I’ve had my friends DJI Mini 4K and wanted something similar, on Amazon this came with 3 extra batteries and charger for around 250-260$. This is exactly what I was looking for as far as a detailed description and showing step by step process and hooking up app, etc. I’m not too worried about the image stability as much as just taking nice photos and straight forward videos. I am waiting for mine to arrive next week and the more reviews I see the more I'm happy with my purchase. Admittedly it has some minor bugs that POTENSIC need to work on (hopefully) they will. Over here in Australia These sell for around $390 up to$500 +/- odd Aussie dollars and in the same price range as the DJI Mini 2 SE and the Faith Mini 2, and man did I do some shopping around until I found the right price with free shipping and coupon discounts on eBay, Amazon and a few of the local retailer here in Australia . I Eventually checked the POTENSIC ATOM SE then discovered there was a 3 axis gimble version but slightly more dollars with a 5 kilometre range, Oh well, no regrets I'm happy. So far most of the reviews I've seen the presenters have the same minor bugs and follow me lag as you found but it does work but target follow me would be an improvement. Agreed. If they had put a 2-axis gimbal on it to stabilize the horizontal axis with EIS for the rest.....maybe the next iteration. I'm actually gonna send Potensic a note about that. If they can still keep the cost down in that kind of configuration they will be an even more affordable alternative.
There are some really nice places here with character. It actually snowed yesterday though! Here where I live they're gearing up for the annual Tulip Time festival so I'm hoping to get some good shots of the fields of tulips.
I comparison shopped, learning and losing other drones for months. I fly in the city. This is it! Does what I need and want. Resolution is excellent. Stop nit-picking. For about 200 dollars, this is it! You'll never remake Gone With the Wind. Get real. DJI can go scratch. The Potensic SE doesn't crash. Controller is perfect for me. I'll get a 3 axis model soon.

If you're spending 300 USD on a drone, it's better to get one with a 3-axis gimbal. The DJI Mini SE and Fimi X8 Mini V2 provide better value with their longer range and flight time.
Not everyone likes to spend money to DJI - what has a customer service like “miss & hit”. On top, they tell you to use only the DJI App. If not, no warranty anymore. And you can’t use batteries not supplied by DJI. So it is getting ridiculous expensive with DJI. And yes. I did had a drone from DJI. For everyone else, who likes to use a drone here and there, a 2.7k drone, brand XYZ does it for around $100.
@@holgermessner851I just returned a DJI MINI 2se, it didnt let me fly it due to restrictions, the thing is full of restrictions all over! I do have a Holy Stone HS720E and has excelent video and stabilization, the only bad thing is it has no distance range, at 200 meters signal gets cut off. I had one of the old Potensic and it was good also and customer service is excellent! So what is the range on this one and does it has restrictions? Thanks for video!

I got my first drone in May 23. It was a Flyhal FX1 w/ 2 battery and case. I think I paid $170.00 and I loved it. GPS, 3 Axis gimbal and it was full size. I sold it in Nov and got the Fimi 2022 V2 and love it also. I highly recommend the flyhal or it's also the MJ X Bug 16 for a first drone. Because it's bigger it's more stable in the wind and easy to see and very Durable.
Where at in Michigan? I just have to say thanks for speaking clear and not having that annoying music in back ground while talking. Half of the reviews you can barely hear the voice
That's awesome, glad you're enjoying. I think this is a great choice for a first drone. But....if you get hooked like I did, you'll be looking to upgrade at some point.

I see that when you use the follow me it won’t keep you in focus because it’s not focus tracking . It’s just following the controller via gps. Now to keep yourself in focus just control the camera while using

Nice video. I'm looking to buy 1 of these affordable drone, but I'm looking to get the best 1 in terms of stability & control in flight, I know some of them likes to drift & sway even when you're not pressing the controls.
Great video! How well does this drone handle wind? Where I live it is usually quite windy most of the time. I am looking for a budget sub 250 gram drone especially with FAA remote ID rules right around the corner!
I'd expect a drone at this price to have a 9km transmission and a 3-axis gimbal for stable shots. You might want to explore the DJI Mini SE and Fimi X8 Mini V2 as they offer more features for the same cost.
@@GadgetInspector With recon units the gap is reduced. I bought a recon unit from DJI and was shocked! It came in a new box packaged exactly like a new one. Batteries were brand new. Thank you for the great video and showing off the many features of this drone, I'd love to have one like this. As a total noob who has never flown one, I have to ask about the noise. Is this especially noisy to operate around the house without upsetting the neighbors? Also, any tips on flying it in a quieter manner if needed, if that's even possible? Thinking of getting one for scenery views when we go camping but might have to learn around the house before heading out, thus the noise question. Thanks!
Different drones have different tones and loudness depending on the size and composition of the props. This one is fairly quiet, but drones have a recognizable sound so they're not exactly incognito. You really can't hear them that much when they're hundreds of feet up and out. Your lawn mower or leaf blower are way louder.
Question: Will the controller accept a small tablet? Samsung Tab A7 Lite in particular. Having trouble finding this info. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Mine has trouble seeing satellites inside .. dji mini has no problem. Also it went nuts the other Day on low battery return to home. I am about to send it back.

