I hide them too. I hide them for whoever it makes happy. I've had some really good fun exchanging with crew members who ALSO hide them. No way would I want to put restrictions on them.
Cruising Ducks should be for everyone. On my last cruise in May, our cabin steward had two teenage daughters back at home so I gave him duck earrings for both girls and I was so happy to know they would enjoy them. In fact, maybe even more so because those girls may not have had the opportunity to find duck earrings back at home. Plus, he got the pleasure of sending them something they would enjoy that also let them know he was thinking about them while away at work.
I saw a crew member channel where their friend was giddy she found another duck for her collection. This woman was living for 9 months away from home in small quarters and training athletic stunts so she can entertain passengers. Let her enjoy the damn ducks.
Sorry, couldn’t relax around the pool because of the action film being shown. So, now what do I do when I can’t relax onboard? Spent much more time in my cabin that cruise. You think I enjoyed it?
I found a duck and showed it to one of the young ladies in the Gelato shop and she loved it. So I "hid" it behind the napkin dispenser on the counter...when she "found" it, she was thrilled!!
I buy a new fan every few cruises…about $25 and I leave the fan for the steward to use in their own cabin because it gets so stuffy in their areas. Makes them smile.
If they put fans in every cabin, there would be people that would complain that they were there even though they don't want one. Either ask for one or bring your own!
We left behind an empty suitcase on Panorama, under the bed... Carnival said they couldn't find it.. the tracker shows it now resides in the Philippines... interestingly, that is where our cabin stew is from...

I left my Yeti cup on the counter when we left our bags in the room on embarkation day (right at 1:30 more or less). The room stewards had already cleaned our room but still had their carts in the hallway, so we grabbed our S&S cards and left - thought nothing of it. When we came back it was gone, so…yeah…

I was on a Norwegian cruise and went to the spa for a massage. I took off my necklace, a gift from my husband, and when I got up to get dressed the necklace was gone. It was very valuable (Tiffany’s) but the sentimental value to me was priceless. The masseuse swore she didn’t take it, staff looked on the floor etc but no luck. I even had the head of security come to my cabin the night before debarkation and ask to search my room and my bags?! Of course the masseuse took it. No one else was in the room. Never got it back. Disgusted.

No more Carnival cruises for me! I’m tired of the foolery! Last year we took a Celebrity cruise on the Solstice and went to Alaska. A few weeks ago another her Celebrity cruise on Equinox to Greece, Turkey and Ephesus! It was as amazing and no fights broke out! 😊❤
The first time I saw the rubber ducks on Carnival I had to ask a crew member why were they so excited to get one. They told me it was just fun to find them or to be given one by cruisers. I saw an older lady give the staff in the buffet ducks, which made them happy. Who cares who gets the ducks??? I was😮 under the impression it was for everyone.
We were on NCL Sky while you were on Jade. I took 50 ducks to hide. Several of them I actually hid on the carts of the room stewards parked in the hall. I put one on a tray of silverware one worker was actually carrying. I also handed them to crew members with their thank you cards carrying their extra tips. Why can’t crew members enjoy the fun too? I always put tags on the ducks with the ship and sailing date. I think it’s fun for crew to have a little something to remind them of their time on board. I’m sure if someone didn’t want a crew member to have them, they could put on the tag to please leave for passengers, but I also think that would be petty. Last year, we threw a surprise birthday party for my husband just before one of our cruises. The party favors were little cardboard suitcases filled with candy. (It was a travel themed party) We took the leftover party favors with us. We gave them to the crews of the airplanes we flew on and back and to the cruise crew that helped us too. They really liked it. There is no reason not to treat people who are so helpful nicely.

C) I bring a small USB fan that easily fits on the nightstand beside the bed, cheap on Amazon and takes up very little space in a carry on. D) I "hide" one duck a day, but I do not attach QR codes or anything to them. I don't care who finds them. As long as it makes someones day a little brighter, then that makes me happy.
A bartender on an NCL ship saw me hide a duck in his bar and collected the duck and approached me. I thought I was in some sort of trouble. He asked if he could keep the duck for his three year old daughter as a souvenir? Ifvi opposed he'd put it back. I said certainly they are for who ever finds them, I gave him a $20 bill to take to his family as well.

Having fans available is a great perk for customers just like extension cords being available. Request when booking. 4. Vaping in smoking area is probably the best way to keep the complaints down. 5. Port Canaveral is not close but better than Miami. I'll have to check out Equinox.

