I’m not sure who the man is married to is relative to the discussion. Secondly Byron Donald is a professional buck dancer but he did tell a half truths . Byron Donald did a terrible job of framing his argument. There were a plethora of issues of the black family structure. People framing the black family as together isn’t a real reflection of the black family since antebellum slavery through Jim Crow . Dubois book the Philadelphia Negro he encapsulated on the black family in Philadelphia. The high rate of children out of wedlock, high unemployment of black men which caused the deterioration of the family. Unfortunately most black Americans have no interest in reading on the black family during antebellum slavery and Jim Crow . The Negro Family by Edward Franklin Frazier an excellent read on the black family structure after the reconstruction era. Dr. Kenneth Clark the Dark Ghetto encapsulates on the pathology of some blacks living in urban cities and the propensity of women choosing to be single mothers.

..and they kept this running…for awhile at least. Until they get rid of the black voting rights altogether.

Exactly. You can be in an interracial marriage and be proud of your heritage. I'm not married to a white man, but I've dated a few. And they've shown me more respect than the black men I've been around. That's why I don't usually date black men. What makes me angry about this guy is that he uses these talking points to please his white base then tries to hide behind his race when his behind gets whipped. The sad thing is there are plenty of black men like him and they should be ashamed of themselves. The sad part is they're not. Hopefully, they won't have to learn what being black in America means the hard way.

That’s what I was thinking. Why talk about the way the Black family during the Jim Crow era without talking about all of the atrocities during Jim Crow.

What he was saying is that in spite of the atrocities we were going through in the south, black families were still together. What's wrong with that

@@stwmedia8279 Noting how Black families managed to cling to one another in fear as their houses were burned to the ground by the Klan or how they dragged all the family members off to be lynched together from the same tree is a weird flex on the idea of "halcyon days," bro.
If you can't see why going out of the way to fabricate a silver lining on a time period marked with legalized terrorism of the Black community is problematic as hell, then you're not ready for this conversation. What's next? Reminding Jews how close knit their families were during the Third Reich?

Also, let's not forget that a criminal record will often make you ineligible for financial aide. So, black folks are more likely to be rounded up and charged and then imprisoned, and then when they have paid their "dues" they can't get an help to get an education.