I read comments for the Potensic Atom 3-axis gimbal on Amazon that after certain updates the drone no longer work right. Do you have similar problem with the Atom SE? After a year is the drone and battery still working ok? thanks
🤣 depends on the bird. Some birds are territorial and will 'attack'....the most I've experienced is them swooping around the drone (any drone). Most of the time they just ignore it. Believe it or not, the way to deter them when they start swooping and circling is just to throttle straight up or straight down. Works everytime for me.
Was thinking about picking this up to get some low cost aerial shots on my CZcams channel. There are so many drones at this price point to chose from not really sure which one to pick
This one has the best resolution for photos and video amongst those that I have tested. Not even close. You just have to be deliberate about getting the horizon level since it doesn’t stabilize horizontally.

Enjoying your videos very much. Are the controls reversed on this drone, from what is normally modes 1 vs 2? They assign 'Model' 1 as having throttle and rudder (climb and rotate) on the left stick? I thought that normally called 'Mode' 2, used as our US standard. Are they claiming Model 1 is Mode 2? I don't want to crash it my first time up. Thanks kindly.
Hey thanks! I'm not sure about that, but it defaulted to mode 2 for me right out of the box. I didn't even think about it or notice it was mislabeled. As a part of your preflight check I'd also take it to an eye level hover and test what mode it's in using very gentle/slight/feathered stick inputs before taking any higher in altitude.

In my package, they have eliminated the paper manual, but do supply plenty quick start and other short guides leaflets, and the manual is downloaded from the app. It was in set up videos in the app that I noticed the different nomenclature, then too, the download. I have a question! I’m a first time drone user and I may just be dumb but I can’t figure out how u adjust the angle of the camera. So everything is just facing the ground and I don’t know how to look up. I saw you do it in the video but couldn’t see you hang controls 😭 14:02
Can I buy a gimbal for the camera or how can I prevent the camera to tilt? Also, can I do tricks like 360 flips and stuff either manually, on the app or on the controller?
Potensic says they're releasing one with a 3-axis gimbal, not sure what the timeline is on that. No acro mode with this one. You'll have to look into some of the FPV drones for that.
Great review. Just subscribed. I've had an Atom SE for about a month and it has been 100% reliable. It's stable and the app is well polished. I agree if it had a gimbal to stabilize the horizon, it would be almost perfect. I read where they might be coming out with a 3 axis gimbal version soon...hopefully not just a rumor.
Hey thanks Randy and thanks for your subscription! I actually got confirmation from my contact at Potensic that they are in fact working on one with a 3-axis gimbal. They already have image quality, stability and features on the right path, so that will probably be a really popular drone.

