My girl is a flipper. She loves toys that she can either flip upside down or roll. So she had a small pet bed and large foam dice to play with 😛

Thank you so much for this! I have been worried my girl is bored and wanted to take our time to the next level. I felt sad she was in her bin and then snuggled with me and that's about it. Since watching your videos I have had so many more experiences with her. She even has adventured outdoors with me to my school's new tree house playground. This toys video is exactly what I needed today to give me a confidence boost and a shopping list! Love your work!

My hedgehog is very curious but lazy... but I'm sure she'll love the fleece forest! I also found that treat balls for cats are good foraging toys! they have to move it around to get the treat.

Hello there! I am a new hedgie mom and I loooovee your videos! i just could not find something. I got recommended to buy chinchilla sand for my hedgie but in lots of places the do not recommend a sand bath for hedgehogs... I would like to know your experience with it (: thanks a lot!
My hedgies favorite toy is a silver crinkle ball! It’s super ratty but I can’t take it away from her lol. It used to be in my males cage, but I was cleaning it one night and of course cinny got her paws on it! Hasn’t let go since.

I have two guinea pigs that love to chew on their actual cage instead of their chewable house which is not good bc it’s a wooden DIY cage. I’ve tried TP rolls for them to chew on but they won’t do what toys would be good for them?

fire ash hey if you still don’t have yours yet and need a cage idea, look up on CZcams “Herro Ayana” she has a really useful and cheap cage idea. It’s what I’m gonna do. Scroll through her recent videos and you’ll find it. I hope this helped.

I have litter under his wheel on a pan and an extra tray with his little food bucket but it has a lot of extra space with bedding and he looks for bits of food that he flips of the tray all the time he sighs until he finds them

I just got my first Hedgie. He does not use his wheeel. We’ve had him over a week and he has not used it once. Is it just because he’s new and still adjusting? Also, he is always balled up when I handle him. He hisses and pops non stop. When he’s in his cage wandering around, if he sees me, he freezes and balls up, or fund into his tunnel to hide. Is that normal? I just want to make sure I’m doing right by him.

and about the catnip toy, can hedgehogs have catnip? Rubeus likes mint, which is in the same family as catnip.
Catnip toys are fine, but I personally wouldn’t let them ingest it. There hasn’t been any research into the effects it might have on them, so I just avoid it. They seem mildly intrigued by the smell though so I have used catnip toys plenty :)

I have a lot of questions about fleece liners and other things if you could please answer them. How do you make fleece liners for hedgehogs and where can you find the absorbent stuff to put underneath it? When you hedgehog uses the bathroom and it is not liter box trained should the pee just get absorbed by the liner? How do you keep the fleecce from stinking? Do you have to change the fleece lining every day/ do you have multiple fleece linings? How do I wash the fleece bedding without using a washing machine? Should I start buying the toys for my hedgehog after I get it to see what him/her likes? ........ Sorry for the load of questions I have been doing lots of online reasearch and havent really came acroos how to clean fleece beddings and stuff like that
You can either sew liners yourself (there are tutorials on CZcams), buy premade liners online (Etsy is the best place for that), or just fold fleece to the size of your cage. I personally don't use sewn liners in an effort to save money. I buy fleece from the fabric store in the size I need.
I personally use potty pads underneath my fleece, though you can use whatever absorbent layer you want, or just use multiple layers of fleece. You keep the fleece from stinking by spot cleaning everyday, and washing your fleece with a little vinegar when it is dirty. I like to have multiple pieces of fleece so that I have enough to clean the cage while the others are in the washer. Its very difficult to use fleece without having use of a washing machine. I personally would recommend using traditional bedding if you don't have access to a washing machine.
I personally would buy at least a couple toys for your hedgehog before you get them so that they have some things in their cage as soon as they come home.

I get them from Etsy, online. I know Petsmart does sell some cuddle cups and things similar but I’m not sure what all they have!

My hedgie (at her old home) had no wheel or anything. Just food and water. I’ve had her for a month and she won’t use her wheel at all. We’ve tried putting mealworms on the wheel as well as chicken (her favorites) what should I do?

Well that was a huge mistake... my female hedgehog used to use her wheel all the time but now she sometimes does and sometimes doesn't.

BellaIsSalty about a hairspray cap (we haven’t ordered a proper bowl yet, we’re planning to once we get the money.) a day, we fill it up halfway. Usually by the end of the night it’s almost gone.

Hello there! I am going to be getting a hedgehog soon and I have a 2x3 c&c cage and I am wondering if I need one or two heating lamps and how many watts would I need for one bulb?
It really depends on the ambient air in that area! I would start with one 150w bulb and test the temperatures throughout the cage for a couple days to see if you need a second!
Buy a thermostat that can work for two lamps just in case, that’ll save you some money if you do end up needing two lamps.

My first hedgie Pippa had 2 rubber ducks she loved, but she loved to play in her playpen with small cardboard boxes and she loved her dig box. Winnie my hedgie I have now, doesn't like toys, not interested in anything except her wheel. Xxx

I don't have a wheel for my hedgehog, she uses a spinner! I have a few wheels because I had a hamster (we had multiple because one was way too big, another was too loud, and then there's the wheel that my hamster used, but that was too small for a hedgehog because my hamster was a dwarf), and I got my hedgehog when she was 9 weeks old, so she was too short to reach anything at that time. We bought a spinner for my hamster and she was never into it, but it was big enough and reachable for my hedgehog so I used it. My hedgehog is almost 4 months old now, so she might be full grown already... I haven't noticed any size differences in a while. I'm still looking for a bigger spinner just in case.
One thing I'm worried about is water bottle training. Since I got her, she's just been using a bowl that I clean and refill everyday because I heard they stay better hydrated with water bowls from the easier access to it, and because... again, she was too short to reach anything when I first got her, but her knowing how to use a water bottle is very important because hedgehogs live for quite a long time, so we'll be doing all sorts of things together (like travelling) where she shouldn't use her bowl because it could spill, evaporate, or just not be enough.
Travelling is also unfortunate with my hedgehog because there are certain things I can't do, like visit my family. See, before my hedgehog, I would have friends come over to take care of house pets and plants or I could send them there, but my hedgehog still isn't fully bonded to me and I saw what happens when I'm gone for just 5 days (I was sick. My mom came to refill her water and food bowl), the progress we made was basically undone, BUT she was back to where she was after 2 weeks. She can't come with me when I visit family because they don't control their cats. Doors aren't allowed to be closed unless you're changing, showering, or using the bathroom because they don't want to restrict the cat. I can't put her in a closet either because they said it'd make my aunt sad if the cat was fixated on trying to get in. Cat lovers are crazy, cats don't care THAT much about rodents. I had rodents in open cages and none of my cats were ever interested in going in to kill it. My dog however, he was desperate. Having my rodents out is very stressful with my dog because not being able to kill them makes him feel very distressed and he paces around whining. It's obnoxious but he can't help it. His breed was specifically created to deal with rodent infestations in Europe, so I can't be too mad. He gets most upset when he sees me being casual with the prey animals, like when they're laying on my stomach or I'm petting them.
Omg i have my baby in my room and he has a squeaker plush and he has realised if he steps on it or "jumps" ill give him attention and he squeaks it all evening but not a night time idek why tho he is a attetion baby but i love him
