  • Cooking Simulator EP321: [Sushi DLC] Day 11 - We Have Ice Cubes!
v6.0.6 (or 6.0.5 according to the announcement on their steam store page)
Pending some episodes to come before this one.
I really do not like how the wand just keeps returning back to its spawn point even though we've moved it out of the way. While it may be a good implementation to remove glitches and possible restore any stuck wands, it's a hassle. Would've been great if they'd allowed a wand-reset button somewhere but keep the wand where we place them.
At 12:20 we began experimenting with the tamagoyaki again. My hypothesis was that if the sesame is fully cooked then the tamagoyaki would start to burn. Regardless, the implementation of cooking the tamagoyaki really should've made a bit of change, that is, give more time before food burns. Why? in this game we can only hold 1 thing at a time. In real life we can have the spatula on one hand and the ladle on the other and placing the ladle down does not require us to look away from our tamagoyaki pan. In this game, we have to look away, set down the ladle WHILE LOOKING AT IT, and then search for the spatula to pick it up WHILE LOOKING AT IT AGAIN, before we can actually turn our attention to the tamagyaki pan. That's a lot of time even if each took 2-3 seconds. LOL I'm laughing as I type this because it's actually quite a peculiar situation.
I like how the ice cubes are melting, but don't like how the ice cubes fall out of the bowl when stirring. Ice cube melting is such a cool mechanic! I also don't like how we have to press the A/D S/W keys so many times.
26:44 was just pure unfairness. Seriously! How can it topple?! If you noticed the ticking sound when I was laughing, I think it was the headphone wire hitting something.
Then at 32:00 the wand was bugged out!

Yeah, true with tempura. Sometimes it's normal, but when camera suddenly goes sideways - I just go back, save and reload. Not gonna waste time and resourses to make tempura batter again.
And it was 15 ml for oil for tamago. They changed ammount in recipe after fix.

Haha yeah I think the best approach would be to reload a save if that problem happens with the tempura. Sadly I forgot to save more frequently as I didn't expect these kinds of issues. Also taking from what I've experienced in the base game and DLC, sometimes saving and loading might mess up some other things, such as causing temperature issues, seasoning problems, and if I recall correct, liquid mixture compositions going wrong. 🙊🤣 Ahh thanks for the clarification on the tamago oil. I really did think I somehow read the recipe wrongly. 😆 So may I enquire, did you have any issues with the tamagoyaki?

    Hey, just a few tips,
Make sushi vinegar times 20 the recipe (1 liter vinegar and 500 g sugar), and store it in a big bowl. Now you can use the 50 ml ladle 2 times for the right amout.
Tamago recipe u can make 10x the recipe (with 30 eggs) and it will fit the big bowl. Tempura u can make with times 2 the recipe.
U can pre cut all the sushi and store it in the sqare containers. The containers u can also put on the floor.
For the optional extras, take a big bowl, go to your shelf and pick the jarred ginger, and empty it in the big bowl. You can fill about 5 jars in it. The put the big bowl on your counter. Its the most time efficient
Im about 10 hours in now, and to be honest, the game feels way too easy 😂

Thank you for the tips! Initially I was simply just following the recipes and learning the game so I didn't experiment too much.
Nonetheless, the tip on having the sushi vinegar and sugar mixture pre-mixed is definitely excellent! I think that would really save us a lot of time. Same goes for the tamagoyaki recipe tip too! Thank you!! 😊 Hopely the pre-mixed mixtures don't glitch out on a new day or on loading a save file like they sometimes did in the base game. But I think that hasn't happened in the Sushi DLC yet, so we should be good on that :D
As for the tempura, would the ice cubes fit? I know that even if they fall out while stirring, as long as we quickly complete the stirring process, the ice cubes will still register as being in the bowl, but the falling ice cubes still worry me quite a lot 😅🤣
Oh woww okay! I didn't know that about the ginger too! I switched to a different option as you'll see in the coming episodes (not the next episode though), but I think the ginger approach is wayyy more time-economical. Anyway, have you tried using the tray instead of the bowl? Which one do you feel is better for holding the ginger?
I agree that the DLC isn't too challenging as long as the bugs are ironed out. The sticky container problem as well as not being able to multi-grab a group of sushi are some of the more painful gripes to contend with in the DLC.

Haha, glad it helps 😁! The same mechanics u can also use in the main game for soups/sauces/prepping stout 😜.
For the tempura, yes it works! I know about the ice cubes, I was wondering too, but the batter turns allright 😁. For the ginger, I havnt tried the baking tray yet. I always try to use as less space as possible, so prefer to work vertically instead of horizontally.
For the precut sushi, I usually take a big container in my hands, go to the maki mat, hover over the sushi, scroll my mousewheel to select all. Then during the animation it moves to the container, I move the container a little bit so it falls all into it. The small makis like kappa and avocado I have next to me on the counter. The bigger ones behind me in the unused space on the ground (u can walk over it without issues 😜).
Looking forward to your next video! If you like, maybe I can share more tips 😁?

Oh, and btw, the right recipe for the sushi vinegar is 2 liter vinegar (instead of 1) and 500 gram sugar 😅. And if you buy more colanders, u can also pre rinse the rice and put it on the ground.

Ooh glad to hear that the batch-prep of tempura does work. I think it'll help quite a lot. Nonetheless, as of now the tempura was enough that I hadn't encountered the need to prepare more. The main problem was the process of making the tempura. Doing multiple QTEs to cook 1 tempura was too excessive and time consuming. As for working vertically I think that's definitely a better approach as space is very limited. 🤣
For precut sushi, they always glitched out on the next day or after loading a save. So I didn't want to precut them. As in I wouldn't be able to properly take/serve them even with multi-select. Unless the devs have fixed it? 🙊 For leaving things on the ground, I tried my very best to avoid it to preserve some form of neatness/cleanliness (e.g. with most of the rarely used bags of ingredients at the pantry floor instead). On why I had prepared tempura on the floor, it was only because the bowls kept toppling due to the bug and the only way to prevent them from toppling was to work from the floor. But I agree with you on the efficient use of floor space for storage if preferred. 😊
Thanks for all the tips! Actually I have already pre-recorded a set of videos to come out on the channel in the coming 15-20 days but I hadn''t had time to edit them. So while I'd like to try out your tip on preparing bigger tamagoyaki batches and rice mixtures, they wouldn't be on the channel for quite some time. 😆