I have the potensic Atom and Iam using my galaxy z fold 4 but I keep getting "please connect to controller" message when trying to callobrate. Any solutions????
I wouldn't mount a GoPro on any GPS drone. That's a disaster waiting to happen. You should look into FPV drones for that. Even some of the cinewhoops will accommodate a GoPro.
I wouldn’t put more than 5-10 grams on this thing. You’d also have to be careful about where you place it so it doesn’t throw the equilibrium off. It’s such a tiny thing.
The back of the drone flashes green when I'm flying just wondering if its to tell me its connected to gps tracking? Cause I have 20 satellites and it says ready for take off
My Atom Se's Headless mode is not working properly. I have to do Compass Calibration each time before taking off even at the same place. Otherwise it makes Toilet Bowling. Is it normal?
Quite a few things could affect transmission. It's usually other signals interfering. Try turning on airplane mode, i.e. turn off data and bluetooth. Sometimes nearby devices can cause problems or wifi signals in a residential area. I've even had some wacky things happen near a 5G tower. I'm surprised to hear this about the Atom SE though because my feed was rock solid and the areas I fly in are fairly residential.
DJI is making it hard for its customers. It’s becoming harder to keep up on the latest drones and versions. I mean, a drone is launched and it seems like a few months later when I’m just about ready to buy….. they leak that a new one is coming soon. Unless you watch nearly daily, you get left behind. It becomes very hard for new drone users and even casual ones to keep up with models and versions etc. It hurts them.
What’s funny is I am just about to post on my community page about this very thing! I want to see how many folks hang on to their tech for an extended period of time vs. always buying what’s new. I have some stuff that I bought years ago and haven’t upgraded.
@@GadgetInspector me too brother. I started years ago with quads that literally went 50 feet yet cost $100. Then over the years just piled up drones as they were released. I’ve had Parrots, Autel etc. I recently started selling them (the old ones)and giving them away. The parrot for example was awesome when released…. But quickly faded. It used your phone as the RC with no remote. Controlling the parrot was a nightmare but the drone itself was one of the best around at that time. The parrot stopped making software upgrades for the one I had and the ap needed online disappeared( they took it down). I dismantled it and kept the motors , servos and camera and big old heavy battery and threw the rest in the garbage. I paid hundreds of $$$ for it when new. I am currently interested in buying the Air2 that just came out but DJI is already saying they got something new on the horizon! I’m lost at when to buy right now. Given all the drones I’ve bought and how quickly something new and better came out…. It’s tough!
I switch between drones so much I honestly don't remember. I believe the only setting that can be changed is white balance but there's a timestamp for when I go over app settings: 5:37 App settings

I figured out the image wasn't mechanically stabilized so I CANCELLED the order on Amazon, got refunded after 1 hour, and purchased the ATOM 4K with 3-Axis gimbal instead 🙂🙏 Thx Man I'll watch your other video right away 👍 Oh and btw I got my drone license, so I know how to well behave when Flying.

I see that when you use the follow me it won’t keep you in focus because it’s not focus tracking . It’s just following the controller via gps. Now to keep yourself in focus just control the camera while using

Great video! How well does this drone handle wind? Where I live it is usually quite windy most of the time. I am looking for a budget sub 250 gram drone especially with FAA remote ID rules right around the corner!
I honestly haven’t put this one up in windy conditions but it’s advertised to withstand scale 5 winds. That’s gusts up to 19-24mph.
I'd expect a drone at this price to have a 9km transmission and a 3-axis gimbal for stable shots. You might want to explore the DJI Mini SE and Fimi X8 Mini V2 as they offer more features for the same cost.
Yea if you want to spend a little more those are both better drones. Depends on if you want to/can spend a hundred bucks more or higher.

With recon units the gap is reduced. I bought a recon unit from DJI and was shocked! It came in a new box packaged exactly like a new one. Batteries were brand new. Replacement blades and everything. Also, I think QVC sells DJI and allows people to break up payments to make getting it easier. Great video man!!! Very helpful and fun to watch! Thank you!!!

Thank you for the great video and showing off the many features of this drone, I'd love to have one like this. As a total noob who has never flown one, I have to ask about the noise. Is this especially noisy to operate around the house without upsetting the neighbors? Also, any tips on flying it in a quieter manner if needed, if that's even possible? Thinking of getting one for scenery views when we go camping but might have to learn around the house before heading out, thus the noise question. Thanks!
Different drones have different tones and loudness depending on the size and composition of the props. This one is fairly quiet, but drones have a recognizable sound so they're not exactly incognito. You really can't hear them that much when they're hundreds of feet up and out. Your lawn mower or leaf blower are way louder.

Mine has trouble seeing satellites inside .. dji mini has no problem.

I'm not sure how you get that crisp an image whereas all my tests are grainy, at best. Even the 1080 doesn't feel like 1080!
I believe you can increase the bitrate in the settings if memory serves me. Turn it all the way up!

I read comments for the Potensic Atom 3-axis gimbal on Amazon that after certain updates the drone no longer work right. Do you have similar problem with the Atom SE? After a year is the drone and battery still working ok? thanks
I haven't flown mine in a while, but I never had any problems after updates. It usually made the drone better and added features.

🤣 depends on the bird. Some birds are territorial and will 'attack'....the most I've experienced is them swooping around the drone (any drone). Most of the time they just ignore it. Believe it or not, the way to deter them when they start swooping and circling is just to throttle straight up or straight down. Works everytime for me.

Was thinking about picking this up to get some low cost aerial shots on my CZcams channel. There are so many drones at this price point to chose from not really sure which one to pick
This one has the best resolution for photos and video amongst those that I have tested. Not even close. You just have to be deliberate about getting the horizon level since it doesn’t stabilize horizontally.

