Yes, Ben for sure. Right now Automatic Switching is a MESS. I was going to do a follow up video but it's useless right now for 11.1. I will wait until 11.2 and hopefully things improve.
Not only does this not work for Big Sur trying to switch between iPhone and Mac.. on top of that my Safari bookmarks won't sync, there are no iCloud tabs anymore (completely disappeared), and handoff also doesn't work like it should. Absolute disaster on Apple's part but I can't say I'm surprised.
Just got some AirPods Pro for the switching feature, and they suck. I work on Google Voice on Mac, and take WhatsApp voice calls on my iPhone all the time. My Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 worked very well switching between the two, but wanted something smaller, less cumbersome, and maybe even more seamless. So after upgrading my Mac to Big Sur and my iCloud account to 2FA (I was holding out), everything was supposed to be magical... it's not. If im connected the Mac and a WhatsApp call comes in on the phone it connects the Airpods, but I get no audio. If I hang up and call back, then it works on the phone. But then it won't re-connect to the Mac automatically. Why hype a feature that doesn't even work right? Why does it work just fine on regular Bluetooth headphones that are not even Apple branded!?

The AirPods can switch to my iPhone but when I play music in the mac they don't switch it only appears a notification saying that I need to connect them manually to my mac :(
I have the same problem !
Same prob! Have you found a solution?
Juan, just checking, are you sure that you are logged into iCloud with the same id as you are on your iPhone? If not this issue can happen.
@@Mr.Macintosh I am logged in both devices to the same iCloud account and everything else is working, the Universal Clipboard, airdrop, everything except for the automatic switching feature 😔
@@edriansantos9957 no, I haven’t I will des connect my AirPods from my Mac and then I will let you know
switching from iphone to mac works okay
but switching from mac to iphone it ends up play in speak on the iphone
I have an iPhone 5s running iOS 12(the newest version ) and my 2018 MacBook Air running big sur (also up to date) and my AirPods pros are not auto switching to my mac. someone pls HELP
Exactly what I was looking for, I am fedup of the switching problems of my Airpods Pro.
This is awesome! Nice video by the way. Now we just need Big Sur GM. Who else is installing Big Sur day 1?
My AirPods Pro
Won’t automatically switch
Does this only work with Apple Music?
As far as I can tell it is meant to work with any audio from any source but it is just a mess. Hopefully after some more updates it will get working properly
it doest work for me even once....dont know why ?
Are you using Big Sur beta 10?
Didn’t work at all before beta 10 for me.
Hello Cony, yes this is on beta 10!
Does it work with airpods 3 now?
I have macOS Big Sur on my MacBook Pro and iOS 14 on my iPhone Xs. I tried this feature using both my AirPods (2nd Gen) and my AirPods Pro. At the end of the day, nothing seems to work. The auto-switching NEVER happened, not even once. Can you help resolve this issue?
Im right here with you with the same equipment and the exact same issue.
I join the other comments! My switching it is not working at all and I have everything updated. I hope Apple fix it on the coming updates.
Does this work for powerbeats3 also?
I feel like this is a feature that only works if you are in a certain country
I have found a solution for this. Check it out here: medium.com/@rkkasotiya/airpods-auto-switching-from-iphone-ipad-to-mac-fcf1b47a2d61
Does this feature works with beats flex ?
So excited for this! Great video
I cant control my airpods pro on macbook. No skip, play/pause controls. All double tap controls not working except for long tap for noise cancelation. Its really stupid if apple decided not to introduce this option on the macbook. I need help if someone knows a fix for this
Another glitch when I'm using AirPods on Macbook and take one out it automatically connects to my iPhone
thanks man
My Mac with Big Sur official released, and my phone with iOS14.1. My AirPods can switch to my phone when I play the music but can't switch to my Mac automatically. The notification pops out sometimes, but most of the time I need to click connect to reconnect the AirPods. quite annoying.
