Closed cell foam should pop nicely. The bubble bags were nice, but a sheet of bubble paper with very small cells would make a lot more pops. A light bulb would explode, but nobody needs to be cleaning up a pot full of shredded glass. I can think of a few plastic tube items that would swell nicely. For these I would pinch the ends of lengths with a piece of dowel that fits, and a zip tie.
