Thanks so much for watching! Did you ever get a chance to check out Tutenstein? If so, did it help lead you to a love of learning about Egyptian History and Mythology?
I watched dozens of episodes & remembered almost nothing. Thanks for the reminder.
PLEASE REMEMBER GROWING UP CREEPIE! nobody ever knows what im talking about, it was also on discovery kids and had those little irl info blurbs about things in the show. it helped me be less afraid of bugs growing up
omg and kenny the shark had shark facts!
I was always more of a Time Warp Trio kid. This was a good 2nd place though.
What about all these greats
snorkels tv show
angela anaconda
godzilla series
pocket dragon
Holy crap dude, you are literally digging into the deep recesses of my mind with all of these shows that I haven’t thought of in years. Thank you for bringing them more attention 🙏🏿
Thank you for watching!
This is so wholesome. I love you guys.
I remember back in the 3rd grade the teachers would just put random early 2000 shows for the class if there wasn’t anything to do. This was one of them
Yes, thank you!
Literally remember watching this show once on a tv in a Pizza Hut when I was a child.
I have no idea why this is a core memory.
I have some kind of similar memory. I don't remember where, but I watched it on a public TV. I never watched Discovery Kids at home but I definitely watched it at a restaurant or waiting room or something!
i remember seeing it in the lobby of a movie theater but i still watched the show before that
I still have this memory of my grandma complaining to my mother that "Today's cartoons are more sinister" because old polish, czechoslovakian etc. cartoons had a "nice characters" and now kids are watching some mummies and other weird things :D
Lol, not sure what your grandma watched but old cartoons were really violent compared to today's.
Feels like every generation complains that the next generation's content is "too immoral" when the media that they consumed was just as, if not worse in that regard.
(Disney execs cutting The Owl House's 3rd season down due to it being "too scary" and "not fitting the Disney Brand" comes to mind. Which is pretty hilarious and infuriating, because there have been way more horrifying Disney movies in the past, like The Black Cauldron or The Hunchback of Notre Dame, just to name a couple.)
@@yeemawheaver1387 And just plain scary. Like the some of the old black and white disney films. Skeletons dancing and all lol the nerve
I still remember the cartoon about the Mole...
@@ninjapotatolorf6237 That's pretty much what I was thinking when seeing this comment. I grew up with some terrifying animated movies, but I came out fine at the same time. In fact, I think I grew up with a better imagination and some awareness of real life problems as a result. Nowadays, kids are really being shown some overly friendly and just plain awful cartoons (that are not Disney thankfully).
Tutenstine is 100% a show I hadn't thought of in years. This, Grossology, Kenny, and Future is Wild were some of my faves. God I miss Discovery Kids.
It's now Discovery Family.
OMG YES! I LOVED THIS SHOW. I was really into Egyptian mythology.
Right there with ya Jordan! This show, Yugioh, and The Mummy got me real into Egyptian history and mythology!
Do you remember Mummies Alive?
I never finished Yu-Gi-Oh! Mainly because I had a serious crush on Big Yugi!
@@GeteMachine never had a chance to see it
Same hehehe
What a throwback 😂 as per usual Jordan Fringe unlocking childhood memories I forgot about 😂
Glad there's a channel dedicated to Zillennial childhoods
I do remember this show. It was one of the only cartoons with a black female character I saw growing up and I loved it because what elementary schooler wasn’t super into egyptology and greek mythology at the time lol. I loved watching documentaries about egypt at the time so this show had a special place in my heart.
Tutenstein was AMAZING and SEVERELY UNDERRATED, glad to see someone aknowledging it
I still can’t get over Cleo’s grandad partying with the gods. Especially with the goddess of love!😂
Yes. I never forgot this show. It was my jam.
Tutenstein and Kenny the Shark were my favorite shows on Discovery Kids. I don't remember much from these shows, but it's great seeing them get the recognition they deserve.
Maybe you can help me with this one. I think I remember watching a show on that channel about 3 guys that time travel. I forget the reason why they do that and in one episode they go into the future and find their descendants. In future episodes, sometimes their descendants would also help them or get mixed in their adventures. I also remember the show the future is wild but that may be a different channel.
