That’s really cool dude. I like the irony of the chainsaw creating a tree lol
I didn't even think of it until you said it but now it is so obvious. Fantastic insight. I'm jealous I didn't think of it myself.
farmer jackson From a dead tree at that!
That looks really good, I think I’ll try one. Your full of surprises Uncle Cy.
😁
I loved it natural I think
Looks like a real tree. Oh wait it is. Great job looks awesome.

very nice tree! You are a true artist!
what happened to the Holtzfforma bar and chain you had on the G388?
Did the chain hold up??
It did and does. I just put the 20 inch bar on it for the milling video and haven't switched it back yet.
Wow! You've been practicing - A true chainsaw artist, Next I want to see an 8 ft.Grizzly
Bear carved out of one of those big Logs your have lying around! Ha-Haa ! : )
Saw this yesterday but my computer was doing weird stuff! Couldn't respond then. I'm prepping for doing wood sculpting and the chainsaw is a great tool for removing large amounts of wood. Don't have any pecan up north. Fine grain? "Yah did good Cy!" Have you done much carving with a chainsaw?
I have over the years dabbled a bit with it. I have been carving my whole adult life though including power carving with Arbortech tools. About 10 years ago I started carving drums with chainsaw and abortech. eventually I got to where I can turn an entire drum from a log on my lathe (about 4 years ago) so had slacked off on chainsaw carving. However I am in a position now to do more sculptural work and of course have a yard full of logs with pretty regular new arrivals.
Pecan is really dense hard wood, pretty fine grain but not as fine as walnut (which is my favorite carving wood). I did a Bear in walnut recently then a Mouse in oak so when it came time to do the video I decided the Pecan would be something different :-)
Look for more chainsaw carving videos in the near future I already have orders for so carvings.
Hey cy when you’re doing the up cuts to do each layer of the tree the whole time you’re using the kickback zone. How do you stop the saw from kicking back!?
Carving bars are much less likely to kick back because of the small tip diameter. Don't get me wrong they still can but its much easier to control.
So I literally just started trying this. I made a pumpkin, I know elementary... But had to start somewhere. I want to try a tree this was a fantastic video! I do have a question I am using my sthils do I use no oil when carving? I am getting splatter.
I switched all my carving saws to Canola oil. It's clear on the wood and environmentally friendly.
@@DIYwithUncleCy Ok thank you for the tip!
What is that thing holding your carving called ?
That is called a Jaw Horse.
