- In this series of "How To" mini-guides I show how to undertake some of the core tasks in PC survival game Stationeers.
These videos were made in August 2022 and show the mechanics and processes that are in the game at this time.
Each video is intended to be short and cover one specific topic. You may need to watch more than one to complete a construction project.
In this part:
How To Cool Your Base
If the temperature in your base is too high then your crops will die, and you could risk a fire.Cooling is vital so producing a sustained food supply and for general safety, but is more complex than heating. - Hry
I've watched a few of your how to video's.. I like your style. no showing off, no waffle and showing things on the basic level on how to do it. Well Done Sir
New player here. Been trying to find a simple, no bs, vid that explains how to set it up, and how it works. You are a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you.
Very nice commentary! Liked
When I tried to do something like that i had the problem that the gass always cooled down until getting to liquid and destroying the pipes.
I used low pressure and mostly CO2 gaß
The gas changes since I made this video are the reason. It's on my list to remake for that reason. Pollutant makes the most versatile coolant as long as the operating temperature is over - 98c
The problem is that the vacuum radiator keeps working even when the cooler is off, and will eventually cool the CO2 until it freezes solid in the pipes. I found that having the same pipe setup but with a CONVECTIVE radiator on the interior (instead of an active cooler) works great. But for small interior spaces in early game you may have to remove the outside radiator every few days (or else it could actually get too cold for plants and player). At least until you can create a programmed climate control system later in the game.
Why is the waist tank filled with o2? Also dont yoy just start with co2 filters? So how did anything else get in their?
Would putting the pipes under the base rather than on the roof help them cool faster? I'm thinking that the sun may be heating them at least slightly.
Make sure you use Radiation Radiators if you are in a vacuum like the moon. Convection radiators wont work.
Yes good shout! They changed radiators since I made this video!
Do these pipes need to be insulated now?
An excellent tutorial.
The pipes on the wall cooler should NOT be insulated (unless you're in a hot environment, in which case cooling becomes a whole big problem). The wall cooler works by dumping heat from the room into the gas in the pipes and relies on them radiating the heat away to the outside. In fact once you can make steel you should add radiators to those pipes to speed up the heat dumping
cool
Haha :)
