ironic how gaara is the youngest kage in the group yet he understood what is needed to run a village better than his seniors did
IMO, Gaara is the true symbol of what a Kage must be
It’s actually because gaara has the least amount of experience that he was able to see what needed to be done
That's because the seniors have been through ALOT of wars and conflicts and have much more experience than Gaara, so old hatred die hard for them.
And yet Naruto wasn't made Hokage despite putting himself in danger to save the entire village more than once being the one to beat Gaara and Pain

I loved it when Gaara asked, "When did you all forsake yourselves?" to every other Kage there. And the Fifth Mizukage (who was the second-youngest Kage among them) was there, too. It was at that moment Gaara became my favorite Kage.
This is easily one of the top most pathetic things Danzo ever did. He couldn’t get real acknowledgment from highly respected ninja, so he had to use genjutsu from an eye he stole to manipulate Mifune, and STILL got busted. Either way, that day was the day he died so I’m satisfied.

I've seen comments where people wonder how come that Kotoamatsukami was dispelled so easily.
There are two theories for this.
1) Danzo can't use it as well as Shisui.
2) Kotoamatsukami has slightly different effects in each eye. Itachi or Sasuke have diffent abilities for each eye but e.g. Obito's MS has Kamui in both eyes but each is slightly different; one which Obito have is short range and the other which Kakashi has is long range.
This theory goes that Kotoamatsukami is similar. One eye which Danzo has can be used frequently but the effect is weaker which is why Mifune snapped out of it when someone told him. While the second eye's effect is much stronger and can't be dispelled but can be used only sparingly. And it is this eye which Shisui gave to Itachi which the later implanted to the crow which Naruto swallowed. Which is why in the War Arc Itachi knew that he was under the jutsu but still obeyed its command.
The reason danzo can use it so often is the hashirama cells it’s not a different ability. Koto just relies on you not getting caught while casting it because that’s the only time you’d really be able to tell

Definitely, though I actually think Danzo may still have been picked had he tried not to control Mifune. All of his logic as to why he should lead the alliance is sound; Gaara is too young and the other nations would not respect his authority, Onoki is an old man and essentially bankrolled the Akatsuki due to the Stone using their services the most, Mei is untrustworthy since the previous Mizukage was controlled by the Akatsuki and there is nothing to suggest that she couldn't also be at this point, and A is a loose cannon idiot.

So the Byakugan can keep someone immune from the 2nd most powerful genjutsu. Even the Tsukyomi is an evolved sharingan ability and it’s still considered the lesser to Shisui’s genjutsu. Either that’s a plot-hole or it really bumps up the power of the Byakugan by a lot.

They weren’t. Sasori had Kabuto under his genjutsu like the one he put the Sand Captain under. Orochimaru figured it out and broke the Genjutsu though but let Kabuto act as a double spy.
I bet Orochimaru hide a motive when he was in the Akatuski and never let anyone know about Otogakure, thus later Sasori find Kabuto and put him into his genjutsu thus turning him into his subordinate after Orochimaru left the Akatsuki in a while

I don't believe shisui's Kotoamatsukami was used in this scene because during danzo's fight with sasuke ( which is after kage summit) he tried to use Kotoamatsukami on tobi(obito). Kotoamatsukami can only be used once every decade.

Danzo's one specialty is manipulation, he's a snake in every sense of the term. Even literally, by that Ginjutsu and the Izanagi, he knew how to play people to get what he wants. Ironically, Sasuke arguably extended his life because the other Kage were about to pounce on him.

Danzo needed hand signs to perform his izanagi. Edo-Madara kept up with Ay’s speed cause he’s fuckin hax, Minato was faster mostly because of the Flying Raijin and Naruto thanks to the Kcm1.. so most likely Ay would’ve probably blitzed Danzo in a 1v1

If I remember correctly, Danzo and Orochimaru had been working together in secret (even to the point where Danzo was secretly funding Orochimaru's research) and Danzo supported Orochimaru when Orochimaru put his candidacy for 4th Hokage in.
He supported Orochimaru until Orochimaru left the village, at which point they hadn't had anything more to do with each other until Danzo sent Sai to deliver a list of Anbu members who answered directly to the Hokage to Orochimaru so that Orochimaru could make a bingo book out of that list.
Danzo is responsible for 90% of the Leaf Village's problems.
In fact, Pain wouldn't have existed and the Akatsuki would've still been a faction of mercenary Shinobi instead of a terrorist group if Danzo hadn't fooled Hanzo into thinking that the Akatsuki were a threat to his power.