Joy and I sailed on the Celebrity Equinox because of your video. We did the glass blowing, which was fun and now we have very special souvenirs from that cruise. Loved the ship, the crew, and the food. 😎
I leave my phone, tablet, laptop out, I've left my handbag with my purse out ready for the next port. I've left jewellery lying about and never once has anything been taken. I had a medical disembarkation in Scandinavia and the service desk had to pack all my gear, I gave them my safe numbers and they packed everything well with not one thing missing, including my expensive jewellery. I find they are very trustworthy. 29 cruises with princess, 5 with p&o, 2 with celebrity and 2 with carnival. All left from Australia except for 3. I have no qualms with staff in my room. Any thieving would be rare and the exception.
1.) I use a fan all the time, but I have no problem bringing it with me. I do wish however, they would supply kettles in the cabins like they do on the UK cruises. That would be cool since we can’t bring our own kettles. 2.) Who cares if the crew members like the ducks too? Hey Tony! Don't call my beloved duckies stupid! 😅. I love hiding duckies, and also handing them out. I bring between 300 and 400 duckies and im pretty sure some are being found by cruisers. But i make sure to hand out most of them to the crew. I love to see the excitement and smiles in their faces!
Don’t take it personally. It is an established fact that Tony dislikes towel animals too. 😂 I think he fears both towel animals and rubber ducks, but is too macho to admit it! 😅
On Wonder in February, they had huge screens with videos showing puppies, etc. They had movies on another screen. I love watching movies on cruises!! I actually make a movie night. People need to just pay attention to what makes them happy and leave everyone else be. I think if a crew member finds a duck they should be free to post it online and either keep it or rehide it.
A couple comments. 1 As someone that quit smoking cigarettes 11 years ago by switching to vaping, my personal thing is getting stuck with cigarette smokers. Since I got my sense of smell back, I think smoking smells terrible compared to vaping, it gets into your cloths and sharing the smoke deck is not ideal. I don't complain though. The smoking areas are big, and you can usually step away from the smokers.2. The crew maybe be taking them for their collections, but they are also taking them for some other reason. On my last carnival cruise, I was in the jewelry store with my son and when they opened one of the cabinets under the register, they had a bunch of ducks in it with the tags still on. My son said something, and they gave him one. It was one hidden by a passenger. I think it's more of an issue of the ships not wanting them sitting around for too long, whether the crew takes them and gets rid of them or keeps them for their selves.
I love hiding Duck and i love seeing the Crew finding them when so many people have already past them without being found and anyone can find them not just passengers
I worked in Pulmonary. The docs say vaping is worse than smoking. Im allergic to the smoke. I dont want to deal with vape smoke. There are designated areas for smoking/vape. I respect and appreciate that and make my entry through the casino very quick. Nonetheless, i dont gamble.
I love how triggered people get over cruse ducks! I never look for them, but when I happen to find one, I never take it, but does make me smile for a bit.
I don't ever use a fan unless I'm desperate, however I do see where installing fixed place fans that can rotate in inside cabins would be a good creature feature.
Avatar (James Cameron's) is one of my all-time favorite movies. I waited years for the sequel and when it finally came out I wasn't able to see it immediately. It just so happen to debut on the Carnival Vista the week we cruised, which just so happened to be my birthday. We basically had the entire theater to ourselves. I got to see the Way of Water on the ocean. Iconic. I will NEVER forget that moment. So, the cinema holds a special place for me ❤
Regarding hiding ducks, given why they were started, to bring joy to a sick child on her cruise, let the crew have fun too. Joy is contagious. Let them be happy, they have to be apart from their family and friends for months. If this brings them a smile and allows them to do their work happier, then don't we all win?
I think we would appreciate money more since the cruise lines don’t pay them much, each passengers are charged per day an amount that will be paid out to crew members- are passengers supposed to pay some of their wages - cruise line should pay their employees a decent wages, because without them you won’t have any passengers booking cruises
Movie screens on the Lido deck - I agree with you that lots of people watch movies there. I never have and probably never will but they’re popular so that person needs to take a chill pill. Vaping is almost identical to smoking in subjecting people nearby with a cloud of fragrant smoke. It might not be as smelly as regular cigarette smoke but it’s something I and other non-vaping/smoking passengers shouldn’t be subjected to. I am not a fan of cruise lines providing a fan in every stateroom. If collecting rubber ducks brings happiness to a crew member who has a hellacious work schedule and, for most crew, is undertaking a monotonous, hard job, then I think they should be allowed that modicum of happiness.
We take ducks and hide them. My wife hands out ducks to small children and they are delighted to get them! It doesn't matter who gets the ducks if they bring joy, who cares!!
I absolutely LOVE the Cruise Ducks thing, but I swear, the more that cruisers make a stink about it, the more of a pain in the butt it will become with the Cruise Lines... and then BOOM - DUCKS WILL BE BANNED! Cruises are for everyone....even smokers. Now smokers should only smoke in designated places. But I don't want to be the person to think I'm the only one important on the ship.
As a nonsmoker, the thought of breathing your cherry flavored vape cloud is nauseating. Please please please keep the vaping in the smoking area so us nonsmokers don't have to breathe it. Thank you in advance 😁
Ducks are for everyone, some people even bring special ducks to give to crew. Vaping, there does need to be more areas! In the old days smokers usually got to enjoy the port side. I know today we won't get half of the ship, but there does need to be more locations and need to be spread out a bit, maybe the aft one most newer ships have, but there needs to be a mid ship one as well and at least one where you don't have to stand in bad weather or walk in the rain to get to.
If they started allowing vaping anywhere, it would only be a matter of time before smokers would smoke in non-smoking areas because you can't tell the vapor that is expelled from regular smoke.
I think Carnival became a Billion dollar company by not buying fans and showing movies on the Lido deck, thus forcing people to go outside to get their fresh air! Absolutely Diabolical!
As an aside to my last comment- I’ve never had anything stolen from my cabin that I recall. I’ve had small things like my glasses, or sunblock go missing- but I’ve chalked that up to my own forgetfulness…. I have air tags on my luggage and travel day bags - so I sure it would be a shock to have them ping in another country (as someone else mentioned) - but if I had accidentally left the whole bag behind (and depending on how quickly I figured that out and reported it) I’d chalk that up to a failure in my part.
Equinox was my first Celebrity ship too, back in 2011 (Med cruise). Great class of ships… liked it so much, in fact, I went back the following summer and did it again! :)

