  • Seneca Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes, is host to the Catharine Valley Trail. The 13 mile trail winds through the Village of Montour Falls with its downtown waterfall as well as through a shaded biking experience. High points are a side-trip to Eagle Cliff Falls, one of the few waterfalls in the state that flows between two vertical walls of rock, straight into a pool below; Watkins Glen State Park, with a gorge path that winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade; and Watkins Glen International, a race track that was famous for Grand Prix and Formula I races for years and on which you can take a test lap. This adventure took place on August 9, 2020.

    Very helpful and looks beautiful. We are thinking of going there to do some rail trail cycling and hiking this fall.

      I hope you get a chance to get to the Finger Lakes. It’s a beautiful area. There is another trail nearby you may want to check out - the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail. There is also the Black Diamond trail at the end of Cayuga Lake (Ithaca). There are a lot of really beautiful waterfalls in that area. Thanks for watching.

      Thank you for watching! Trip Advisor sites Watkins Glen as one of the 10 natural wonders of the US. It is a beautiful place!

    Very cool. I’ve actually been to all of those places and didn’t even know there was a bike trail connecting them!

      Hi. Thanks for watching. Glad to hear we can provide some calm among all the craziness these days. We get a lot of enjoyment in getting away from it all.

    That pic is a tease. It is not part of the Catherine bicycle or any other bicycle. It is the 'gulch trail' in WGSP.

    That's a great park...Watkins Glen. We went on a wine tour. Next time we need to bring bikes.

      Hi Eileen, Watkins Glen is definitely a place to check out -- with or without your bike. Thanks for watching.

    Love your videos. Please keep them coming.
    Do you have a video on what type and how you picked your electric bike models? I’d like to hear how you like them now that you’ve traveled some miles. Pro’s and con’s. How do you transport them on or in your vehicle? Range? Comfort? Accessories. Etc.

      Hi Mary, Thanks for your words of encouragement! I have a video on our channel on things to think about when picking an ebike: czcams.com/video/5dFkqoccbQY/video.html. As I understand it, our bikes are no longer in production.... We were lucky to have the opportunity (for a fee) to take a bike out for the day. It was worth the money as an ebike is a big purchase. In the end, we rode additional bikes around their parking lot. Comfort was important to us -- so front shocks are a must. We replaced the original seat. We had to get a carrier made for ebikes that attaches through a trailer hitch. If we had to do it all over again, we would look for comfort and battery range as our primary focal points.

    Does the Watkins glen state park have bike parking available?

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  Před 2 lety

      I can't recall seeing bike parking, but I'm sure there would be some there. A tree or fence always works for us as well. Thanks for watching.
