Hondo, I've said this before, but I'm going to say again. I truly believe Roger Goodell is going bring the NFL DOWN. The greed is getting out of hand. A lot of fans, like myself can't afford to pay for all these streaming games. It's got to stop.
This is something he and the NFL need to be checked on, nearly every single day. If they get too far out there, there will be a backlash of some size, at some point. Well said.
At that point with the QB frenzy even if the chargers took Brock Bowers we were in a win win then taking Joe Alt. Either way I'm 💯 completely thrilled with the way it went. Also humbled by how much they know compared to what I thought I knew.
Hondo, I hear you and all your guest. I’m a less is more person. Smaller rosters creates more money for the players, better talent on the field for the fans. If there’s an expansion, make it on the practice squad.
Some kind of accommodation so we don't see a good team KO'd because they're QB 6 or stuck preparing for a Super Bowl (See KC's loss) with a OL off the street. Or the Fins last playoffs, etc. It could get a bit tricky in game to go ask a guy to suit up though, thus I'm with the "3-deep" crowd when it comes to gameday roster size
Regarding the Pitts and Bowers comparison, TE along with FB might be one of the positions with highest variance of roles from team to team. Pitts role in ATL is more of a big athletic target that creates mismatches. Bowers is also a mismatch nightmare but it is because he has short area explosiveness and the ability to get open in tight coverage. They are incomparable.
I didn't know he was on the Moobase episode until he appeared and I was like "that guy's on the Cheifs." This was years before he started dating a household name, and became a household name. It appears to me he's taking some acting classes and wants to do a lot more.
Love the show Hondo. But Johnny Guitars is a total lawyer on here. How do you say something without saying nothing. Never any specifics. Tom Walsh was awesome by the way! How about Mark Davis converting a warehouse for Mike Tyson to train?
I have a serious deference and respect for folks in the game. I'm also not one bit afraid to call it like I see it. Sometimes it's blunt, sometimes its a bit hidden like the "look out for Bowers to be possibly there, forcing a critical Raiders decision." But I hear you. I don't mind being wrong, but I do only try to step on it if it's a topic of point I feel really informed on. Ex. expanding the gameday rosters to a number between 65 and 70
Really need pre-season games to fill the roster!! Why are we talking about getting not having pre-season!!!??? This SHOULD NOT be a thing!!!! Injuries will go through the roof!
It's all relative. That player is not too well known outside of Toronto, or wasn't before he was banned for life from the NBA. It's all relative. 2 million a year to 99% of us, is a chunk!
27:00 bad drafters or just allot of hidden agendas? Some of the players being drafted before others seemed like it has more to do with pumping the relevant schools numbers …
You do wonder sometimes, especially when owners get involved. "Hey, I know you guys are doing your work but I sure hope there's a lot of players from X and Y out there, I know they're good...," said an owner that saw 26 min of game action of that team last year, beyond highlights. You do wonder how much that happens now that owners can see them all. Not that long ago, a lot of college games weren't even on TV, then you had a real chance to make some hay scouting well, finding hidden playmakers
@@SpartanPridePod having guys drafted helps recruiting, so when your collage training facility costs 600mil because it’s a operating like a multinational corp than rigging the requirements to make it function becomes 2nd nature
Hondo, love your show, but please don't ever talk about Travis. Kelsey and the chiefs, no one in raiders nation cares anything about Them, please stop discussing stuff that doesn't pertain to the raiders
The player has to fit too which is part of bad drafting. The Raiders are arguably the worst drafting team in recent memory. By that I mean their top 3 picks have generally not worked out or have been complete busts. Three out of the last four, is it? They're no longer in football. If off the field matters, because it used to not with the Raiders, then how much laughing went on when the Raiders selected Russell number one? I'm no football scout but could clearly see something was wrong. He not only had a slow lumbering sort of body but he sounded like Elvis in the mid 70's. Surely Al could have hired a PI and found out he had a habit, or did he and turned a blind eye? I guess Waller wouldn't be a dude because of off the field stuff but he's the last Raiders' TE that jumps off the page. Gonzalez is a good example. I used to hate that dude. All he did before Kelsey was beat the Raiders. The Raiders were always building rosters with cake toppers. They had no one who could stop him. As far as the Raiders, who were their dog dudes at TE? Todd Christianson was not, he became a great TE. Is Dave Casper the dog? The Steelers sure killed it in '74. Seven HOF'ers, 5 Steelers. Casper became the Raiders contribution, picked right before Jack Lambert. I know puppy picking doesn't mean you pick one position but the Raiders now must build their team around this guy. Is Davante Adams a dude? Was he? Bowers is jumping out on tape just stretching.
14:30 so much blow harding .. Bowers was always in contention to fall as with any TE in recent memory; it’s a tricky position to draft .. what was clear was Hondo and the SI team purposely sand bagged discussions around TE and Centre .. and the raiders drafted these positions in the first and second… I suspected this and made comments drawing attention to Bowers and JPJ and it seemed like the show made a point of minimizing the conversation .. to much hidden agenda and self congratulating on this show but eh .. still more tolerable than most content creators 😅
Bowers was by wide measure the X-Factor of the Draft. He's got a supreme upside. All must be proven on the field, of course, but the TE position has become such a swing position for recent Super Bowl winners, it's getting outstanding attention these days. Bowers must know what he's stepping into, it will be interesting to watch from day 1.
@@SpartanPridePod as always, I appreciate the exchange of ideas. In ‘PFN simulations’ w/ 16 ppl live.. I routinely took Bowers at 13 if not trading back and still getting him. It was not a surprising selection was my point nor was JPJ .. my original comment was expressing my concern that Hondo had steered the narrative away from these players.. going so far as to tell guests during their mock’s that Bowers is not an option for the segment … again, I am well aware of JPJ and Bowers, I just find it disappointing the narrative is that nobody knew when it’s more like media guys like Hondo are up to their old tricks
@@SpartanPridePod realistically Jim was always going w/ Alt and made it known the price to trade would be above fair market value. The only other team that was a serious match was the Jets if Aaron made a power move.. but they did well enough in FA with traditional weapons. As you said he’s not a typical weapon, rather an X-factor .. so teams would need to have everyone on board with going through the responsibility of not busting BOWERS which would obviously be a black eye on the management. JPJ doesn’t have traits that would justify a first round selection over the length and athleticism that ultimately was the way.. however I believe he’s a great counter to all those guys so just as well 😄 I am thrilled with selections, Tommy was also a guy along with Tre that I liked more than most with the raiders
@@pigspigs76 It's always fascinating, but this Bowers pick specifically, might end up to be a big "swing pick" of the NFL Drafts during the 20s, at least early 20s. It doesn't feel like the Radiers risked a lot, but the outcomes ahead have a rather wide variety of possibles. Good things

1st like. Hi guys
One thing I remember about Telesco with the Chargers, he always had these blue chip guys fall to him in the 1st and he would always pull the trigger.
Hondo should see if Johnny will grace us with an acoustic Autumn Wind!!!

Especially if Pitts is just a WR from here.
