  • Visit www.wcCarAudio.com *** INTRODUCING THE NEW PRODUCT FROM SMD-D'AMORE ENGINEERING! The new CC-1! Set your crossovers to the EXACT frequency you desire, fast, accurately and most of all very EASY. Go into "competition mode" and it has a function which allows you to match multiple amplifier outputs so they all put out the same power at the same time. This device doesn't just measure AC voltage, it measures DBV. This makes it more accurate then using a DMM (digital multi meter). Available early February 2012!
    In the meantime, don't forget to add the SMD DD-1 to your tool box. We also have a whole line up of interesting products that we will introduce soon! Subscribe and see!

    @SuperSalain Just chiming in here. The crossover is exactly that a crossover not a cutoff. A crossover has a smooth transition from maximum to zero. The -3dB point is where the power drops to half the maximum and that frequency is defined as the point where the crossover is providing signal on one side of that frequency and not on the other. So if the crossover were simply adjusted by listening or watching for signal on the amp, they may be way off from the half power signal. FYI.

    Thank you Steve for making good tools for car audio. Just order the CC-1 and can't wait to get it so I can put it with my DD-1. I use the DD-1 and I love it. It's a good tool for any car audio tech to have. Now that the CC-1 is coming I can't wait to use it..
    Again Steve Thank You

  • @WhitentonMike
    @WhitentonMike Před 12 lety

    @MrMxAudio It can be done with an iPod but you also need a digital volt meter and a calculator. Even so the CC-1 will still be much easier to get it adjusted right because it does the calibrating and math for you.

    idk.. not hating on your product at all.. just seems like eventually if you do that you will hear the signal being amplified or not.. idk.. i'm going to try it out.. but you definitely have a killer product here. Good stuff steve

  • @WhitentonMike
    @WhitentonMike Před 12 lety

    @kcMacnCheese It could be done with a sweep and a spectrum analyzer. Music won't give you an accurate measurement for the -3dB crossover point. So basically the simplest, cheapest and best way is with a single tone at the desired crossover frequency. What is on one side of the crossover frequency is desired on the other side isn't, music won't change that. Steve has it right.

    Howdy: I have a question regarding the SMD CC1. I was testing an HPF/LPF calculator and CC1 simultaneously. The high-pass-filter calculator (in the CC1) appears to be working and set to a 12db rolloff/octave. However, it appears you are using 12db for the LPF as well? The subwoofer amps we use are set to an 18db roll off/octave. I broke out my RTA and it appears as though the CC1 is not adjusting for the faster roll off. I tested with another amp and set the rolloff/slope off 24db and it appears even more skewed? Am I missing a step in setting up the CC1?

    @meade916 Hi Steve, have you ever done any frequency checks to see if the head units are actually playing one of the test frequencies at the correct frequency? I had a cheap MP3 player that played about 10% too fast. So any calibrations would be off if I used that as my source. I could hear it in my tweeter crossover. I was picking up high-mids in my tweeters. I didn't notice it in my sub.

      SW21 Sharky not all but most each crossover has a drop off slope after the crossover be point they should be crossed over at the same point or maybe a slight over lap to blend the sound slightly.

    @030233854914 Most of the time I guess it won't be a problem but,... How can one be sure their HU is working correctly? Problem is, the HU freq. can't be adjusted easily so your recourse is to replace it. But it is still better to know and deal with the problem than to not know. Like when my mono amp came without a subsonic filter. Grrr. I found some in-line RCA fixed freq subsonic filters but need to decide 25Hz or 30Hz or order both? Right now I had to simply turn my sub gain down. Sad.
