Good review, people often Overlook these old school vertical leg press machines so I appreciate that you took the time to make this review, I almost bought the Yukon version for 60 bucks used but I missed out on that and that one supposedly can hold up to 600 lbs instead of 400 lbs like this one but Yukon also has an angled leg press but it's a little bit more expensive but it looks pretty good but this one right here from Body Solid is probably the most economical vertical leg press available but people definitely need to not overlook these things because you can't put a ton of weight on them like you said because they are just straight up and down and not angled at all so you don't have to have as many weights which costs too much plus they're space saving compared to hip sleds for example but good review.
Two things which occurred to me for your issues with this machine: if you added firm extra padding to the base pad you would effectively enhance the depth of the squat; if you took the bar with the foot plate to a fabrication shop, have them grind off the existing plate and weld on a wider one made from quarter-inch chequer plate or similar. That should sort you out. However, if you're injured I suggest rest rather than training. It's frustrating but it's usually better in the long run. Kind regards from North Wales.
Good review, it would have been nice to see you actually doing a few repetitions on it but I'm happy that someone is actually talking about these vertical leg press machines because I honestly feel like they're underappreciated and not nearly as popular as what they should be especially for home use because of their smaller footprint and smaller price tags compared to much bigger and much more expensive hip sleds in comparison but I am curious how this Powerline model compares to the slightly cheaper but equal weight capacity Titan Fitness vertical leg press or the slightly more expensive Yukon vertical leg press that has a higher weight capacity at 600 pounds as well as the more expensive Yukon angled leg press that has an even higher weight maximum of 800 lbs and even the TDS New York barbell Premier leg press that's even more expensive that has 1,000 lbs as their capacity because I believe these are basically the 5 home versions of the vertical leg press that are readily available that are all basically from about $300 up to about $750 from the cheapest to the most expensive and the cheapest ones have lower maximum weight capability compared to the more expensive ones but good review overall and thanks for making the video.
I tried to record a few reps but my iphone camera was full and I couldn't transfer files quickly to free up space. Definitely an underappreciated type of machine.
I have just bought this for my home gym and been putting it together today and I haven't had the chance to use it but it looks pretty good. I got the Olympic plate attachments to it and was pleased that you can get all 3 20kg plates on it at the same time. I'll put an update once I have used it for a few weeks to let you know if I think it was worth getting. Thanks for the review.
Sean Ryan excellent! Definitely let me know
@@LiftingDad Hi, been using this leg press for a few weeks now and I love it. Very comfortable and ideal for what I want. Took a few sets to get used to it but it's brilliant. Definitely worth getting.
I was also thinking about space limitations when considering this equipment.
Just got mine had to drill out some holes because did match up for the bolts
This thing is over $700 now, which is still lower than other brands-but a lot more
That’s crazy!
There's one on the fitness factory website for around 500
Hehe I just bought a used one on Kijijii in Toronto Canada for CDN$500, these are amazing and worth it. A new one is about CDN$800+tax.
I ordered one from Titan fitness will see how it gos
We do actually have this product in the UK and have been thinking about getting one myself it's £300 over here MINT
Grey Wolf Fitness I’d say it’s worth that new. It’s been a nice addition.
Did you get one wolf?
@@paulhopkins686 didn’t get one in the end Paul as I’ve seen mixed reviews on them and if you’ve got a power rack head over to my channel and I’ll show you how to DIY a lever arm seated leg press
Wolf just looked at your channel and excellent work. New sub 💪
@@paulhopkins686 cheers Paul your a star MINT
3:05 Bro, I imagine if you place extra padding on the base pad you will be deeper into the movement as your entire body will be lifted somewhat in relation.
I ended up selling this a few months later
@@LiftingDad Geez, why ?
@@CFox.7 needed more ROM
@@LiftingDad is there no hacks to get more range of motion out of this machine then?
because i press a lot of weight; i wonder if i could do a 1-leg at a time on this thing, would it handle that better?
that likely would work on this.
Hello I'm 2 meters tall. Is this piece something for me? My legs are not short. Can I train well? Can I train Calves? Please let me know.
Ok 😞 Thankyou
Hi, I've seen them around $350. But I have seen them in action seem to be a little wobbly and having the pin to put back in seems not ideal. Yukon has one around the same price. Would you buy again? Thank you
william allen I sold mine, wouldn’t buy again. I’d get a decent used leg press (like BodySolid GLPH) for near that price.
@@LiftingDad thank you for your input good sir.
I’m 5-7 do you still get a good range of motion
I’m 5’8” and it worked well for me. I don’t know why I didn’t show myself using it for this review 🤦♂️
@@LiftingDad thanks for replying.Just wanted to check b4 I got one .
Can this replace the press if the weights were not the issue?
Replace the press as in leg press? If so, yes. Overhead press, no.
Your hip get better?
Thanks for the review I have been looking at it off and on via Amazon. My biggest issue is space at the moment
It's not a huge space filler. What's the max area you have?
Hi can a donkey kick single leg be done or with both for glutes? I’ll be facing the ground?
Likely no as you'd want that to angle up and slightly out but also you'd need to be setup closer to the footplate you'd press against.
Why not demo it?
Somebody has the manual to assemble it
Would this help me if i have degenerative disk disease?
That is a medical question and I wouldn’t be able to safely answer that.
No offense, but it looks pretty flimsy. I have ProMaxima FW-02 that I've had for over 15 yrs that's a whole lot sturdier than that junk.
Ismael Solomon if I were the one who made the equipment, it may have been offensive to say that, but I didn’t make this. Also, exercise equipment 10+ yrs ago was less susceptible to a great picture but a weak product (ie the thickness of the steel it’s made from can be overshadowed by a nice looking picture on the internet).
Hey, it’s Claude from GTA III doing a review lol jk. Anyways is this harder than doing a standard 45 degree leg press?
The load is directly over your legs so it requires less weight. It can be a little problematic if you have low back issues.
Please less talk n a demo.
To much talking. You need to demonstrate it.
I’m sure there are other reviews out there that focus more on the demonstration.
