Keep in mind when you’re testing the motors to determine battery life it would be great if they were submerged because anytime you place them in water there’s gonna be resistance, and when there’s resistance, there is going to be a drain or strain on the battery because the motors may tend to work harder And get a little hotter on the circuitry.
This is pretty neat. I need to get something like this!
A couple of notes. 1) If you put the antennas in the box, you will lower your range - it might be negligible, but it may not be. You really want the radio antenna portions to be outside and not go through any walls/obstructions. 2) You'll increase the chances of it rolling over in rough(er) waves as you shrink the size. You can mitigate this by lowering the weight as much as you can. Other comments just on design/testing - As J Ray DelaTorre says, if you are going to test the props for duration, you should test them under load. Also, the farther you put the propellers away from the centerline of the boat, the more power you have to use just to counteract the moment arm (ie, what is making it turn). If you don't need super-tight turning radiuses, you might moving the motor behind the boat, of if you are really ambitious, use a single motor and a rudder.
Good job Adam. Talk to Jacob about the little buddy which was invented by Dennis Watters.
I'm pretty sure he knows that.
@@ChurchLady777 yes he does. Jacob has recently done modifications he may not be aware of.
Adam.... That is Awesome and it all Works....! I had a TX16 Transceiver and I can't remember what the Transmitter was for my Pixhawk Controlled Drone.... but both have a Range/Distance they will Operate in.... Since I was a Drone Operator (Flying in the Air Space) as a Recreational/Hobbyist Pilot, I could only fly 400 feet Above Ground, FAA Law..! To test the distance on dry land we set the Transmitter (the item that was in the Drone, in your case, in the Kayak) with battery Power, turned on and device working, then we walked off until we lost Contact with the Transceiver/Remote Controller. We then measured (stepped off) the feet between the Transmitter and Transceiver to arrive at the distance, before the signal was lost..! That way we knew how far we could fly before we lost control..... You have to take into account that Trees, Shrubs, buildings and other obstructions will deplete the signal.... Because once the signal is lost, you got no control over the Drone...! I got no idea why the 7.5 Amp fuse blew, in your screen test with both Motors at full throttle, I only saw 1.23 Amps, but that was free air Amps, in other words, there was no LOAD on the Motors, they were not in the water and not pushing water which would definitely put a LOAD on the Motors causing an increase in Amperage draw from the Battery(s).... Don't worry about the Looks...! I know you don't $10,000.00 to buy one already made, as long it works and it does what you want it to do, it's fine..! It's like a Prototype... get it working the best you can...then worry about it's appearance later...! =)
Adam, I didn't know you were a mechanical genius!!! 😲 Great job!!!
Excellent work for your first design build Adam. Patent & protect yourself from idea thieves.
I think you did a great job. Keep up the great work Kathy from Michigan.
That was fun to watch. The better it gets the more likely you can patent it. Kudos.
Your creation needs a name. 😀
Let's give 👍
Must admit about 40% of the technical stuff went over my head but what a smart invention Adam!! Its brilliant actually. This is going to save so much time, effort and money not to mention the safety aspect when you and Nug ate out there doing the great job you do.10 out of 10!⭐💙
Someone found their inner genius?? Love this boat!!! So very cool. It's going to help you do your job even better.
Very good invention, good job. You'll save lots of time...
That is so cool! It would save you all so much time.
Your Awsome coming up with your Sonar Boat. You keep going. Your doing a Great Job Adam. Prayers are with You GOD BLESS !
I am so thankful that you are allowing us as viewers and partners to see and respect what it takes to do the job you are doing ! Keep up the good work in CHRIST JESUS MOST HOLY NAME , YOUR FRIENDS MARY AND JAMES
Good Job Adam! Taking this to a whole other level! So proud! Make sure to patent all your ideals, you will need all that going forward. Keep up all the good work!
That’ll be a great help as I know the crew at Chaos uses there’s from Dennis and it’s extremely helpful in small bodies of water
What would be awesome NOW is to encourage people to buy and use them to search for cars then alert their local police to them.
Wow Adam, you’re a genius!!!
LOOKING GREAT 👍 👀 👍
I'm really impressed! Great job!
Should call the boat Clemantine. Small and orange. Keep it up Adam!
One thing about your box is, black may get hot, especially in the summer.
The wind may have hindered your speed.
Had to be a lot cheaper to build than buying a little buddy..great job..keep up the good work.
Good work! 2 more motors on the front and waterproof it all. I stability becomes a issue think catamaran. Next time y'all.
Awesome work Adam..and great R&D... something you may want to look into is replacing that auto fuse with an auto resetting breaker..they are available at NAPA / auto parts stores..for about $5.00 ..instead of blowing the fuse,,the breaker wull pop then reset..just a thought, Keep up the great work!!
good idea!
A really fine wire mesh cage on the intake side of the motor might help keep weeds out
Yes fine wire mesh or fiberglass type screening material covering the propeller section would keep out weeds, fishing line etc. Heck even a set of women's nylon knee highs attached properly makes a great protectant filter for the props. Water allowed in...weeds kept out.
