It was 1969. I was a freshman in the voice in the School of Music at a Howard University, and there was Richard Smallwood playing a beautiful Grieg piano sonata. He was bored to tears because gospel music was his calling and his life’s work. It’s wonderful when God gives you a mission and you follow it. This abundance is the result.
Im Catholic and didn't grow up with traditional gospel in the house, but I love when my wife plays "Total Praise" and other gospel songs before mass on Sundays.
What separates Richard Smallwood from others is he never sang to entertain but he sang with an anointing…His songs touched the spirit of man.. David’s anointing..

Actually, it was a huge thing because you and I were there in spirit anyway. God had who was there that was needed doesn't mean the A-list as you called didn't celebrate in their way or acknowledgment.

Many of the most famous gospel singers are into the occult or made a deal with the devil. Their music is so watered down while smallwood’s is rooted in scripture. Light and darkness don’t mix. It really should have been bigger but that’s ok his reward in heaven is great.

I met Richard and Tony Walker a week apart. His ministry inspired me to play clarinet for the Lord professionally and I learned so many Scriptures from his music. He is unmatched. I haven’t heard anyone’s music sound anything like Richard Smallwood’s.

The Holy Spirit whispered the name Richard Smallwood into my spirit in mid 2019! "What exactly did he do in Hollywood?" I wondered. A Google search taught me that this was God's way of serenading me through a "valley-of-the-shadow-of-death" experience while my daughter took time out in a 1 and 1/2 week camp. His Holy Spirit knew that I, steeped in grief and loneliness, NEEDED GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY to function in the house on my own after the burial of my husband. Thank God for this legend to humanity!

The Holy Spirit whispered the name Richard Smallwood into my spirit in mid 2019! "What exactly did he do in Hollywood?" I wondered. A Google search taught me that this was God's way of serenading me through a "valley-of-the-shadow-of-death" experience while my daughter took time out in a 1 and 1/2 week camp. His Holy Spirit knew that I, steeped in grief and loneliness, NEEDED GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY to function in the house on my own after the burial of my husband. Thank God for this legend to humanity!
