  • The fate of the last two Boeing 767s in British Airways' fleet was decided today as both G-BZHA and G-BZHB arrived at MOD St Athan (EGDX) from London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL) for scrapping.
Today (26th November 2018) marks the end of an era for the workhorse of the British Airways fleet - the Boeing 767-300, as the last two bid farewell to their commercial flying days and arrived at the scrapyard. Not only was it the very last flight for both these aircraft, but too the captain of the first 767 to land - best wishes in your retirement. Congratulations to BA and Boeing on the success of the wonderful aircraft, and good luck to the crews on their next adventures.
The first aircraft to land, G-BZHA as BAW767A (Speedbird 767A) was at around 11:30am, followed by G-BZHB as BAW767B (Speedbird 767B) later in the afternoon at around 2:45pm. Both made their last landing a graceful one, coming to a quick stop on runway 25 after using up very little runway. Soon after they vacated the runway, taxying past other BA 767's already at the scrapyard. Moments later they were all parked up, shutting down those Rolls Royce RB211's for the last time. 🙁
I've included a few still shots of other aircraft on the ground as well as a video of Qatar Airways Boeing 787 on approach to Cardiff Airport (CWL/EGFF). I felt this was quite a thought-provoking shot with the latest model in Boeing's fleet flying over the 20 year old 767's as they entered their retirement.
    From Captain Chris Letchford...
"G-BZHA was the penultimate flight and was operated by Captain Chris Letchford and Senior First Officer Ed Stone. Chris retired with the aeroplane while Ed is currently undergoing a conversion on to the 747. The final flight flown on G-BZHB was operated by Captain Jonny Lutton and Senior First Officer Adam Aston. Jonny very graciously and selflessly gave away the final landing to Adam. Adam is undergoing his conversion on to the Airbus fleet and Jonny will be re-joining the 747 fleet and taking up his new role as Flight Training Manager. Adam and Jonny both have twitter accounts which are well worth following ..." You can find these twitter accounts here ➡️ / aston_adam & / jonnylutton 👈

And as HB shuts down for the last time, a rainbow comes out right over her.

I loved working on these as long haul cabin crew for BA .. I remember doing a Christmas trip to Calgary 2008/09.. had a great crew ,went to Banff on a sleigh ride .. great memories we worked in what we called 4 corners for service.. easy to work on, but poor overhead locker space

As someone who worked on the design of the 767 in Everett, videos like this make me rather sad. I actually saw the first revenue departure of a 767 out of La Guardia; now the shoe is on the other foot.

... and the birds chirping in background was simply the icing on the cake to this tribute and perfect landing. That's it. May those B767 fly again if destined ...

Very cool that you have this record of the final BA 767 flight and that of a pilots retirement also. Big like.

The very good news is that Boeing is still in production of Boeing 767s and we will be seeing them for many years to come.

A fantastic tribute to these last BA 763's and also very touching for the Captain to be retiring with one of them also. Thanks for sharing this moment with us.

What an amazing video! I love the fact that you included the last sentimental atc transmissions from the 767s and also shots of their sister ships... a production the BA 767 fleet did deserve! It’s nice to see that the 767 was a really special aircraft for many aviation enthuasiasts as well as the BA staff. Thanks for sharing this man!

Congrats on producing a brilliant video commemorating a real aviation milestone. Rather sad in many ways but so well presented and such a nice touch and momentous for the retiring Captain. I am sure he won’t be able to stop watching it. Well done and thanks.
