- In this Episode (3) of a 3 episode series I go over the antique process I've learned to use. I've been asked many times how I finish my leather. The Antique finish process is fairly new to me but I'm really liking the results so I thought I would share.
In this video series I reference Douglas Tools (Bob Douglas/ Douglas Saddle Co)

Nice videos, I watched all three and you did a great job. Keep it up. I learned a lot on antique dying. I new to leather crafting and I really like the antique process. I am going to try to follow in your footsteps with this process. Thanks
Thank you!
Great video. Really liked the narration as you worked. Learned a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good video, but long. what is the name of the slicker you used? Also I have on hand Resolene and Pro Resist. Can I Use those in lieu of Tan Kote?
Cool video, I learned something today
Perfect..!
Doing a fine job.
Thank you
For a saddle, would I need to put a waterproof sealer over the last coat of Tan-Kote? Thanks!
If you want it to be waterproof yes.. however all that depends on the saddle.. I personally would put a waterproof sealer on a saddle.
Does the tan cote keep the antique from wearing off? Recently mate a turkey tote and noticed the antique wanting to wear off after using it a few times
There are other products such as neatlack.. that seal the leather.. however I prefer an oil based product that leaves the leather feeling supple.
For 1st time video, very good.
Thank you very much!
That’s why they call it Antique…uneven wear.
