I find that these tomcat type traps tend to break their springs/snaps after one of two bounces after a successful catch

Kind of a controversial topic, but i absolutely hate kill traps. I feel like it's just so inhumane, because snap traps will sometimes not always insta-kill and will leave the poor thing to suffer and die slowly. While glue traps are even worse, because then it's guaranteed to give the animal a slow and painful death by starving. Other kinds of kill traps and poison aren't really the most humane either.
While there are a variety of different live traps where you can just catch them and then release them into a forest or field a couple miles away from everything. I feel like all animals no matter what they are should get a second chance, because they're honestly just trying to survive too.
This is no hate to you whatsoever though, I'm just stating my opinion on these kinds of traps.

I understand, but , also consider it is illegal in most states to release an invasive species like house mouse, Norway rat (brown rat) and Roof rat (black rat), certainly you can translocate native species, but, then the survival rate is less than 20%

I’m so nervous when I set a mouse or rat trap like the first one you showed. I tried a glue trap behind my dryer once and during the night, a mouse got stuck on it. But then, my cat, I guess hearing the mouse, got through the blockade I’d built around the dryer and also got on the glue paper. OMG, I woke up with it sounding like someone was tearing the house apart. After spending a while trying to catch the cat, I was so afraid I was going to tear his paw pads off getting the glue trap off of him. Ever since, I went back to the old fashion trap like your first one.😅

Never use glue traps as they are inhumane
But I heard detergent and warm water can free critters from it

Warm cooking oil, baby oil, or mineral oil works best. It's not a must to warm the oil, but it helps. Just make sure it's not hot

@@jfrazz9729 thank you, and trust me, I’ll never use a glue trap again. I learned my lesson! Thank You for bringing this up, and giving a solution to release humanly!