@@Twinklethefox9022 Somebody in a different comment mentioned a show called Time Warp Trio, I believe this is the show you are thinking about. I personally don't remember watching it, but I do recognize the characters in the quick google search I did
That’s Time Warp Trio. I always really enjoyed the show and it made me laugh.
I’ll be honest. I completely forgot this existed until now, but it was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Really great video!
as a little kid I remember my teacher put this on during a history lesson and I got super into the show and by the end of the year she bought me the whole series on dvd
Sounds like you had a really awesome teacher!
Awww that's wholesome
I'm glad you keep bringing me back nostalgic memories of forgotten cartoon shows
I remember the chess episode so vividly i thought that show was some dream.
Tutenstein had to go against against giant lady and some friend suggested him cheat and the kid instead just accepts defeat and gets some kind of message out of it.
Bastet, the cat goddess, if memory serves. Scenes from that episode have been living rent free in the back of my mind as well.
Funny thing. I had this nightmare of playing massive chess against some god and I always felt like my dream was simillar to a show or something and you in a comment brought all my memmories of the show back and that one particular episode
chess? I think its Isis the Goddess of Wisdom. I believe Tut thought he was the best at the game and wanted a worthy foe. And his ghost friend told him to cheat or he remembered a cheat his friend did.
6:24 i really liked the episode where he gets smarter, cuz it doesn’t go the usual route where he gets too big for his britches, he genuinely improves upon his job and life while remaining a totaly chill dude.
I just don’t get why Thoth had to take it all away😢
I loved this show so much!! And almost no one I talk to irl knows what the hell I'm on about when I mention it. It's so nice to see so many people with good memories of it.
I remember the show, but not in a lot of detail. Seeing clips of some of the side-characters and antagonists really made all of that rush back to me. Very nice. Had a similar experience with Rocky and the Dodos a couple of years ago.
I have been waiting for a Tutenstein video! I needed vindication that it actually happened! I loved it as a kid but it felt like it was over so quick and back then there wasn’t a way to rewatch episodes, at least not that 7-year-old me knew. I loved this show!!
Holy shit you did it again , flooding my head with memories
Ah so tutenstein was what it was called. I distinctly remembered a cheating life lesson episode, but couldn’t find the show anywhere a while ago, so thanks for uploading and proving I wasn’t imagining it 😊
I'm so glad to see someone else remember Tutenstein, whenever something good wasn't on Nicktoons Network or Cartoon Network for me as a kid, I would always be watching Discovery Kids. I loved shows like Kenny the Shark and Time Warp Trio but Tutenstein was always my favorite animates series from this channel. Also, anyone else remember their live action stuff like Truth or Scare, Mystery Hunters and Flight 29 Down? Those shows also came in clutch
As a fellow kid obsessed with Ancient Egyptian history, this was one of my favorite cartoons
Having Tutenstein being in the Marvel universe is an interesting concept, and I do think it should be revisited again probably (I say this because I think the comic that was released was an advertisement for a school type program or something similar)!
What's the point? Marvel already has Living Mummy, Mummy (Battleworld), and Mummy Moon Knight.
TUTENSTINE!!! I loved this show and I really like how deep and detailed you go into the history and making of the shows you cover, I learn so much about beloved shows I used to watch and gain a newfound fascination for them!
Glad to see more Tutenstein discussion. I was pretty into it as a kid. Now we just need a Time Warp trio video, that was my favorite out of the Discovery Kids lineup that got cut short.
You... that name.
I've been searching for that show for _years._
ur entire channel is made around awakening memories that i thought were fever dreams, please keep this up
Really liked this show, tnx for doing these episodes Jordan!
Thanks for watching!
OH MY GOSH!
I've been looking for this FOR YEARS!!!
I literally saw it *once* while visiting my aunt's house in another state, and she had a different channel plan from us, so I got to watch shows that I didn't have access to at home, and LITERALLY all I remember from this show was the intro sequence, and I thought it looked interesting from the premise, but I never got to watch the show itself, and I couldn't remember the name!
I occasionally over the years would have flashes of that intro sequence just randomly pop into my head, and it felt like an itch that I couldn't scratch for the longest time...
