- What a journey this has been 🥹. I’m going to miss all these guys but glad that I’m keeping two to be with me as life long buddies. I hope these guys enjoy this big pond and accept it as their forever home so I can see them as I drive by every day. It really is just a matter of chance for the 4 baby snapping turtles to live to adulthood. I’m sure you did your best to grow and give them their best chance to reach adulthood!

I’m honestly surprised you didn’t keep them a bit longer, that first half to full year is always gonna be an absolute nightmare for baby turtles, if you keep them till they’re a bit bigger you wipe out the chance of them getting snagged by every manner of aquatic bird, animals like ducks are absolutely gonna be the bane of most of these guys

I raised a house finch this year when I found it as a hatchling In a newly planted tree (it hatched in a tree at a garden center, tree was planted somewhere else, mom wasn’t coming back) I can certainly understand the bittersweet feeling of letting it go, but it’s very rewarding nonetheless.

I can almost guarantee you will see them, snappers don't move all that far from their hatching spot to find territory so a few of em will set up shop right there

He's keeping two. Depends on where you live if you're allowed to keep them and how many. But they get quite big, so keeping all 6 would require a lot of space (and time) on top of all the fish and the selling fish business

not true. The longer Luke would have kept them, the longer they would have lost their natural instincts and abilities and would not have survived the wild. He made the right choice at the right time.

they did just pass the stages with the most vulnerability to them and you released them directly in the water so it is unlikely they will not live to adulthood. and yes if you left them in the nest it is likely whatever ate part of the eggs would come back to eat the rest since predators will not forgive a free meal. just remember to not do this kind of thing often unless you want to keep them as pets. fortunatelly is not an animal that spawns hundreds per year or it can easilly create an inbalance in the ecosystem and thats also why people "saving" frog eggs is so bad even if it looks like a nice thing.

You should have kept them as pets that would be really cool to see them grow up and feed them.
He kept two of the six. They poop like absolute units, live forever, and get huge (as in they'll each eventually outgrow everything Luke's shown himself using for goldfish so far), so honestly it'd have been an irresponsibly big commitment to keep all 6. The 2 will eventually need either a mini pond build close to the house or a custom aquarium many hundreds of gallons in size.

not only luke did a mistake by releasing only 4 instead of the 6 of the snapping turtles luke is gonna loose a finger or 2 becuause of his own mistake of keeping 2 snapping turtles he olso made a mistake be releasing them on the big pond which he could have used for his goldfish dumb luke 2 big mistakes in 1 day
