    Goals from Jamaal Lascelles and Chris Wood were enough to win it for Eddie Howe's men.

    My Grandad started to support Tranmere after Liverpool had the Hillsborough disaster and he felt that they didn't do enough to make up to the fans who sadly passed away. He and his side of the family are from the Wirral area (New Brighton I think but can't be sure). He is sorely missed by us as he passed away in 2016 but he will forever live on in our memories. RIP Grandad.

    Given the Toons abysmal record against lower league teams, going back decades, these games always fill us with a sense of dread, we have to be on the wish list for most lower league teams when the draw is made. We won't have been the only PL league team have struggled ask Fulham, job done Palace next at home, it will be a completely different line up in November when we play.

    Tranmere remind me a bit like Partick Thistle both clubs play in the shadows of 2 much bigger clubs nearby that will never become as big. They both have good sets of supporters. They act as an alternative to the Merseyside/Old Firm duolopy.

    Thanks for giving a fair and positive summary of the game, and putting this video up to show people a bit of what Tranmere are like as a club. I think people who know football tend to know and respect TRFC; unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant people (some in high roles with television companies and even with the EFL) who think they know it all yet don't because they just ignore the 72 league clubs, and the conference too. I watched a video the other day where a lad rated Noblot Wanderers as an elite club and had Tranmere as 'bang average' - sorry to say but that guy didn't have a scoobie-doo, the breezeblock is easily one of the worst atmospheres in the entire pyramid while Tranmere just has the 'real' magic, the tingle in the spine, the heart -- a magic something that is hard to put a finger on and describe. Supporters support.

    I started supporting Tranmere Rovers as a Liverpool fan in late 2018. First game was a friendly against Liverpool would ya believe 😅. Liverpool won 6-0😶. First league game was vs Salford which we won 2-0. Absolutely love the Prenton Park crowd, one of the best atmosphere’s in league 2. Haven’t been back for a while as I live on the other side of the Mersey. That and we’re not exactly worth paying to watch. Will be back for the start of the new season in 2024/25. Great stuff by Tranmere, broke Jamaal’s beak and stole a year of Krath’s career. I love to see lower league sides putting it up primadonnas in cup ties but there were very few shrinking violets out there for Newcastle and some of what was dished out was simply thuggery.
    Still, that part time referee encouraged it. It could have been a good audition for him but instead he condemned himself to a career of lower leagues and U21 games. I’m sure he felt like a big boy at the time but maybe in 15 years he’ll realise he was a bit naïve to play his hand how he did.

    Newcastle are NOT the richest club, they are simply the ones that have the wealthiest owners. Even with potential funds their spending is being severely restricted by FFP rules, and is unable to match that or the richer clubs.
    As some have done it is ludicrous to tie that label to the team and use that to diminish the fantastic job the management team have accomplished since the takeover. Prior to the Isak transfer I believe Newcastle's spending over the past 4 seasons was one of the lowest in the league - they are just catching up........

      We're not that dirty . That's the way most teams play in the lower leagues. It's more, shall we say, blood and thunder in league 2 than in the Premier League. Remember the players arent as quick to react so there are more badly timed tackles. There are teams far more physical than we are. We are usually on the receiving end.

    • @markjenks2027
      @markjenks2027 Před 2 lety

      Howe's first game as Bournemouth manager was against tranmere who where top of league one at the time, probably the dirtiest team I've seen with no protection fm the ref. One player was stretchered off after numerous bad tackles. Whilst I certainly don't condone it you know what the managers are going to say to rattle the stronger team

    Trouble is if Newcastle don't win a trophy, the fans will be on Howes case like wildfire. They have the numbers and create a good atmosphere, but equally turn toxic in the blink of an eye. Incredibly demanding and impatient and throw a wobbler if the team doesn't perform. Even sir Bobby Robson got booed and grief, and he got them into the champions league!! The unbelievable abuse of Allardyce sticks out, ok his approach wasnt always to taste but he tried to do his best with what he had! The players are probably scared to commit themselves in case of a mistake, so they play within themselves otherwise it's a barrow load of abuse from the fans. Great club when things are all rosy, but absolute hell if they aren't..