UNTIL NOW.
Thank you for allowing me to place a name to this face that's been bugging me for YEARS!
*Thank you!*
I was always hoping you'd cover this someday to help me with this itch, and I'm glad to see that my hopes were fulfilled! ^^
Glad I finally found this in my recommended today. 😁
You don’t understand how much these videos are needed!😭 my nostalgia urge gets so satisfied with those commercial cuts just like back in the day. Def think about doing a time warped trio one! I used to watch discovery kids allll the time before we got rid of cable
OMG! I adored that show. It fueled my obsession of the Egyptian mythos at the time.
I remember waking up at 4:30 am on school days to watch this! It only ever played on that Discovery channel in that time block. I’m minoring in Medieval Studies right now but this show holds such a special place in my heart
I loved this show and I wish it would get an official full series DVD/Blu-Ray release!
this is my favorite channel. Ive been trying to find a channel that dives deep on matters of nostalgic cartoon shows.
OMG, this show shaped my love for Egypt and all things mythology. It was also just generally a familiar show that never failed to make me happy.
I do love this show, thanks for talking about it, I didn’t grow up with it, but I love Egyptian mythology, so that’s how I came upon on this
Real talk, thank you for plugging your gaming channel. I came across your channel and fell in love with your content because of all the long aged memories that have sat in the cardboard box of my brain that you have helped to dig back up. Thank you for what you do, Jordan, and I can't wait to see what you have in your catalogue of gaming insights.
This is crazy! I was literally just thinkin' about this show like 3-4 days ago, and now you deliver this gem!
I’m glad you are making people remember shows that are obscure
Ok. I RARELY ever post comments because I don’t feel people really care what I have to say but I honestly know that the Discovery channel is a big reason why I love to learn as much as I do. There is so much that is interesting in every aspect of life. @Miss TyMay 2000 nailed it on the head! Kenny the Shark, Grossology, Tutenstein, Growing up Creepy, and Time Warp Trio were how I preferred to start my mornings.
Just HEARING Kenny the Shark made me literally scream. I miss these shows so much and I’m glad you’re even briefly touching on them.
Thank you for making me feel validated in the shows that brought me so much joy growing up!
Oh my gosh you just brough back so many memories for me, this really was an awesome show
I have not thought once about this show since the last time I watched it as a child. You unlocked a major memory. This had to have been my starting point for my interest in Egyptian history and mythology. It remains one of my favorite subjects to this day.
I've had basically a lifelong obsession with ancient Egypt that I'm pretty sure stemmed from me watching this show when I was like 3 back in 2003. If I hadn't studied art in college, I honestly think I would've gone for a degree in archaeology or classical studies, and it's crazy to think that so much of my interest in the ancient world stems from me loving this show at such a young age
I had quite a fascination with Egyptian stuff as a kid
I knew this kind of show existed somewhere in the depths of my mind.
I LOVED Tutenstein!! And I gasped when I saw your video's thumbnail!! Thank you for this!
This is one of those shows I've been waiting for you to cover. When I was younger I barely saw the show on but when I did I loved it!
This really was my gateway to history
I remember this was one of the shows I watched back when Discovery Kids was around. I think this is a good show.
YOU JUST UNLOCKED A MEMORY I HAD OF THIS SHOW. I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS SHOW IN SUCH LONG TIME.
You earned my sub, my dude, because you're bringing back shows I have not seen in a VERY long time.
This video popped up on my recommended and it opened up memories of me watching this show i didnt remember until just now! Crazy!
Oh yes i loved it
I think a good backstory for why Tut's soul is trapped in the mortal world and why his heart hadn't been weighed when he died was because of the sins of his father Akhenaten, also known as the "Heretic Pharaoh". He was the real life father of Tutankhamen who attempted to upend thousands of years of Egyptian mythology by abandoning the worship of the Egyptian pantheon for worship of the sun disk also known as Aten. Bottom line, it didn't go well and Tutankhamen was left holding the bag after his father died and he had to fix all the political and social problems his father created with his attempt at religious reformation. I would have loved it if the movie was about Tut's father challenging the gods of Egypt, leading to his demise and Tut having to pick up the pieces while also explaining his predicament in becoming an undead mummy and not given a place in the afterlife for what his father did, or something like that.
dear god, I recalled this show for years and could neverfind it. I was beginning to think that I made it up. Thanks so much.
how are you unlocking my deep core memories?! i was absolutely OBSESSED with this show.
