Nice! How do you make that template? I purchased similar hinges and I need route out for them now and I am totally lost on how to do this.

I actually made it on my CNC 😅. But they do sell templates you can buy.

@@DesignCraftWorkshop Awesome thank you for the reply. I made something by hand last night that will get the job done, I just dont know what router bit to use that wont cut the template. I am using 1/4 in mdf for the template.

I like your stuff. To do the hidden door that you added the vertical siding did you have to offset the hinge? What was your door thickness for the hinges? 1 3/4"? Any tricks for this this type of hidden door?

Thank you! The thickness of my door is 1-1/2” which left about 1/8” of sidewall where the hinges were located on the door. But if you're going to add slats I think the biggest would be coordinating the gaps between each piece.

Can these hinges be fit into a standard 3/4” jamb with the trimmer stud behind the jamb mortised? Or should they be installed in a 1.5” jamb?

    • @DesignCraftWorkshop

They make one for 3/4” if you're installing for something like a cabinet

@@DesignCraftWorkshop thanks for the response. I am thinking of using these in a remodel. Current door openings are for a 32”x80” slab with 3/4” jamb. I can use thicker jamb like 1.5” with 30” door. But if I can use 3/4” jamb and the back of this hinge can sit between the shims and the trimmer stud, then I can use 32” doors.

@@lapseofeternity Oh i get what you're saying. Yea usually the jamb on these need to be thicker so that the shoulder of the hardware has a place to sit in.

@@DesignCraftWorkshop thanks for confirmation. I did see some aluminum doors with similar hinges where jamb was even thinner than 3/4”. it just sticks out of the back and sits in the empty space where usually shims go. Thats why I was thinking of mortising the trimmer stud.

@@lapseofeternity yes as long as the shoulders sit in the frame, the rest of the body can sit behind the jamb in the wall cavity. No problem there either.
