My set up is a Chinese mower on a Massey 1742. Personally I wouldn't want to trust a Quick Hitch as they don't have positive attachment. Lots of stress on the pins when it's extended.
How many hammers are on your 1600 series flail mower? The website says there are 50 hammers or a 100 Y blades, but based off what I see I wonder if they have the information incorrect...as when your mower was tilted up, it looked like there were only about 25 hammers...so I am wondering if the 50 is supposed to be the number count for the Y-blade option.
What is the max height of cut when cutting vertically? Looking at using a similar setup with a Massey 1740M and was wondering if it will cut to at least the top of the cab. Thanks.
Thank you for the info. Im also trying to understand why none of the manufacturers allow a quick hitch with these ditch bank mowers. Would make hooking up a lot easier if it becomes a weekly chore. Nice place you have there. Thanks for the vid.
Zack Harmon I have not heard or read that about a quick attach. Could be because on the Peruzzo it has a lower linkage on right hand side with a swivel type linkage hooked on. Maybe someone else will comment on it. I know Joe from Iowa farm equipment watched my last one and gave me some pointers on using. That’s where I purchased from. I just bought a quick attach hitch but have not tried hooking up to flail. Thanks for the comment on the vid. We are having fun turning this property into something special.
@@zakatak7058 A Quick Hitch has a smaller inside hitch frame clearance compared to the Hitch Frame on the Elk Cross 1600, when offset to the RH side we need all the clearance for the PTO shaft. With a Quick Hitch installed the PTO Shaft makes contact with the Quick Hitch Frame. Would be nice if it was compatible!
IFE thanks for this very helpful info. Is it still possible to use a quick hitch and not offset the mower to its maximum to prevent the PTO shaft from rubbing? Does the quick hitch even hook up to the mowers frame?
You and I, are of similar age. I too, haven’t owned a tractor for 35-yrs. Thanks for sharing

Yeah, you cannot use one on the offset flail because how the mounting is built on the flail! It’s not that hard to hook up anyways.
Thanks for the video & review!
IFE I plan on doing one more, showing the mower itself and going over a few details of the different adjustments etc.

There are 20 on the 1600. Good observation when I had it titled up!

Zack Harmon if you raise the 3 pt up it should. 60 “ cut for width. 1740 can handle it easy.