I bring my own fan. I don't smoke/vape, don't particularly like it, have had people in adjoining cabins vape on the balcony but didn't rat them out. As far as the movies on the big screen, I have enjoyed them but wish they were also available in cabin. The ducks are there for ANYONE to find...the crew love finding them, too, and they're away from home for so long, a little bit of joy goes a long way. I also have never had anything stolen, but I also don't leave anything out. I'm more amazed my fellow travelers don't take stuff when we leave things on the lounge chairs on the Lido or dining tables in the buffet area while getting more food.
For me (solely my opinion) the pool screens running all day long take away from the laid back vacay experience. I think they’re great though for select times of the day like movie nights. The issue really boils down to using them judiciously. Continual bombardment with ads would be a no- no for me.
On my last cruise, I was watching crew members finding much enjoyment looking for the ducks in Central Park. I was happy for them as it gave them joy.

We fixed the fan problem, we book balconies. The sound of the waves and the fresh air to us is 100% better than a fan.
We had a Havana Balcony on our first cruise, so now won't book anything else. :)

As a fellow fan user, I also agree. I have a USB powered fan that I put in my carry on. Fits on a small box, bottom folds up. Works great.

For sea days, I spent time Reading/listening to a book, on my Balcony, watching the sea go by. I also spent time at the waterpark and in the pool.

People need to just pay attention to what makes them happy and leave everyone else be. I think if a crew member finds a duck they should be free to post it online and either keep it or rehide it.
WE love watching movies on the cruise.
I know of crew members who collect the ducks. They work so hard, let them have this little bit of fun during their onboard days. 🐥🐥🐥
A couple comments. 1 As someone that quit smoking cigarettes 11 years ago by switching to vaping, my personal thing is getting stuck with cigarette smokers. Since I got my sense of smell back, I think smoking smells terrible compared to vaping, it gets into your cloths and sharing the smoke deck is not ideal. I don't complain though. The smoking areas are big, and you can usually step away from the smokers.2. The crew maybe be taking them for their collections, but they are also taking them for some other reason. On my last carnival cruise, I was in the jewelry store with my son and when they opened one of the cabinets under the register, they had a bunch of ducks in it with the tags still on. My son said something, and they gave him one. It was one hidden by a passenger. I think it's more of an issue of the ships not wanting them sitting around for too long, whether the crew takes them and gets rid of them or keeps them for their selves.

Im allergic to the smoke. I dont want to deal with vape smoke.
There are designated areas for smoking/vape. I respect and appreciate that and make my entry through the casino very quick. Nonetheless, i dont gamble.

I love how triggered people get over cruse ducks! I never look for them, but when I happen to find one, I never take it, but does make me smile for a bit.

