start sewing because it's super easy and uses such a small amount of fabric. You can make these turban inspired headbands out of stretch knit fabric scraps or an old t-shirt. I recommend using a stretch fabric but you could really make it out of any fabric if you can get it over your head.
These headbands are a fabulous new hair accessory to add to your collection and you can make a huge variety in just a few hours. Once you start making these I bet your friends and family will start placing their orders.
You can modify the width of the headband straps to whatever look you prefer. Also, feel free to adjust the length if you find the 20" strips are too big for your head. You can just cut it at the back seam and re-sew it together. It's super easy and fool proof!

You could've made one big loop, twisted it into a figure of 8 and folded it in half. It would give you the exact same design. No need to make two pieces then sew through 4 layers.

For anyone who wants to make this but thinks they can’t because they don’t have stretchy fabric, I just made it with a very non stretchy fabric then just sewed a piece of thick elastic into the back instead of sewing the ends together and it worked great :)

Update: Made this today and it came out great. Made two using two different old t-shirts. One was regular cotton with some stretch and one was quite stretchy like the fabric in the video. Although I have a smaller head I found this headband to be too small even with the stretchy fabric. So I would suggest making the length 23 inches instead of 21 if you prefer a less tight fitting headband. Best xo!