I've not been able to get a hold of a Fimi drone. I've always wanted to test their drones out. Maybe one day.....lookout for some great things from Potensic though, coming soon.

Are the controls reversed on this drone, from what is normally modes 1 vs 2? They assign 'Model' 1 as having throttle and rudder (climb and rotate) on the left stick? I thought that normally called 'Mode' 2, used as our US standard.
Are they claiming Model 1 is Mode 2? I don't want to crash it my first time up. Thanks kindly.
Hey thanks! I'm not sure about that, but it defaulted to mode 2 for me right out of the box. I didn't even think about it or notice it was mislabeled. As a part of your preflight check I'd also take it to an eye level hover and test what mode it's in using very gentle/slight/feathered stick inputs before taking any higher in altitude.

In my package, they have eliminated the paper manual, but do supply plenty quick start and other short guides leaflets, and the manual is downloaded from the app. It was in set up videos in the app that I noticed the different nomenclature, then too, the download.

Potensic says they're releasing one with a 3-axis gimbal, not sure what the timeline is on that. No acro mode with this one. You'll have to look into some of the FPV drones for that.
Great review. Just subscribed. I've had an Atom SE for about a month and it has been 100% reliable. It's stable and the app is well polished. I agree if it had a gimbal to stabilize the horizon, it would be almost perfect. I read where they might be coming out with a 3 axis gimbal version soon...hopefully not just a rumor.
Hey thanks Randy and thanks for your subscription! I actually got confirmation from my contact at Potensic that they are in fact working on one with a 3-axis gimbal. They already have image quality, stability and features on the right path, so that will probably be a really popular drone.

I wouldn't mount a GoPro on any GPS drone. That's a disaster waiting to happen. You should look into FPV drones for that. Even some of the cinewhoops will accommodate a GoPro.

I wouldn’t put more than 5-10 grams on this thing. You’d also have to be careful about where you place it so it doesn’t throw the equilibrium off. It’s such a tiny thing.

Ohhhhhh....that actually means the drone has sufficient GPS satellites. That's perfectly normal.

My Atom Se's Headless mode is not working properly. I have to do Compass Calibration each time before taking off even at the same place. Otherwise it makes Toilet Bowling. Is it normal?
Definitely not normal but I actually never use headless mode. I’d look into returning /exchanging or see what customer service says.

Quite a few things could affect transmission. It's usually other signals interfering. Try turning on airplane mode, i.e. turn off data and bluetooth. Sometimes nearby devices can cause problems or wifi signals in a residential area. I've even had some wacky things happen near a 5G tower. I'm surprised to hear this about the Atom SE though because my feed was rock solid and the areas I fly in are fairly residential.
DJI is making it hard for its customers. It’s becoming harder to keep up on the latest drones and versions. I mean, a drone is launched and it seems like a few months later when I’m just about ready to buy….. they leak that a new one is coming soon. Unless you watch nearly daily, you get left behind. It becomes very hard for new drone users and even casual ones to keep up with models and versions etc. It hurts them.
What’s funny is I am just about to post on my community page about this very thing! I want to see how many folks hang on to their tech for an extended period of time vs. always buying what’s new. I have some stuff that I bought years ago and haven’t upgraded.
@@GadgetInspector me too brother. I started years ago with quads that literally went 50 feet yet cost $100. Then over the years just piled up drones as they were released. I’ve had Parrots, Autel etc. I recently started selling them (the old ones)and giving them away. The parrot for example was awesome when released…. But quickly faded. It used your phone as the RC with no remote. Controlling the parrot was a nightmare but the drone itself was one of the best around at that time. The parrot stopped making software upgrades for the one I had and the ap needed online disappeared( they took it down). I dismantled it and kept the motors , servos and camera and big old heavy battery and threw the rest in the garbage. I paid hundreds of $$$ for it when new.
I am currently interested in buying the Air2 that just came out but DJI is already saying they got something new on the horizon! I’m lost at when to buy right now. Given all the drones I’ve bought and how quickly something new and better came out…. It’s tough!
It can definitely be overwhelming. I have the Mini 3 Pro and Air 2S and both are high quality drones. I gotta stick with those for a bit longer.

I switch between drones so much I honestly don't remember. I believe the only setting that can be changed is white balance but there's a timestamp for when I go over app settings: 5:37 App settings

@@GadgetInspector Actually Dude, I literally "purchased" the Potensic ATOM 4k SE, THEN.. I figured out the image wasn't mechanically stabilized so I CANCELLED the order on Amazon, got refunded after 1 hour, and purchased the ATOM 4K with 3-Axis gimbal instead 🙂🙏
