Blair's parents did an amazing job raising him. I used to see him in church all of the time. He was always kind & gracious. All the celebrities would sit down in front of the stage, and Blair did too at times, but you could find him anywhere in the congregation with us regular folk, just trying to get the word. I knew it was something special about him, now I know why!!

I have no clue what it is to be married. I'm 55 and have never been down that road but my present man-friend got married at 16 and has 10 children by his wife and they were divorced after 30+ years of marriage. He said they gradually grew apart. They divorced after all of their children became adults.
An amicable divorce is what's key. No one fought over material things but a long lasting friendship is wonderful.
They have a beautiful family! I know being parents they helped the children to understand what was going on.
There are PLENTY of couples like his parents.

Grief can make people closer or drive them away. Or maybe it was something she felt was missing. We'll never know the truth. Wish them both the best.

Sometimes death just hits people in different ways and it impacts some of that person's most important relationships (marriage)... But just because two people break up doesn't mean they don't still have love for one another.. It's sad because this example of love is amazing.. It wasn't boastful.. It didn't act like it had anything to prove..it was strong.. Quiet and real. Only God knows why they couldn't make it.. but they ended the way it began.. I've never heard anything about Denzel but Samuel Jackson has spoken before about him cheating on his wife. He said he did it alot when he was doing drugs.
Denzel's wife filed for divorce and they lived separately for a while. He "more or less" admitted to his philandering ways but said he will never leave her she would have to file. His infidelity is an open secret. I think he gets a pass in our community because of all his accomplishments.

It’s sad a long term relationship had to end, but I’m glad to hear it was done with dignity and class. I always thought marriages that last this long would never end, but I’ve come to realize in most cases they’ve ended long ago, just things like waiting until children are grown keeps them together. Very sad, but definitely understandable. Sometimes we grow apart from each other. It doesn't necessarily mean someone screwed up, but when you've been with a person at a very young age, you maybe at a stage where you're just realizing who you are and what you really want. After 34 years, I'm in the process of a divorce as well, and it's extremely hard, but I'm glad they handled it classy. Wishing the best to the both of them as well as their kids.

RRG, not only did I enjoy this video I absolutely LOVE it. I always like Blair Underwood he played “Russell Simmons” in the movie “Crush Groove” and I attended the concert that was dedicated to the movie.
When I got married, I wasn’t a good listener either especially in our first few years because my football career was ending and everything was about me. Like Blair, I was trying to always solve problems and everything else instead of listening.
Now 21 years later, I learned how to be a husband, businessman and father including counseling former athletes who’s struggling with their transition as well.
My grandma died from the same illness as Underwood mother and I have absolutely nothing but respect for his father because that’s a job.
I hated that Blair and his wife divorced, but I’m praying for both of them to fulfill their blessings and wishes as well.

This is indeed sad to see such a great couple split. There is something I’m observing that is not being talked about, post children split. Many people who worked it out for the sake of the family decide once the children are all gone there’s no need to be together and they decide to split and go live their best life. Someone could make an argument for each side. Staying or leaving. It’s definitely a conversation that needs to be had.

I know the Hollywood scene is hard on any marriage. But 27 years seems 2 me 2 be way 2 many years 2 throw away. The kids are grown now and they cud have started focusing more on each other's needs now. But then that is just my opinion. We have 2 allow them decide when it's time 2 let go and move on. Nothing surprises me these days. Marriages go through seasons and with the way the seasons are these days, you can’t tell what season you’re in. It’s hard to let go of someone you’ve spent almost 30 years with but if it no longer makes sense then it’s time to move on. I hate that they couldn’t work it out.

All marriages irrespective of whether they are happy marriages or not, have a life span. For some, it's "till death do us part" that separates the couple while for others it's divorce. Sometimes people divorce because it's written for them to be with other partners at some point in their lives. It just has to happen for whatever reason. Divorce is always sad, and the romantics in us hate to see it happen, but it could turn out to be for the best for the couple concerned. And when it does happen, its good to see the marriage end in a healthy way