You’re doing a good job Adam!
Awesome! 😎😎😎 Looking forward to future builds! ❤️❤️❤️🙂🙂
Well done Adam ! Be great to see you use it on your searches b👍
This is fantastic. It will so helpful and save some time in those small ponds. Keep up the amazing work y'all are doing.
You're McGuyver!!!! Great job, for real!
Maybe a set of wheels, something like suitcase wheels to pull it to and in and out of the water. Great job brainstorming Adam...
Nice job! This will really cut down on time spent at the small ponds for sure.
Great, I use a RC mixer to do the steering and you can use the trim on the RC transmitter to balance the mixer channel
Float'Ing' 🇨🇦
Amazing what the power of youtube, your intelligence and passion can accomplish Adam. Proud of you. May the universe keep you safe as you continue your searches. 👍 J Ray on the idea of the mesh cage on the intake side of the props.
It depends which direction he is going as to which side of the prop is the intake. When he backs up it will be the opposite of going forward.
Awesome job on your first RC boat with Sonar!!! 👍👍👍
You did a great job.
Great Job Adam!! I think you may be onto something here. Great invention make sure to patent it Adam so no one steals your idea!!
Wow i love how you thought outside the box and made your own
So well done Adam, u r very clever.....Jeanette Ann UK.
Awesome job Adam, makes so much sense to build this!
Looking forward to seeing it in action
I haven't read all the comments, but waterproof those electronics with some kind of waterproof box! Such an awesome job.
Adam, make your little boat it's own trailer instead of carrying it.😊
Excellent job, Adam. I thought I have seen a plastic funnel-shaped cage on electric trolling motors to keep them free of weeds. Maybe something like that would work for your propellers. I look forward to seeing what you will come up with. I enjoy watching your videos, and also I enjoy the banter between you and Nug in both of y'all's videos. You have a great friendship. Good luck, stay safe and thank you for all you do to help bring home the lost and give peace to the families.
Looks like it works great
A great idea and I commend you for all you do
Good job! I call that a success!
I think you did an excellent job on the first prototype! To get the best range, the wireless receiver and any other wireless units on the boat should have the antennas coming up through the top of the tub if at all possible. It may have a great impact on range. Also having the antennas on both the transmitter and the RC receiver out on the boat in the same polarization is very important as in antenna on the transmitter pointing straight up in the air and antennas on the boat pointing straight up in the air. That will give you the biggest cross-section of signal reception. To know battery life you need to measure peak load current, then do the math against the battery capacity. That will give you the run time. 55+ years of working with electronics, and worked at Futaba RC for 6 years long ago.
This is so cool! Can't wait to see how this evolves!
That's awesome Adam!
PATENT!!! That is AWESOME Adam! This will big a big help in smaller bodies of water that depths are unknown.. Keep up the great work.
Awesome Adam, this will be a great help to you and Jeremy.God bless..😊
This is better than chaos divers little buddy because you see the scan real-time, wtg!
You're just having too much fun.😂 I love watching. Thank you and please be safe.
Very cool! 😎👍
Magical well done
Adam this is great. I don't know anything about RC. But this will be a great asset for you and Nug. Thank you for sharing all of your adventures with us. You guys are an amazing team. Stay safe in your travels wherever they lead. I will be there. Much respect and love from Delaware.
Wow that's awesome
Fabricate a small air-boat and you'll never need to worry about weeds in the propellers. Just something to think about.
Great job Adam, your
invention is amazing and so creative. I love that your inventing more ways to search , your passion to figure this build out is evident . I’m So proud of you and I’m enjoying watching your channel grow. Thank you for what you do
A couple thoughts, that little wire isn’t nearly large enough to carry 40amps, it’s important to match the wiring to the fuse as the point is for the fuse to blow before the wire burns up and potentially starts a fire. Also, you can get a trailer wiring plug and tap into the 12v+ & gnd to charge the batteries while you’re driving. If you google trailer 7-pin wiring it’ll show you which pins are 12v(blk) and gnd(why). You don’t need to wire anything to the truck, just plug in the connector and attach the two wires to the boat battery and it’ll charge off the trucks alternator through the trailer wiring plug.
That's amazing
Adam I think you did a great job at building it! ❤🌺
Good idea Adam faster we can identify the better with less Effort. I will use my power Vision drone on the surface to identify Before putting the boat in
Fantastic
That's great invention you have there, should make searching for missing people a lot easier. I'm excited to see it in action in the up coming videos. I especially can't wait to see Jeremy's reaction to it.
G’day Adam, I appreciate this is a first trial, proof of concept, one thing I would change is, making the thruster mounts more streamline, so to reduce drag, this would also prolong the battery life/ runtimes
To keep weeds from getting into the props, couldn’t you glue some screen on the front of them? Maybe it would help. Brilliantly made , great job Adam. ❤
Great job!
