      It's consistent with attrition, a matter of preparation and timing. NATO has foolishly given Moscow justification to expand their operation and borders, and the paddle is ready.
      How long will the welfare queen reign? Even if the US switched off their entire war kitchen, 5+ years are required to restock/rebuild their military. They'd have to surge 155mm production to do that at all, or will never recover. And that's to meet today's world, not to face the Russians, Chinese, Iranians, etc. of 2030.

      @@denishudzik484I don't think so, russians have like 700k on the frontline, Ukrainians have 900k troops in general. This includes all military personnel, even like TSS officers. Russians have 1.3 million active personnel, 700.000 of them on the front. They were equal for some time both having around 600k but I think Ukraine has less at this point considering their mobilization issues.

    • @SincereSentinel
      @SincereSentinel Před 24 dny +17

      I hear you. Sumy could be the actual location of a massive Russian assault, whilst the Kharkov area is merely being used to tie down and exploit Ukrainian vulnerabilities along the front there (and elsewhere) in the meantime in doing so, forcing Ukraine to make incredibly difficult decisions on their allocation of troops/artillery etc.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 Před 23 dny +9

      The network of roads and rail coming from Kharkiv would be helpful for getting behind Ukrainian front lines, aiding the primary objectives of destroying Ukrainian forces and liberating Donbas. The Kharkiv network also leads to Dnieper crossings that would eventually open the road to Odessa as well.

      Utterly unpractical. Belgorod is being shelled from Kharkov direction, not Sumy. Kharkov is Ukraine's second biggest city and has plenty important industrial complexes. Sumy does not. Kharkov is seen as part of Novorossiya, part of Ukraine which according to many never should have been part of Ukraine. Sumy is not. Finally, proximity. Operations in Kharkov can directly cooperate with main existing frontline further east, possibly even combining in the future. Hardly a case with Sumy.

    I don't think the point of this offensive is to take Kharkov, at least not at this stage, I think it's mainly meant to overextend Ukraine's already undermanned army and force them to commit the reserves that they need to stop the main Russian push toward Pokrovsk and Konstantiniivka that will likely come in June or July. Basically set up a dilemma do the Ukrainians want to defend the Donbas or Kharkov? Because they don't have the strength to do both.

    Besides the obvious spreading thin of forces, this will make it harder for Ukraine to build fortifications on the Adiivaka front. Where they are badly needed. As with the new front opened they will need to send their construction crews and equipment there to build which will mean less being built elsewhere

      In fact, there is a logic here. Donbass itself is a huge fortified area due to its dense urban development. If Kharkov is taken, it will create a threat to the entire AFU grouping in the Donbas. It may come to the point that they will have to surrender half of the left bank of the Dnieper

    • @WaqasAfzali-ls5yi
      @WaqasAfzali-ls5yi Před 24 dny +14

      @@zincha2762 I sort of knew about that. I think that's what the Soviets did after winning Stalingrad. They couldn't pass through the industrial zone of the Donbas hence they went for Karkov instead to flank the Germans.
      Putin doesn't seem to be going for that strategy. Since one of his goals is the demilitarization of Ukraine, I think he sees the Donbas as the best place to demilitarize them.

      At the Start of the war that was true but since the USA, NATO and Ukraine can't seem to honor any cease fire agreements that's basically out the window. Remember back in 2022 Russia pulled out from a lot of areas without warning it wasn't due to logistics and shortages in men it was because Ukraine had a list of demands for surrending Russia kept their side of the deal and pulled out it's troops but Ukraine,USA and NATO betrayed Russia 3 times and put troops in those areas and the USA and NATO send more weapons. A lot of this was explained when Tucker Carlson did the interview with Putin.

    I understand people may having moral or righteous stakes in taking sides in this conflict, but we shouldn't forget there are men (and women) dying every day.
    If you have a father, a brother or partner that would be of fighting age, think for a second how you would feel knowing you will never see them again for the rest of your life because they died in a war.
    I wish people would take just a second to think about that before cheering on either side or making fun of the other :( It's easy to say things from the comfort behind our computers and phones. Imagine not being able to shower or take a sh*t in peace because of the constant explosions that literally shake your bones. Incapable of being able to relax. With your body eventually getting used to the stress and no longer knowing how to relax at all (PTSD). Some of these people dying you could've potentially met and been good friends with :(
