    I'm one of the many people who recommended KAP industries for your extinguisher mounts when you asked for recommendations. I have them on both the front seats (ie. driver and passenger side). That way, they can be easily accessed from either side. Plus I have a 3rd extinguisher mounted on the rear cargo barrier (to be accessed from the 2nd row seats - just in case), and a fire blanket attached to the end of my fridge/freezer that's mounted at the rear cargo area. This spot also makes it within grabbing distance when cooking on my gas stove. You can never be too careful when dealing with fire. Great work on installing the head unit. I'm loving it. I'll seriously look into it for my 80 Series LC. Thanks for the discount link. 👍

    Patrols coming along nicely!! In regards to having the fire extinguisher mounted in the front foot wells. Personally I will never recommend it. Have seen several vehicles that have rolled and the flimsy bit that actually hold the extinguisher comes undone or breaks. Have one vehicle where the extinguisher ended up on the dash in front of the driver and other where it went clean through the windscreen. 3/5 times it came out of the bracket in the accident. Just food for thought.

    Great video! We recently had a new kenwood headunit installed in our May 2020 SR5 to replace the Toyota non-carplay stock garbage. It was a revelation! The only trouble is we might have some parasitic draw (still waiting on Toyota to confirm it is not something else) as we are seeing unexplained voltage drop overnight.

    Nice going. Love the new gear in your GU. Not sure what UHF you have, but if you decide to get the GME UHF (ie. XRS / TX3 range etc), remember the base unit does not have a facia (and are small), with the mic containing all the buttons and screen etc. Thus not required to have an exposed din setup. All you need is a mic plug.

  • @4WheelingInNSW
    @4WheelingInNSW Před 2 lety

    Sweet mate, can’t beat a good head unit and some nice tunes ... just regarding the earthing of the handbrake wire, that is a legal requirement you have to do so the head unit can’t play videos or movies while the car is in motion ... so you shouldn’t ‘override’ it otherwise if a cop spots videos playing while you’re driving, even if it’s your passenger who is the ‘only one watching’, you’ll cop a fine mate...not worth the headache. All your other functions like apple play, mapping etc should still work, just not the video playing function. Good clip mate, keep up the good work 🇦🇺👍

    The speakers would be rated to something like 50w but peak power is 320w probably if you wiring into an external amp, not sure why they advertise it like that though

  • @-Awareness
    @-Awareness Před 2 lety +1

    Should have pre wired the reverse camera anyway. That way you dont have to pull out the head unit again… P.S. your head unit is likely to only output 50w per channel, so the more watts is only necessary if you are wanting to amplify them…

    Nice vid tylz 👌👍 roof consoles are pretty sweet. I scored a gumtree model for $100 which worked out well. Took some creative installing tho 😜 I also have a fire extinguisher in passenger side just like yours, tho I didn't use a bracket but just screwed the bracket that came with the extinguisher straight to the floor piece that runs between the 2 front seat bolts

    When you work out how to use the Oziexplorer Hema maps, have a chat to Polaris/Hema and do a video on how to use it properly - struggle constantly.
    Other issue I have with Polaris Maxx is roughly every 18mths??, the nav just stops working for no reason. I'm lucky and close to warehouse, so just drive down and they sort it out.
    Polaris Maxx don't really have a vid on how to use, or maybe I'm missing something. Gets quiet complicated

    What's the speaker quality like? I've just installed one and the interference is hideous. When I touch the screen the speakers hiss. Where did you attach the earth? I have tried multiple places but doesn't help. I'm running an external amp with RCA leads, the old Pioneer head unit worked great, this new Polaris is about to get smashed with a hammer!

    Loving the build Tyler! The extinguisher you have now is a dry chemical powder which is a good common all rounder but if you’re going to get another I would recommend a CO2 extinguisher (black band). They’re better for electrical fires without making a mess and letting one off into the intake of a diesel vehicle is pretty much the only to stop it if it’s started “running away”. You’ll almost always be with a diesel vehicle and it’s rare but can happen especially with most getting pretty old now