I know a LOT of people have likely said this, but your ability to rip obscure shows I saw exactly once and plant them in front of me is uncanny. Also, Tut looks like a character who would be voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz, even though he's not. I'm not the only one who thinks that right?
Richard Steven Horvitz using Billy’s voice, or Tara Strong with Omi’s voice would work for Tut.
I watched Tutenstein on Discovery Kids back then!
@LJ Yeah I remember watching that to! Remember Mia and Miguel.
@@FTChomp9980 Yes, I love Mia & Miguel. I used pretend my hair tie would light up like Mia's when I got an idea😅 Remember George Shrinks?
@LJ I probably forgot about that show but I do remember watching Kenny the Shark as well. Discovery Kids had a lot of good shows! Especially The Time Warp Trio!
this show was one of my favorites growing up and I still had vague memories of it but until your video I never knew the name of it and while it didn't made me become interested in Egyptian history its one of the reasons I became interested in character design
Most of your videos are really really good, but this was so niche and even a pain to find as a child, I really appreciate this video.
MAN! You just unlocked a major memory for me. Thanks man
Jordan are you hooked into my brain, cuz every time I think about an older show boom you make an episode about it... its uncanny
This brought back memories! I remember watching this on The Hub(or maybe when it was still Discovery Kids?) along with a bunch of other shows, The Future is Wild, Dinosapien, Transformers Prime, and Deltora Quest to name a few. I loved those shows as a kid and this made me so nostalgic. It feels like a lot of these shows were mostly forgotten.
Man, I was thinking about this show for a good 2 years now, but couldn’t remember.
Thank you very much!
Tutenstein was what sparked my interest in Egyptian mythology !!!
Another classic...and I feel you dude...this show introduced me to my first of Egyptian myths and folklore....I just snowballed from there with every form of myth, literature etc...
Great vid! Loved to catch Tutenstein whenever I could as a kid, definitely didn't know it had a movie! Hoping you do an episode about Mummies Alive! since its another cartoon revolving around Egyptian mythology & action shenanigans
I actually remember this show and wanted to do a rewatch for a while. Thanks for this little throwback.
I still have that theme music stuck in my head! Haha I loved Luxor - his dry humour reminded me of Salem in Sabrina
I remember this show. I think I saw it on Cartoon Network, but only a few episodes. I liked it, and just accepted that Tut was undead and Luxor could talk without needing the first episode.
I don't remember seeing the deities or movie, but I do remember the episode where Luxor and Cleo switch bodies.
Man this and Kenny the Shark are shows I definitely saw, but you absolutely cleaned the dust off of my memory as a kid. Damn.
Funny now that you mentioned it. Just like you I was also in love with this show and with history and a mythology about Egypt. It left mark on me like when me and parents watched the Mummy, I was explaining what I know from show, they were so baffled by my knowledge of Egypt mythology. As result I got book called Egyptology as my christmas presents and I still have it ever since. It definitely made my day😁
Man I love the artbstyle of this show from the characters to the backgrounds, si cool
My memory is improving from your videos, reminding me of these shows I forgot even existed.
i found this series on youtube years after it aired and I fell in love with it, I was deep in my egyptian mythology phase so I was OBSESSED
i think about this show constantly but never remembered the name AND i saw someone (you) finally made a martin mystery video 😍 had to sub
I love vids like these! Before this vid, I watched the "WAIT remember Edgar and Ellen" vid and it immediately made me subscribe hoping to find more forgotten gems from my childhood. Though Tutenstein wasn't forgotten by me others shows definitely were. Thank you for unlocking parts of my memory this way.
My gratitude is genuine but here I want to talk a bit about my pet peeve with cartoons.
I love remembering shows from my childhood through vids like these. The thing that always irks me a bit is that the samples shown that have sound are never truly part of my childhood. (And I know that is a me problem) Kid shows are almost always dubbed in my country so the voices of the original cast are never the voices of the cast that are part of my childhood. For some reason, kids in cartoons from the USA are also really high-pitched.
