"Hana Eltringham's kindly smile...." So TRUE! While we were in Clearwater, Hana was SUCH a kind and understanding, BRILLIANT person. I don't believe I ever saw her frown or say an unkind word to anyone. She made my time there just a little saner.

Extremely moving story. What a resilient person, to make it through these dreadful childhood experiences.

Very important talk by a 1968 vintage Hubbard "messenger". The late at night snatching of the offending Sea Org staffer, to face their punishments and isolating jailing, is tradition, Jesse Prince tells of it, Dennis Erlich tells of it. Other Sea Org members were often nabbed after hours, to avoid outburst spreading bad PR that such nabbing would logically provoke. So many huge historical threads and traditions of Scientology's Sea Org abuses Sharon details here. Very important history here to study!

I would love to know how Sharone is currently doing.
To my shame I was in the Church for 28 years and was therefore complicit in the abuses committed. I weep for those who continue their blinkered sojourn in the cult and my wish is that they remove their blinkers, leave and join those brave souls like Sharone who are speaking out.

Brings me to tears hearing this. I had a very similar experience and at 11 years of age. Sharone says it well. Hubbard should be locked up not her. So true.
Wouldn't we all love to pay hubbard a visit now we are adults?
    Down with the cult

Seems like the Sea Org is this little abusive bubble unto itself, while the other aspects of the cult are a little more free and normal and aren't usually aware of what's going on in the Sea Org. Well that's the impression I got from this testimonial.

I thank you for all your comments, very much appreciated. I would not recommend it. You are villified, abused even more and the press ignore you just like scientology does. According to scientlogy and to the press you are a degraded being. Young as you were, you asked for this, well I never did. My own half sister in 2013 made ammends for my speaking out, she managed to get Scientology as a place of worship in the United Kingdom. She has been 'in' for 50 years since birth. Can you imagine that? Scary! And all three of her children are in the Sea org, so I am lead to believe.
We did not have the internet when I left scientology, back in 1969 and I was told in no uncertain terms by scientologists "if you say anything about us, you will be locked up in a mental institution" as a12 year old child and knowing what I did, I believed that. Which is why It took me so long to speak out. Now, I know the mental Institution IS Scientology...

+Sharone Stainforth Thank you very much Sharone for speaking out. I just listened to the Brian Meets...podcast and you were terrific. Brian could have educated himself more on the subject before having you on and just been a better interviewer in general but you were brilliant. The story of your dad was heartbreaking, I can't believe the trail of human wreckage this cult leaves in its wake. I was never involved in Scientology but I follow it closely and am very well read on its history etc. Thank you again for sharing and I hope you are well.

+Kuato Lives I am very well, thank you. I'm glad you liked the Brian Meets...podcast. I was a little worried how it would turn out. Overall, I am pleased with it.Unfortunately, Scientology has left a huge wake of human wreckage in it's trail and when it quotes these absurd figures for helping people and giving aid to the masses it makes my blood boil. My aim in life is to make sure no more youngsters get sucked into this cult. I work hard at informing as many teens and young adults as possible, anyone who will listen.
I spoke to two teenage girls the other day, they told me it sounded interesting and like a Science (Scientology - where science meets religion...their own advert) Scary, huh! They are now suitably informed.
Thank you, for your comments, much appreciated.

In reply to Steve Layton. In Corfu in 1968, people were overboarded daily on the Royal Scotsman, in Corfu renamed Apollo to ingratiate the Corfian officials. I suggest you read the Commodore and the Colonels by Major John Forte MBE.He was the British Vice Consul in Corfu at the time. Also accounts from Hana Eltringham /Whitfield, Alan Walters and many others can verify this.Overboarding happened daily for several months, whilst the "Commodore" laughed and smiled.

That's the best anti-Scientology, and therefore pro-truth, declaration I have ever heard.
Her father was an absolute fool. A daughter is a precious gift, and he let her go to hell for the sake of his own silly ego.
Because that's why people *really* get involved with Scientology - the ego and its demand for importance.

Mike Ryan An excellent point. People are able to be past life Napoleon's, and Scientology is the only place where it's encouraged. Allison Hope Weiner has interviewed Mark Ebner, who astutely pointed out, that for many people, it's a religion of self. The process of auditing, when you think about it, is self indulgent.

I pray every day for those who are still enslaved by scientology (even if they don't realize it yet), and I hope and pray to God that this horrible and dangerous cult will be removed from the face of the earth.

Hubbard on the ship could perfection his methods - and David Miscavige was a Commodres Messenger - so he learnt the vile manner to dominate and enslave other people firsthand. No doubt he was also damaged by the circumstances).

Child abuse at its finest. I still blame the parents for their child's abuse. If you're a parent of a child and you are in the Sea Org then shame on YOU! You abuse your children and then you hand them over to others to abuse them! GET OUT OF THE SEA ORG!!! Take proper care of yourself and your children! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING????
