Great example and tips guys! I tape around the end of my shotgun mic with a bright color gaffers tape (green or orange). It helps be to noticed the mic if my sound guy dips into my frame.
Good advice, thx. We've been using our Sennhauser as main source with cell as backup and on cam audio as a reference. Synch audio is done via a clapper, which has a color chart taped to its back to help with white balance and color correcting.
Just the standard voice recorder app built into the phone. It may be called something different on your device. Voice recorder, microphone mode, memo app, something like that.
Without a boom operator, things will certainly get tricky. We shot a scene very recently where we didn't have a boom operator, so instead we used a C-stand and boomed it on the stand. So the boom wasn't swinging, it was static, but since we were shooting a close up on a single subject without them pivoting in the shot, it worked pretty well!
