      Just a tip, but I have to say this was good lesson for anyone a pro or weekender. The tip : next time do wear a camouflage shirt or hold with color from beard to the shirt it cause the lures to blend, really destroys the size of any lure. Holding to right, or left upwards in that position blue skies. The cameraman should check the money shots.

      Maybe just go back to their punching videos, they say go up in weight on a jig because it has so much more to go through, like if you're getting through with 3/4 oz t-rig use a 1 1/4 oz jig. Unless I misunderstood what info you're looking for.

    Thank you for this video. Very well done and greatly appreciated! Very thorough and articulate, and I appreciate that you demonstrated the techniques at the same time that you were discussing them. I have recently begun focusing specifically on catching bass, but I have not been clear on proper retrieval techniques for various jigs (although I have had moderate success doing it “my way”). After watching your video this morning, I hit the lake specifically to modify my retrieval to the bump/pull technique you demonstrated, and I very quickly hooked a largemouth, and then had one shake off on the very next cast. Needless to say, I was very happy to feel like I might finally be doing it a better way. Thank you!

    Matt and Tim, please consider a video focused on the big bass that STAY SHALLOW as summer comes. I'm in the Midwest fishing from shore in small natural bodies of water. However, in CZcams I am seeing lots of videos across Manu channels about deep water legde fishing far offshore in southern reservoirs. It looks interesting, but those videos pertains to me the same as saltwater tarpon fishing videos.

Not quite as humid as here in central GA, or MS, AL, FL. The heat is rough, but the humidity down here makes the heat even more brutal.

    I really need to get back to jigging more. I've been trying to develop deep crank reaction bites and learning how to locate/catch fish in water over 20' deep. (I haven't figured it out yet, but that's another topic). I've caught almost all of my larger fish on a jig of some sort; flipping/pitching, swim, football, even a chatterbait (I think of that as a reaction jig.) I got away from throwing jigs because of trying to use the cover-water-until-you-find-fish-and-then-slow-down process. Honestly, it hasn't bee working for me.

    What line do you recommend for a smoother, further cast or is it more of the rod and or reel? My dad and I aren't naive to how lucky we have been only using 10lb test for years and years, in every kind of conditions possible. Anything over 12 seems too heavy/stiff, and just doesn't cast well as far as distance. To be clear, im referring to mono or fluorocarbon. Braid does cast better but do you recommend rigging braid on every rod?

    • @ScuffedEngineer
      @ScuffedEngineer Před 4 lety +1

      They run braid on a majority of rods in a majority of applications while opening up to when they'll use straight fluoro. That being said I use 15-20lb mono regularly and don't see an issue with casting distance, I can cast far enough to wish I had braid to get a good hookset. I would say it's either you're using the wrong rod for weight or your reel is too tight (if you're using a baitcaster) and you need to rely on your thumb more, but that's just with the information given. On a spinning reel, braid will always be better for higher lb test.

    Thanks for the tips. I’m curious as to how you guys are adjusting to the change in humidity levels now that you have moved to TN? Especially now in the Summer months. It has to be quite a change from CA.

      Jersey47 Ha! I thought the same thing.. coming from that dry heat into this suffocating humidity.. I’m sure it’ll affect their desire to fish through the afternoon.. HOOOOTTTT!

      @@JohnSmith-qj5bn Do you live in TN? I'm trying to research places to retire to in a few years. Cost of living is crazy here in CA, and the political climate sucks. I have seen and heard a few people recommending TN as a place to retire to, but I'm not sure I can deal with the dramatic change in humidity levels.
      I see in another reply that you're "... working in my jig game as well...", I can highly recommend Bass Union Jigs. I have caught several nice jig fish using the BU Finesse Football jigs. Where previously I had zero luck using any other jig. The founder of Bass Union jigs has a youtube page and posts some tips and videos a few times a month. You might want to give them a try.

    Probably my favorite fishing channel. Frustrating part is there's just way too many options. Ahhhhhh

    I’m in the market for a new all around jig and worm rod. I’ve narrowed it down to these 3 rods. GLX 853C JWR, GLX 854C JWR, and GLX 843C MBR. Which of these three do you think would be my best choice. I mainly fish with no heavier than a 1/2 oz jig. But I do throw up to a 10 1/2 inch worm every once in a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, and keep these awesome videos a rollin in!

      The MBR is way too light for that application. The 853 and 854 are both awesome. If you lean toward heavier rods, definitely the 4. If you lean to lighter rods, definitely the 3.

    Unless you’re fishing a highland reservoir this summer😂 it’s tough out here
