That's the thing with those Corbon JHPs.
Excellent velocity. Excellent energy. (Would NO DOUBT be effective).
You just have to deal with the thing EXPLODING like a grenade.

I've always heard that the old cor bon has had excellent street cred with certain departments, a really potent round, especially the all copper DPX that uses the Barnes bullet. This looks just like a Ranger T, or actually almost identical to the IMI 115gr JHP that I got from Midwayusa. It's a pretty common JHP design I've seen many times but it needs a lot of velocity to perform well and it looks like Cor bon loaded it hot! Good test!

Thanks for this update I had no idea they changed their bullet.
I will likely avoid them, I much preferred the Sierra Sportsmaster they used to use VS this random whatever JHP that looks exactly like the cheapest bulk .355” JHP you can buy from Everglades Ammo.

Use what you like for sure. I heard from someone else on this comment chain that they ordered the same ammo around the same time and it was what they normally load. I am more about what works and testing it. I see no major issue here but like I said, choose what works for you and be sure to test it =)

I think they change every now and then because I have some from 2 years ago and they are flatter and look more cool.

Ballistic gelletin is fine to control variables, but humans are not consistent like ballistic gelletin. We are tissue as soft and gossamer like lung tissue, to tough muscle fiber like the heart and quadriceps, to hard, dense bone material. No human behaves or is built like gelletin. The chicken test is much more valid test with different muscle fibers, bo e and skin than a controlled medium like ballistic gelletin.
I would hate to see the results of a wound channel in a human if the Corbon could devastate the chicken like that. I have a bunch of early 1990s CorBon, 115 grain +P and 124 grain +P. It is hotter than current +P loads from the major manufacturers and equal to boutique manufacturers like Atomic or Grizzly. Hot stuff.

I carry 124g & 147g standard P Federal HST and 124g +P Speer Gold Dot. Proven performance & reliability with both.
I'd like to see more testing on these. Some jelly tests to show relative penetration depth on these would be awesome. 3-4 chickens stacked/held together wearing a t-shirt & hoodie would suffice for a better test. Water stops deform HP inaccurately. Curious what a chronograph would read these at with a 3 - 3.5 - 4" barrel.
