5:05 Rule number one of track days: don't run OEM pads. Any car. I have Brembos on my '17 BRZ and easily cooked the OEM pads at the track. I know many people who cooked the brakes on their BMW M's. Meanwhile, folks have been running non-Brembo calipers on BRZ/86's with proper track pads successfully for years.
I do agree they should have offered Brembos as an option though.

The little plastic trim on the rear wheel arches are due to govt regulation. It's to prevent the wheels sticking out beyond the bodywork of the car. If not done they would not be able to sell them stateside.

My 2013 had the "bad" valve springs but I never got the recall work done and it wasn't an issue...at least during my 75k miles. Apparently, the GOV requires the wheels can't jut out beyond the body of the car and because of the design of the body at that point, they had to add those funny miniature "wings or spats as you called them" to comply with government requirements. This issue was explained in a Japanese CZcams video where someone asked the same thing you did.....

On the center console/cup holder situation…is it not possible to detach the inner plastic from the outer shell on the console? In that case could you possibly pull it out and rotate it 180 degrees and reinsert? That would kill 2 birds with one stone; moving the cup holders forward more and moving that button to the back.

Honestly, this is the first video I've seen where someone actually gets into the detail. A lot of other creators completely overlooked those annoyances, especially with the interior. It's enough to make me seriously consider not buying the car. What a bad design for the armrest, cup holders, USB locations, and no spot for your phone!

For the seatbelt thing, put your car key on the on position, then you want to put your seatbelt on and off 30 times in 30 seconds and itll shut it off until you unplug the battery again

There is a way to turn off the seatbelt ding. You gotta start the car on and off 3 times. Put the car to accessories mode step on the brake 11 times then push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times then turn on and right back off. Wait 3seconds then turn it on and give it a try. If it doesn’t work the first time then repeat the steps

Theres a way to turn the seatbelt chime off, you have to put the car into auxiliary mode (push the push button start twice) and then clip and unclip the seatbelt 20 times. It should turn it off.

A good idea is to find out whether the 2020 Toyota Supra rotor and disc brake conversion is compatible with the 86 BRZ because I'm pretty sure that would give you more development for improvement it's like I've seen a whole heap of people put skyline rotors and calipers on the Nissan Silvias

7:33 I don't like the start up animation compared to the GR86. One complaint that I have for the premium interior of the GR86 is that the JDM models have red stitching and accents while the US models have silver. I'm definitely swapping out of the transmission trim and other pieces to Alcantara with red stitching but the seats aren't really swappable unless I go to bucket seats and I don't really want to swap them right after taking ownership of it in 6 months.

They just added the Brembo package this week, at least for Canada. Was messing around on the builder this week and last, and last week it wasn't there but now it is. Good to know I will need the brake package, because I'm looking between a 2022 BRZ, a 2021 WRX (cause the new one is ugly), and a Q50/60, depending on the deals.

I love it so far though , I’m trying to find some wheels though any recommendations?
