  • There has been a significant increase in shark "encounters" along the east coast of the US. Some beaches which don’t usually see sharks have increased patrols and warnings.
    Sky's US correspondent Mark Stone swims with the sharks and meets experts in Florida and Nova Scotia to find out why.

    what they are not saying is we consume 120 billion sea life with massive trawlers dredging the ocean of all life and so therefore driving sharks to come closer to land in search of food. We need to stop the industrial fishing and give the ocean time to recover.

      All ties in...every bit counts. Fish migrate due to ocean warmth and currents. Climate change is making the oceans warmer...fish and sharks are going to places they don't normally go.
      Even numbnuts knows that.

    The fact that they automatically come up to the boat says yes they are curious but they are getting used to boats probably feeding them throwing off scraps, tourist operations chumming the water…I mean just the way they didn’t even fear the boat ….we are to blame for everything but worries me is are the sharks going to get the blame!

    • @GorgyPorgy65
      @GorgyPorgy65 Před 8 měsíci

      This ^^^. Exactly right...we are training them to come to human voice and boats...because we feed them.

    The US 🇺🇲 has just frozen assets of:
    - several Chinese nationals,
    - 10 companies and
    - 157 vessels
    for:
    - shark finning: chopping off shark fins for soup, throwing it back into the water, and letting them die.
    - illegal fishing: in the waters of other countries.
    - worker abuses: 18 work-hour a day 365 days a year, living on expired foods, dump onto the sea when sick.

    • @GorgyPorgy65
      @GorgyPorgy65 Před 8 měsíci

      What has that got to do with anything ?
      How about talk about the millions of tonnes of FISH being trawled out of the oceans by Chinese fishing trawlers. Sharks do not have as much food as they once did...we are killing off their and other marine life's food source.

    Land is for people and the sea is for sharks. If humans understood that then there would be no shark attacks.

    3:47 that’s the same rock sticking up in the picture! The lighthouse has been knocked over and washed away probably by storms.
    This is not proof of global warming. Even the sharks adapt as changes occur.

      And for sharks to change their behaviour so much in one year? Let's not forget the orcas and all other whales washing up in their hundreds. We're always being told we're not on the sharks menu but now it's because the waters warmer? Hmmm.

      That Combined with more sharks because for the past 30 years we've been protecting sharks to boost their population.

    I love sharks and we need to study what is happening. Certainly, weather is playing a role in terms of shifting sharks into regions they may not have historically been found, but I have no doubt that the reason why shark attacks from all species are rapidly increasing is simply that shark populations and shark prey species are rising due to successful conservation efforts. Also, in this century, human use of the oceans is greater than at any time in the history of mankind. More people and more sharks in the oceans means more attacks.
    This is a truth that some fear to speak about because they worry it will cause a backlash against sharks and inhibit conservation efforts, but I fear not telling people the truth is the real threat to sharks. As the attack numbers continue to rise, eventually, the oceans will become unsafe and sharks will be blamed for this. Whenever a shark attack occurs, it is a bad day for sharks. Shark attacks are bad publicity and sharks have enough of that.
    The truth is that when predator populations grow too large, they become unmanageable and bad things start to happen. So lets not hide the obvious from the public. Shark attacks are on the rise for a lot of reasons, but the primary reason is because shark populations are on the rise in many parts of the world's oceans that are also used by humans. Let's not let this situation get out of hand and cause a backlash of hatred against sharks.
    Let's instead, face reality and attempt to find solutions that protect humans and sharks by allowing them and us to both safely swim in the oceans. Technology investment is the answer. Hiding the truth from the public will not help sharks! The truth will help sharks. We need solutions and we need them quick. More importantly, sharks need them quick!

    • @GorgyPorgy65

      Look how much chinese trawlers pull from the ocean.

    • @TruthDragon.
      @TruthDragon. Před 8 měsíci

      @@GorgyPorgy65 Yes, some species of shark are still in decline, but conservation efforts in many parts of the world have been very effective at increasing shark populations. Great job to the people who engaged in those conservation efforts and have been effective at helping sharks rebound. For example, White Shark populations along the west coast of the United States have increased substantially in the past 20 to 30 years. When discussing conservation efforts, its important to look at specific regions and species data, not just focus on the general idea that sharks in general remain threatened (which they do and I don't want to imply otherwise). The ideal goal is minimal to no shark attacks and for that to occur, we need to understand what is going on with specific species in specific regions.
