Man you got a smoking good deal. I picked up my Marauder 1600 (rebadged Mean Streak) in April for $2500 and I'm in love with the bike. I've done a few maintenance things and mods, but the next one will be installing a Harley style batwing and apes.

I found a great little upgrade for my 06, and think you'll really appreciate it if you tried it. The foot pegs from a Vulcan 750 (I had one at one time, and appreciated them then) will fit right on your bike like they were made for it, and they have a rest that extends from the backside of the pegs to put your heels on, like a quick and simple floorboard, to prevent fatigue on the long rides. Good luck.

That is a great bike! I own a 2008 MeanStreak SE that i bought in 2010 for $5k. Other than general maintenance, i have never had to fix/repair/replace anything on it. I would recommend getting rid of the ape hangers and go back to the short bars. much better riding experience as your riding positions is halfway between cruiser and sportbike. Good luck, im sure you will enjoy it!
FYI, the intake and bars on that one is not stock. I also noticed it is missing its blinkers. i can send you pics of mine if you want to see what a (mostly) stock one looks like.

I been building a classic 1500 into a "custom". Be sure to clean the lower oil screen. especially if the clutch disintegrates. If debris gets into the upper end, the lifter screens clog up starving hydraulic lifters and cams of oil. Ive done a full tear down and rebuild on mine. Bad crank bearings

Make sure the cam chain extenders are done on that. With that amount of miles on that motor. It's gotta be due. If it has not already been done. The cam chains will get loose and wear a hole in your plastic spark plug tubes and you will have a mess on your hands. If it has not been done do it now before it becomes a bigger issue. It's a cheap fix and super easy.

I brought a red MS-1500 in 2003, brand new. By 2005, the motor blew out. I only had around 700 miles on it when it stopped. Good luck with the 1600. BTW, I love your contents.

I LOVE the bike you chose, and again I am old enough to hang with your pops, and you and I have the EXACT same taste in bikes, so you are a wise man. I like that there was ANOTHER bike at the gas station, Iven. Another 2 wheel family ...I love that you keep your kies in the KITCHEN. You have THE coolest wife to allow that.

@@2wheelfamily493 Hi Iven, Princess, and Cali, so I traded in my 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 (AWESOME bike) for a 2011 Yamaha Stryker at the dealership. I LOVE this bike so much. The Stryker is hands down the EASIEST bike to ride, ever. My 2004 Vulcan Classic 1500 is in the shop, and soon I will have two of the best bikes ever made ! I hope to find a V-Max someday, but no hurry !!!

Bought a meanstrek myself back in Sept, havent got to ride it much yet since the weather isnt cooperating lol. Absolutely love it though! Ive wanted one for years and now that ive got it im thinking im gonna get rid of the rattle can paint job thats on it lol and give it a makeover. Any idea where to get aftermarket fenders lol id like to have a steel front.