Same here
me too, sometime connect is not work
Are there STILL glitches for people?!?
Yes, Ben for sure. Right now Automatic Switching is a MESS. I was going to do a follow up video but it's useless right now for 11.1. I will wait until 11.2 and hopefully things improve.
@@Mr.Macintosh Thanks for the update! 😀
Doesn’t work on my MacBook Pro 2015
Not only does this not work for Big Sur trying to switch between iPhone and Mac.. on top of that my Safari bookmarks won't sync, there are no iCloud tabs anymore (completely disappeared), and handoff also doesn't work like it should. Absolute disaster on Apple's part but I can't say I'm surprised.
cool video. but i still cant get it to switch.
i just opened this video and mid way my airpods automatically switched
haha They knew!!!
My brother’s AirPods Pro is switching to my iPhone when iam listening with mine and cut music it is annoying ,this feature is useless
Just change the name of yours or your brother's AirPods to something else and it won't do that anymore.
@@user-gp1bt4vm3r thank you I will try it
Just got some AirPods Pro for the switching feature, and they suck.
Wouldn’t AirPods 1 work? Cause the little notification of the AirPods connected shows up on my phone?
Aman, sadly the automatic switching part is only for AirPods 2 or newer. You might see the notification to connect but will not be able to have the iPhone and Mac automatically switch between them. What a bummer right?
@@Mr.Macintosh tuffff. My airpods work with automatic switching though!
@@velxcity07 You must have AirPods 2 right ?
@@Mr.Macintosh no I have the pros
@@velxcity07 hmmm
I just switched to Big Sur and iOS 14, my Beats Solo Pro aren't switching correctly... when I want to use it on my iPhone it won't play any music, then when I have bluetooth on my computer it will just go straight through to my laptop, then everything sounds like a radio anyway... nice try Apple, but it doesn't work
It doesn't work for me :( I tried everything ://
It switches fine for me, but I don't get the notification
Adarsh, not sure if this is it but make sure your notifications are turned on and do not have Do not disturb on.
@@Mr.Macintosh I have it turned off for both my Mac and iPhone. Would it be because I have the 2nd gen AirPods?
doesn’t work for me did everything
detailed video, great explanations thank you !
you have done grate for us.
Still not working with my ipad and iPhone i have to manually connect all the fking time
They need to be on latest iOS version and same apple id signedin in both to work. Many people like me are facing trouble with connecting the MacBook and iPhone seamlessly
@@saurabhmyworld both are on latest ios same id but still Peace of crap
@@Bohemia39 have u checked iOS and airpod versions. It's has to be iOS 14.2 , airpod firmware 3A283
@@saurabhmyworld yes I did everything is up to date but still don’t understand what’s wrong
@@Bohemia39 ohh , I think the next firmware update should fix this for u.
Thank tou so much mr macintosh
is this possible to windows pc also??
Fevgatoz, this feature only works on macOS, iOS tvOS and iPadOS.
I don't have the connect automatically setting. neither on the iPhone nor the Macbook :(
I had the same problem because the AirPods I bought aren’t original apple AirPods then I bought others and the automatic switching works after i did the firmware update
I bought them in an apple store so I’m pretty sure they are original. But it suddenly started working the same day 🤔😂 I came back home, tried again and suddenly the options kinda popped up in the settings? Hahaha 😂
@@luisalarose great so you can update the new firmware that Apple release few days ago plug in the cable and leave them in the charging case and need of your iPhone if you have one of course
It must same icloud or not?
Hello Hendennis, yes you need to be logged into the same icloud ID on any device that you want to use Automatic Switching on.
@@Mr.Macintosh can we use Spotify or CZcams to CZcams?
Yes this should work with any audio source. BUT websites running CZcams or Reddit videos for example can be a little glitchy you might need to refresh the safari page to get it to work.
Luckily Big Sur is still in beta
For sure! Hopefully they can fix some of these issues before launch.
