  • Reaction to the Padres series win in Cincinnati vs. the Reds. Sure, they were playing their third game in almost 24 hours but the offense simply needed to be better in game one to support Joe Musgrove and the bullpen. Nick Martinez faced his former team in game two and Matt Waldron pitched in the series finale. Xander Bogaerts was placed on the IL and it seems like he'll be out for the next couple months. Jake Cronenworth played his first game at 2B in 2024. Is that the best spot to put him while Bogey is out?

    Great road trip!! I don't care what teams you play it's always a great road trip when you come back with five wins out of seven games. NOW, The Padres need to be well over 500 on this upcoming home stand otherwise they will continue treading water and playing 500 ball overall. They must take the series against the Yankees and the series against the Marlins no if ands or butts. Can't keep playing this game of great road trip, awful homestan. Even playing 500 at home doesn't cut it. Good teams are well over 500 at home and around 500 on the road and it's time for the Padres to start playing that way another trap series coming up. First they beat up the dodgers then get swept by the Rockies. Now they play the Yankees and must remember if they take two out of three against the Yankees to stay awake for the following series against the Marlins and don't get swept by them like the Rockies did Time for some positive consistency from this club.

      Going 5 and 2 on an east coast road trip is exceptional for a good team. Being 5 and 5 during the last 10 games which includes that road trip is so Padres. Imagine if we’d won the series against the Rockies. We haven’t swept a series this season. And treading water by winning series and losing to teams well below .500 and never having a consistent winning streak longer than a few games will be the reason we missed the playoffs three of the last four seasons. Everyone thinks this team is different than last year. It’s time to prove it. The record is a good barometer of who and what this team is.

    No one is mad about a 5-2 road trip except maybe gamblers.
    I'm going to Sunday's game and I'm not going to boo Soto, he hasn't done anything to deserve that.
    I do believe that we should not pitch to him in any circumstance unless bases are empty and 1 run wouldn't beat us. That would be hugely unpopular but he could drive in a ton of runs this weekend if we let him.
    Thanks for the videos. LFGSD

    Now I’m at the point was a fan of wanting to change my expectations for this team. They’ve shown they can win series but I need to so start distancing themselves from .500 they shown they have the ability to do it I need to see it consistently

    • @jdsthird
      @jdsthird Před 27 dny +1

      When have we shown the ability to do it? We haven’t swept any series this season. We haven’t won more than 4 games in a row and only once have we done it. We’ve been swept twice. We’ve been shit out 4 or 5 times already. For the last 300 games plus we’ve been just below a .500 team. That’s a huge sample size spanning different managers, coaches, and players. AJ Tingler Preller is the only constant during this time. Despite our 5-2 East coast road trip we are 5-5 the last 10 games. Which means we are a .500 team after winning all the series and against the so called good teams in the NL. We are consistently a perennial.500 team and until they prove otherwise we won’t make the playoffs again this season. Two seasons missing out and three of the last four seasons. Why can’t we get beyond this?

    Memo to Padres fan base: Quit the Arraez-Tony Gwynn comparisons. Arraez is nowhere near that stature. Nowhere.

  • @sumandsubstance7881
    @sumandsubstance7881 Před 27 dny +2

    I followed Tony Gwynn's career since the 80s and Arraez is up there in terms of pure hitting and getting base hits when you factor in the fact that today's pitching is better. guys throw harder with better movement. you got relievers coming out of the pen throwing 100 gas,and Aaraez hits .340 every year. it's truly impressive

    • @thepracticingguitarist
      @thepracticingguitarist Před 27 dny +1

      You must not have followed Tony Gwynn's career closely. Arraez is a nice hitter. But he's nowhere near Tony Gwynn, and to claim otherwise is purely asinine. Arraez has put together a good little start to his career, but let's see if he can sustain .330 when he approaches 40 and put up a .394 high-water mark. Also, Gwynn faced plenty of hard throwers -- think Randy Johnson, Nolan Ryan, John Smoltz, Dwight Gooden, on and on -- but to be honest, for professional hitters, there isn't much difference between high 90s and low 00s. It's all timing, and for a master student like Gwynn, it wasn't/wouldn't be a problem. And in terms of movement, Greg Maddux was king. Tony's average against him -- and other Cy Young Award winners -- speaks for itself. Again, Arraez shows promise, but his bust won't be prepped for Cooperstown anytime soon. Meanwhile, Gwynn was a generational talent whose legacy is secure. To put it another way, 700+ hits and 2 batting titles to start a career is a long way from 3,141 hits and 8 batting titles. Also, Arraez has only hit over .340 once in his career. So you obviously also don't know your facts.
