Samford senior point guard Josh Sharkey was named second team All-SoCon by the media and third team by the coaches. Sharkey leads the SoCon in scoring (18.0 ppg.), assists (7.1 apg.) and steals (2.7 spg.). He also ranks fifth in the nation in steals per game, fifth in total steals, fifth in total assists and sixth in assists per game. For his career, Sharkey has scored 1,573 points, ranking eighth in school history. He holds school career records for both assists (748) and steals (282). He also holds single-season records for assists with a total of 239 during the 2018-2019 regular season. Sharkey is a tenacious defender and hard-nosed competitor. He has the ability to to run an offense and break down the defense off the dribble. Sharkey's production has earned him 89 overall rating in the Next Ones database.
