The Flesh Tearers seem little like their beloved Sanguinuis primarch. However.

    • @troublemaker9899
      @troublemaker9899 Před 2 lety +9

On the contrary, the Blood Angels have always struggled with the Red Thirst, even before and during the time of their primarch. It was Sanguinius whom took the Blood Angels, formerly the "Eaters of the Dead", and made them into the most respectable chapter that they are in contemporary times. Before their primarch found them, the Blood Angels executed their missions with a ferocity that would make even the Night Lords balk, and commonly ate the armies of the defeated down to the last man.
Seth embodies Sanguinius in that he deals with the very doom of the legion on a daily basis, and it is through his leadership that the Flesh Tearers have risen above the legends of savagery which have marred their legion for centuries. Though he has made it his mission to become their very last chapter master, as he sees the legion dying off to the black rage, he is ironically their best chance at salvation. Seth, therefore, is more alike to Sanguinius than even Luis Dante could be said to be.

@@booradley6832 as i said, all the Blood Angels successors kill civilians for a number of reasons, all of them suffer the Black Rage and lose control... that's not new.
Nor is Guilliman destroying Monarchia, Dark Angels abandoning allies at critical moments, Grey Knights mass genociding people for fighting on the front lines against chaos or Ultramarines abandining the rest of the Imperium to have their own special empire.
That's the point of 40k, noones good, everyones fighting between ideals that can't exist and overwhelming enemies that can't be stopped.
The Flesh Tearers have plenty written about how they're purposefully suiciding themselves to protect civilians, that they've saved far more than they've killed by orders of magnitude since Seth took over and that they're doing a much more effective job than most average chapters.
Dante, "Guilliman tells him not to bow as they're equals and is entrusted with protecting half the imperium" Lord protector Dante trusts and regards Seth as a close friend by m42 who is doing the right thing.

Not necessarily. The Blood Angels successor chapter; Angels Vermilion actually perform a massive ritual in which they slaughter thousands of Innocents at one time in an attempt to keep the thirst at bay.
Dante hates them so much he refuses them access to Baal or any of it's moons and did not invite them protect Baal from the Tyrannids.
More likely what Rho is referring to is that normally Sons of Sanguinius fight with honor and protect the innocent. Which aside from the Salamanders no other chapter, even the sons of Guilliman prioritize evacuating civilians during campaigns so far too often civilians are killed in the skirmish. The Flesh Tearers initially didn't give a shit whether civilians got in the way and so garnered a reputation for berserkers. This has led to the theory that they are both the Sons of Sanguinius and the Sons of Angron. There's nothing to support the theory but it's easy to see why some would think that. However under chapter master Gabriel Seth the Tearers tactics are now fully Blood Angels tactics and they are no longer the reckless Berserkers they were. But sometimes a reputation doesn't recover from past mistakes.

Gulliman would know all about the 'Revenant Legion'. The old IXth Legion were more of a bio weapon than a military force. They ravaged and gorged and moved on. Barely controlled. Twelve thousand fell on Neptune and twelve thousand more were recruited to replace them from among the pathetic radiation mutated subhumans that constituted the planet's subterranean population. Not so discerning! They fight and survive where others can't. They endure. It ain't pretty..
Without Sanguinius they would have likely been purged from Imperial records. Certainly had they survived as late as the Heresy, they would not have hesitated to embrace the traitors cause. That didn't happen, entirely because of Sanguinius' influence. It's why I love the Blood Angels lore. They are angelic butchers with an insatiable appetite for slaughter. But. Just enough of the Angel resides within them.. just enough. Its a pretty good metaphor for the human condition.

@@hanfy769 Ignore the little troll. Long Sanguinius was found the Imperium often recruited Astartes from, we will say questionable sources, wouldn't want to be a heretic like little troll boy. So they would consume the dead to learn in essence how to be Astartes quicker and more efficiently. But the Blood Angels Omophagea gland that allows them to do this is unstable and overactive which led them to becoming addicted to blood in particular. And like all addicts it consumed them and they wanted more and there were accidents that led to thousands of people being butchered and gorged on. Hence why they were called the Revenants then. Also why people wrongly call them Space Vampires. They in fact behave more like drug addicts than parasites but that's not the point. Had there been any Inquisition then there probably wouldn't have been a Blood Angels Legion. Anyone that thinks the Emperor and Malcador didn't know are just fooling themselves, they did create them after all and Emperor continued to use them after the accident the troll boy speaks of, albeit under heavier controls.
However after restoring Sanguinius to his Legion he changed a lot things. Namely how they were recruited, were they were recruited from, the tactics he allowed in combat. He essentially brought discipline and stability to the Blood Angels.
Sanguinius recruited from noble and/or compassionate stock, mostly from Baal and forbid the use of the gland in battle. Additionally he thought them to express themselves through Art of all sorts: painting, sculpture, weapon/armor forging, gardening to name a few. This resulted in the nobles warriors we know today but there are still some are affected by the defective organ and thus the Red Thirst. Though in modern times the Black Rage has become more of a problem.
There isn't really more specific details of those early days so I hope this helps.

@Zoomer Waffen I think Rowboat might have inducted more than a few warbands of loyalist with traitor primarchs. Enough for multiple chapters. He knew the power of having many many "loosely" connected chapters in light of sundering the legions and adopting the codex. (The Lion also saw the wisdom in such a decision with the Unforgiven)
Also wasn't the first time he's done that apparently (The Xenocides and the Lost and his whole destroyer chapter supposedly made up of Terran Ultramarines who were really so unlike their brothers that I feel like they must have been brain wiped survivors of another legion.)
Also both the Silver Skulls and the Novamarines are both known for their codex divergent librarius with the Silver Skulls having their prognosticators and the Novamarines Librarians operating akin to Rune Priests of the Space Wolves or the Librarians of the White Scars.
I think many of the second founding ultramarine chapters are made up of mixed or traitor geneseed led by pure ultramarines at first (Corvo and his Novamarines), supported by some form of Emperor Worship though their librarius.

Love the Flesh Tearers - my second favourite Chapter after the Black Templars. I do like the mad bastards of 40k best! As for the blood of the innocents, Gabriel Seth does try to deploy his men into battle away from others - just in case any of them get carried away. They've already had the Inquisition poke their noses into their business and the Inquisitor went away devastated by the insight into their struggle. They're tragic heroes (even when they act like total dicks!).

Regardless of what they may or may not do the Inquisition didn't exterminate them so they aren't doing anything they aren't supposed to be doing. So far only the Angels Vermilion have broken Sanguinius' rules.

Especially of a son of the most humble Primarch.
A Primarch who represented the best of the Imperium and everything the Imperium stood for and wanted to be.
I think that Dante's relationship and goodwill towards Seth is simply formed of nepotism. The nepotism is made clear when you look at Dante's reaction to the Angel's vermillion, a chapter that bathes in blood to quench the red thirst and subdue the black rage, but they are much more subtle about it as they only do it once every 50 years and they honour the humans they sacrifice in their hall of martyrs.