So the pitch and the lack of nostalgia makes it for me no fun to rewatch as an adult, it also isn't always easy to find the complete series in Dutch either. (For the record, I did manage to rewatch part of Tutenstein in Dutch because all the seasons were on youtube. But this was before youtube got a lot stricter with everything. I haven't tried searching again but I don't have high hopes)
holy shiiiiit i looked this up remembering i watched it on dvd as a kid and wondered if someone had made a video like this!!!!! awesome as always
Dude u hit all the nostalgia I loved this show
Omg yes!!!! I've been thinking about those old discovery kids shows a lot lately, Tutenstein and Kenny the Shark especially 😭 and the trading spaces boys vs girls one was wild too lol. this was so nostalgic im so glad you made this video
Thank you for covering this show! I have only the barest of memories regarding this, mainly that I enjoyed it. The most concrete memories though are 1. the episode shown at 3:31 and 2. that I surprised one of my teachers by recognizing a sphinx at the age of 7, all thanks to this cartoon.
Thanks for reminding me. I had vague memories about it (mainly from the episode where the hero, under the influence of a spell he chewed, grows faster) that I can now recall.
Bro.....been trying to find this cartoon from my memories for years. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I was LITERALLY just wishing if you would cover this yesterday while watching your Edgar amd Ellen video
I sadly didn't get to watch the show as a kid but I recently found it after coming across a tweet about Ready Set Learn.
This show means soo much to me cause around the time I started watching it, I started getting bad stomach pains and sometimes throwing up what I ate. Tutenstein became a huge comfort show for me and I hold this bratty mummy boy near and dear to my heart.
totaly forgot about this. i loved it as a kid. crazy i remember the visuals. i wonder when it stopped airing here.
Honestly I'd watch an hr long video of you talking about each season in great detail, maybe one day
I loved this show!
It only ran or a short time here and in a very awkward timeslot, which is why i haven't seen a lot of episodes.
Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful show, I really have to do a full watch of it now
I remember asking Google about a "cartoon ancient egypt with mummy kid that dies in the opening" to find it.
Sometimes I feel like I've dreamed this show. Nobody in my country seems to have memories or simply heard about it yet I know I saw it on TV as a child! Tutenstein was amazing and got me strongly into Tutankhamun's life and egyptian mythology. Thank you for talking about this gem!
this show, and Time Warp Trio were a huge part of my childhood. loved both!
Oh my god the relief I had when seeing this thumbnail was something unworldly!! I had this show in the back of my mind for years but could never remember the name or anything that happened in it to help me find it!
WOW i vividly remember watching this show and enjoying it every time i caught it on TV somewhere.
I remember I stumpled upon this show by accident and seeing just one episode. I had no idea what it was about, but I liked it. And I never saw another episode, not for lack of trying, but because I didn't know show's name and therefore, could not find it again. It's been at the back of my mind since and I've felt a sense of shame for not being able to see it.
So, I owe you one. I'm off to find more episodes!
Oh my GOD dude!! I saw ONE episode of this ONCE as a child and it has always stuck in my head but I had NO idea what it actually was!! I’ve always wondered but thought I’d never know!! Thank you for giving me this closure.
woahh this really brought back a memory i haven’t thought of in years that’s crazy
Really dug deep to find this memory and show.
I love that you're hitting all of these nostalgic classics that has seemingly little to no following or remembrance. I mean how could we forget mummy with funny looking crowbar. Classic.
But for real though all the videos you've been releasing have been top tier. 👍👍👍👌👌👌👏👏👏
I remember not getting to watch as much of this as I would have liked to... but I probably still watched more of it than I thought, considering I (now) remember even seeing the ending!
I assume I simply liked it a lot - mythology always having been one of my very favorite things - and thus feeling like there was never enough.
Super happy to be reminded of this one
Yes! It's on CZcams and I'm definitely rewatching.
Favorite show among the many cartoons I have watched back in the old days. Alongside with Prince of Egypt, it made me feel thrilled and excited to see ancient Egyptian themes and myths on television.