I don't ever use a fan unless I'm desperate, however I do see where installing fixed place fans that can rotate in inside cabins would be a good creature feature.
Avatar (James Cameron's) is one of my all-time favorite movies. I waited years for the sequel and when it finally came out I wasn't able to see it immediately. It just so happen to debut on the Carnival Vista the week we cruised, which just so happened to be my birthday. We basically had the entire theater to ourselves. I got to see the Way of Water on the ocean. Iconic. I will NEVER forget that moment. So, the cinema holds a special place for me ❤

Regarding hiding ducks, given why they were started, to bring joy to a sick child on her cruise, let the crew have fun too. Joy is contagious. Let them be happy, they have to be apart from their family and friends for months. If this brings them a smile and allows them to do their work happier, then don't we all win?
I think we would appreciate money more since the cruise lines don’t pay them much, each passengers are charged per day an amount that will be paid out to crew members- are passengers supposed to pay some of their wages - cruise line should pay their employees a decent wages, because without them you won’t have any passengers booking cruises

Movie screens on the Lido deck - I agree with you that lots of people watch movies there. I never have and probably never will but they’re popular so that person needs to take a chill pill.
Vaping is almost identical to smoking in subjecting people nearby with a cloud of fragrant smoke. It might not be as smelly as regular cigarette smoke but it’s something I and other non-vaping/smoking passengers shouldn’t be subjected to.
I am not a fan of cruise lines providing a fan in every stateroom.
If collecting rubber ducks brings happiness to a crew member who has a hellacious work schedule and, for most crew, is undertaking a monotonous, hard job, then I think they should be allowed that modicum of happiness.

We take ducks and hide them. My wife hands out ducks to small children and they are delighted to get them! It doesn't matter who gets the ducks if they bring joy, who cares!!
I absolutely LOVE the Cruise Ducks thing, but I swear, the more that cruisers make a stink about it, the more of a pain in the butt it will become with the Cruise Lines... and then BOOM - DUCKS WILL BE BANNED! Some people are just dumb and ruin it for everyone else. Btw Tony, do you have the TITANIC lego model yet? 🙂

We take a very small fan for the room. The hum helps me sleep but it does not fan the room. The temp control in the room is perfect for us
I have actually left ducks specifically for cruise staff. Bartender loved the ducks so I hid one just for her.
I'm sick of other cruises speaking for me. I don't WANT A FAN, no you shouldn't smoke it's bad for your health and especially inside.
Cruises are for everyone....even smokers. Now smokers should only smoke in designated places. But I don't want to be the person to think I'm the only one important on the ship.
@ACDQUEUE I should have said in smoking areas. I'm a former smoker now with asthma, so am concerned for others because of the health aspect.

As a nonsmoker, the thought of breathing your cherry flavored vape cloud is nauseating. Please please please keep the vaping in the smoking area so us nonsmokers don't have to breathe it. Thank you in advance 😁
Ducks are for everyone, some people even bring special ducks to give to crew. Vaping, there does need to be more areas! In the old days smokers usually got to enjoy the port side. I know today we won't get half of the ship, but there does need to be more locations and need to be spread out a bit, maybe the aft one most newer ships have, but there needs to be a mid ship one as well and at least one where you don't have to stand in bad weather or walk in the rain to get to.
I bring my own fan. If you can afford a cruise you can affird a fan. LOL
If they started allowing vaping anywhere, it would only be a matter of time before smokers would smoke in non-smoking areas because you can't tell the vapor that is expelled from regular smoke.
I think Carnival became a Billion dollar company by not buying fans and showing movies on the Lido deck, thus forcing people to go outside to get their fresh air! Absolutely Diabolical!

As an aside to my last comment- I’ve never had anything stolen from my cabin that I recall. I’ve had small things like my glasses, or sunblock go missing- but I’ve chalked that up to my own forgetfulness…. I have air tags on my luggage and travel day bags - so I sure it would be a shock to have them ping in another country (as someone else mentioned) - but if I had accidentally left the whole bag behind (and depending on how quickly I figured that out and reported it) I’d chalk that up to a failure in my part.

Equinox was my first Celebrity ship too, back in 2011 (Med cruise). Great class of ships… liked it so much, in fact, I went back the following summer and did it again! :)

I bring my own fan. I don't smoke/vape, don't particularly like it, have had people in adjoining cabins vape on the balcony but didn't rat them out. As far as the movies on the big screen, I have enjoyed them but wish they were also available in cabin. The ducks are there for ANYONE to find...the crew love finding them, too, and they're away from home for so long, a little bit of joy goes a long way. I also have never had anything stolen, but I also don't leave anything out. I'm more amazed my fellow travelers don't take stuff when we leave things on the lounge chairs on the Lido or dining tables in the buffet area while getting more food.

On my last cruise I gave cruise ducks to the workers for doing a great job. They loved receiving them.
Fans in our cabin? I wouldn't mind people clapping and cheering ....... Oh wait ... Not that kind of fans? Sorry 🤣
For me (solely my opinion) the pool screens running all day long take away from the laid back vacay experience. I think they’re great though for select times of the day like movie nights. The issue really boils down to using them judiciously. Continual bombardment with ads would be a no- no for me.
It's amazing to me how few people have any clue how a business is run.
