Imagine one day you can play a single character, walk around an enter vehicles like Arma.... That would be awesome.... from the briefing room on the carrier out to the deck and into the hornet

the real question is do you want dcs to incorporate arma or arma to incorprate dcs? I prefer the latter but your opion is obviously important as well
I’d say dcs incorporate arma because arma doesn’t have the best of graphics dcs just need to upgrade scenery graphics, planes and helos look amazing
Looking at the F15 going after you ejected, you should have tried to extend the gear and flaps and see if the F-15 would survive the landing by itself!

wags made a bit of a weird statement about people boarding helicopters soon in his recent video about the Hind, which makes me think some major changes are on the horizon for infantry being controllable and being able to interact with vehicles
I would agree. Being able to do a pre-flight check and then board the aircraft was also mentioned in an interview Cap did with someone from ED (don't remember who).
Several times on servers I've seen players literally stuck to the air intake of f15
It's a bit of a shame that actual rescue of friendly PC pilots isn't viable but given the immense scale of DCS I guess it's understandable.
Now to find out how many pilots can fit inside a Huey. You also didn't try banking over and having the pilot fall out.
Wags said in the new Hind-D video there is an update coming regarding troop transportation in Helicopters.

There is already a troop transport function in DCS, it's just not handled like this.

I think Joe Walsh experienced similar problems as you inside that chopper, I refer to the fantastic "Life's been Good"-"it's hard to leave when you can't find the door".
If the pilot isn't a unit seen in DCS...can it be shot?
Also: picking up pilots etc (also from water) would be so much more immersive esp with dynamic campaigns, although imo, pilots should just be seated ...not just kinda bugged inside heli.

You could set a zone at the airbase for the chopper to land at and if it did spawn some planes. It would have to work on a honour system that the chopper has picked up the pilots and doesn't just fly from the end of the runway to zone. Not perfect but might be a work around
Dcs should make this better. It would be nice if you could sit in the helicopter.

As of the last beta release the downed pilots appear as elements in the f10 map... might try this again?
It sounds cool until you realise it might take hours for a helo to get to you - if indeed it can reach you because none of the transport helos have additional tanks modelled - on a deep strike mission. Most players wouldnt wait around for that.
How about a FARP in each Grid square. CZAR is allowed to spawn in the nearest farp and come rescue...
@@grimreapers but if 'immersion' of being actually rescued of your thing, then you're not going to have CSAR (I assume thats what you meant, not Russian royalty), in each grid as that is not realistic either. CSAR deep behind enemy lines is a mission that is carried out by very specialised teams, and it is a thing... but yeah not sure the average player would be committed enough for that. Current models of CSAR that drop a troop where your pilot was, gives best of both worlds I guess. This is the model we use in GR missions and battlefield servers. You can actually pick them up (F10 menu) and bring them back to an airfield, FARP, or a specific 'MASH' unit. What I think would be cool is being able to 'jump out' leave the pilot there (modelled as a pilot), it becomes essentially a specialised ground unit, and then can be rescued.
I really hope Wags is watching this! It wouldn’t take a lot of effort to develop the pilot into something a little more realistic, like an Arma soldier. And being able to enter all manner of vehicles in order to try to get back to safety. A whole new dimension to DCS at a very cheap cost relative to developing a complete new aircraft. Maybe do a deal with the Arma III devs - code for some FC3 modules in exchange for some vehicles and humans?

That would be cool. Im still trying to figure out how to make parked uncontrolled aircraft that the player can take control of. Instead of having a new plane spawn in when the player picks it

To bad this doesn't work (yet), it has a lot of potential.
If you can add a trigger in the copter it isn't manual. Anything the eject or chopper causes is a usable trigger.
5.6 million dollars on training an F15 pilot and he doesn't know the main threat of a wasp is not its bite. Sheesh! Hehe great vid!

I was waiting for Cap to pull a prank on RC (RC's craft blowing up or some such). In MP you can also ride the nose of a Huey.
I can’t wait to hear what ED has up its sleeves for transportation in a future release. Would they start focusing on infantry combat as well?
What I want to know is if you can parachute robot cows in to combat! :D

It would be good if one day you could drop a heap of paratroopers from the Hercules, pick them up with a bus and bring them to the aircraft and take off.
Even if you get something to shoot at the pilot and cause a trigger that works.
Have a designated SAR pad for helo's to bring back downed pilots triggered by the helo? Triggers are a pain but fun. Could make them work in arma ok but not much else.

That was pretty slick for DCS! There is another series of games that can do this, but it's definitely not the best for a flight sim. ArmA 1, 2, & 3. Operation Flashpoint Resistance (very dated game but still better for this type of mission)
I look forward to being able to play DCS soon. Your channel has very useful tips for the new player on setup. Years ago I played every type of flight sim, and I thought I was good, but I've learned alot from Growling Sidewinder on how the aircraft and missiles react to different types of altitude, speed, and more. I hope with both channels I can be up and running and at least offer some kind of challenge lol yeah rightO.

Video idea: How do aircraft skins affect visibility in Dcs? Planes like the MiG 21 have bright red and bright yellow liveries that are super cool. It would be interesting to see if you are at a disadvantage over players with camouflage skins in terms of getting spotted on desert maps / caucasus

dear cap, i have a request. can you and some of your boys take 3 or 4 ac130 gunships and see if they can destroy a carrier group. you can try different gun runs and that hope it work

SuperCap! Thank you for doing this video as this subject has been a big one for my brothers and I, who are avid DCS fans. I wonder if there is a way to contact ED and ask them humbly (When they have time) if they could include the pilot of each aircraft as part of the group, instead of the airframe itself? Obviously they are working on air assets and etc... but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking of the pilot as a unit, which only serves to make the game more restrictive when the pilot doesn't count as an entity.
Roger .But what do you actually want to do with the pilot? That's what they'll ask back.
@@grimreapers Sorry for the late reply. Something along the lines of your pilot getting in and out of the jet, being able to climb into a rescue helicopter, (visible from both pilot and rescue chopper's perspectives) and that sort of thing.
It would be amusing to have stats on your pilot's log from the main menu that showed how many times you had ejected and still made it back to a friendly airfield or FARP.
