Also, I don't know if going all in on the anti-fetches is even a good idea. Titty Tidebinder seemed better as an anti-grief/cascade/whatever counter, rather than hitting fetches. Maybe it's just better to play a midrangey card instead, or be boring and play the one ring? Maybe be blue/red with blood moon?

Iâm thinking of more cards that force your opponent to search their library (i.e path the exile, field of ruin, etc) alongside another search hate card like Aven Mindcensor. Get rid of the red cards and use white for removal and permission-based tactics.

in round 1, you played against a friend of mine with his new brew: mono U belcher!
he's 5-0d multiple leagues with it and brought it to this past RCQ locally. It's a pretty cool deck, happy to see it on the channel (technically)
This deck feels like a massive silver bullet against certain portions of the meta and gets completely exposed to anything else that can dodge the resource trade war.
Modern needs Stifle. 1 mana makes such a difference. Who knew a cantripping Sinkhole wouldn't be enough in 2024 on account of aggressive 1 drops and "free" elementals.

With Fury at last in that great gloryhole in the sky, has anyone thought about reviving fish with tidebinder?
Of course tidebinder itself counters vial, but at least the vial activation is free. Mistcaller can half-spank scam and living end, Vodalian Hexcatcher still seems solid, Trickster can tickle Urza tokens to death and (if they don't grief it) can blank the scam reanimation effects. There are also a lot of merfolk wizards, so U/R to grab flame doesn't seem like a bad deal.

Funny story about the first round opponent: I know the guy, real cool, but he's been piloting that mono U Belcher for a few months, and has gotten a few 5-0 dumps with it now. This was a tweaked version that wasn't as optimal as his other builds, so it was kind of bad, but it's actually a solid deck when he can get it going.

I love shadow of a doubt but think it needs thoughtsieze so you can see their hand. Yahenni's Expertise is a good sideboard card.

Is stifle too conditional or slow, or the wrong format? I feel like it would be perfect in this deck?

Have you considered Tale's End instead of Shadow of Doubt? It doesn't cantrip, but it hits a wider range of targets.

During the 4th round when the opponent split up the value between ransom I was thinking if it was me, I'd show both highest value and hide the 2 lowest value just to mess with the opponent and I jumped out of my chair when the last opponent dealt 2 lands in the ransom and daddy fell for it

I really like the idea of this deck. I would like to try a version without "Shadow of Doubt". I also feel like the current version has too little card advantage? I normally play an izzet wizards deck with Tidebinder, Snap, Arcanist and Murktide and it's like a silver bullet. It's super good against people who do not have a ton of removal/are super agressive/have permanent graveyard hate, but it sucks against those who do. This grixis version felt more "medium" across the border, meaning that it does not seem as powerful but it also does not seem to have great weaknesses. I would love to hit a sweet spot that lands me somewhere between this grixis deck and my current izzet wizards deck.

If WotC ever reprints Stifle I am going to become a Blue Player in Modern. The deck will be called "No" and will have a counterspell for everything
I love how power creep has gotten to the point where even u r like âok, today we r gonna break the mega n take out the top decks with their top cards by playing this nearly garbage card; now letâs take all our own copies of the top cards n cram them in a deck with this garbage n call it a new archetype instead of just being a stack of cardboard cashâ the best cards r in every deck cuz they r too optimal n thus outcompete everything else. The game used to have a lot of niche cards where 3 or more cards do the same thing but ever so slightly different so that if u were built toward that strategy then u got extra benefits but if u werenât then it was much worse than the default. Now the defaults r so optimized that u canât find niche versions of stuff anymore n all the decks look the same. Like I still love ur personality but I donât get the same joy watching ur videos cuz thereâs almost no room for ur to develop new strategies, instead it is trying to do the same things but with cheaper cards so u can encourage more variety in the format but when we see those decks get wrecked it actually narrows our options cuz it just proves once again that nothing is playable unless it is broken n costs 30+$ per copy