Hi Adam !! You are a great inventor !! What a smart idea ! Have fun ! Be safe ! cute dog ! Take care and keep on vlogging your great vlogs ! Deborah 🇨🇦
Congrats buddy, now put a small solar panel for charging.
Very clever. For your first attempt at trying to make floating sonar that you can’t get into with your big boat. I like the wireless screen so you can see it in real time. 👍🏻
You should be able to adjust thrusters with trim to balance. Sweet and simple design. Fantastic job. Eagerly looking forward to your improvements and seeing your baby on the job. Congrats.
Good invention Adam❤
Adam, I think you have some great ideas for your R/C boat including the camera and monitor. That was something that came to mind when I saw Chaos Divers boat “Little Buddy.” I noticed on that boat that the propellers look protected by the hull which may be a good idea to consider for a future build. If I were to use the plastic boat you have, I would probably cut holes in the top of it, to build compartments for your batteries, sonar and other electronic components. It would keep the center of gravity lower. I would also enclose it so it’s all waterproof in case the boat were to ever flip over. Another thing I was thinking is that you may want to put a hand loop on the front of your boat so you can use an extendable boat hook to retrieve it out of the water more easily. I know that you were mentioning using aluminum for your next boat, which may be just fine, but you may want to consider looking for a fiberglass or carbon fiber expert in your area. When I was a kid, there was a local canoe manufacturer who helped me with the body on my Soap Box Derby car. It was a great experience. You may have people in your area into R/C planes and or cars and boats or into the real things who could really help you out.
Another thing to consider with the underwater little motor fishing line may possibly get wrapped up around its little shaft between the impeller and the motor
Great job.✌❤
Adam this is looking great .
Can you hook up the transducer signal to be wireless and have your screen on shore?
Maybe try Bluetooth?
Wireless security cameras?
200 feet of transducer cable , ok I get wanting to be wireless.
Add a solar charger panel?
RC boat servo for steering a rudder .
If you think of what you want I am a welder (30+ years) I could probably make it.
The boards with the motors turn them so they are narrow for less water resistance.
Less drag , less amps needed to push along.
I'm glad you take the initiative to find something to make it easier to do more.
Keep up the great content.
I believe on some models you can link 2 sounders with a network cable, so you could use a wireless network transmitter and receiver to send it to another sounder on the shore. I think that allows you to control the boats sounder from the shore sounder. not 100% on that as my sounder is way cheaper and doesn't have any other outputs.
Definitely want to do your bench tests on the motors with them submerged in a tub of water to get real world resistance. Check to make sure your wiring can handle 40 amps of current. You want your fuse to fail before your wiring melts. I suspect the motors may be too small for the weight of the boat and the equipment and may cause them to wear out prematurely. Maybe weigh the entire setup and start keeping an eye out for replacements that are more suited to the weight of the rig. There are thrusters similar to this built for Kayaks that might be better. Overall, I'd say well done. Love the solution for getting the sonar image to a remote display. The Little Buddy that Chaos Divers inherited from Team Waters is a pretty nice setup, but without the remote viewing option. They have to review the scans after the fact so they can't react to a target and make a second pass if needed. Pretty good for a first generation build.
that's cool and always enjoy watching :)
4 - 5 gallon buckets strapped to 2 - 2x4's with 1x4 slats would make a very light, mini-pontoon. You could mount the sonar in the center with a truck box mounted across. You could attach your thrusters directly to the buckets with pvc pipe and a little glue. It would easily support a full size marine battery and be very hard to capsize if you make it wide enough. You could make it collapsible with sliders on the cross slats.
This will be much better than one where you have to bring it back to shore and plug it into a computer to see the underwater images. Very ingenious idea that should be very helpful. Brilliant. Now you need a patent so you can start manufacturing and selling. Kaching!
That is cool, it will come in handy, awesome job. Jeremy will have fun with it too. Keep up the great job you guys do
I’m not techie at all.. but this is amazing.. can’t wait to see some more testing it out..
I say anything that helps you go for it you guys are awesome
I think it looks awesome.
Very Cool. Thank you for sharing.
See about adding a solar panel to the top of the lid to help with battery life. Also maybe a wheel underneath to help transport. Good job so far.
great job> I love your willingness to try different things and trying to be economical. If I heard you correctly you went from a 7.5 fuse to a 40 amp. I recommend you talk to an electrician about that. A 40 may allow your equipment to burn up before it blows. And a piece of ' off the self " weather stripping under the lid may help keep your equipment and connections dry.
very interesting
Most things all said, but that is actually a cool design. And as a kayaker i already know the performance you are going to get from that youth kayak. Which you will find out that they are very durable. Good luck with it.
Awesome
Hey Adam that's a really nice bit of kit you have produced there really enjoyed that I've rc stuff too awesome thanks for sharing 👍
I like what you are doing
Sweet build!! Your clever mind will make this work. Great idea.
Very cool Adam!!! That's great!
If you make it in aluminum you could weld wheels to the back of it so you can roll it instead of carrying?
Nice build and it is going to be very useful , working in gator-filled waters is one occasion that it will be a real asset.
