    I have watched every video you have published. Your “teacher skills” show on every video. You make everything interesting, and are a wealth of information. I would watch your videos even if they were not edited. Your love of the subject matter is very evident and I appreciate all the time you do invest in the finished product. Have a happy and fruitful 2022.

    Your videos are never boring. I did not know how much work goes into a video. Your videos are 1 of my favorites on UTUBE. I have learned so many things watching your them. Thank You. You make a video when you can I will watch the video when it comes out. Family before UTUBE I understand and I believe that all of your subscribers understand this too. I have always written in notebooks of what I like and the things I have made, but
    I will be using your pages in my DIY Journals from now on. LOVE your charts.

      Awww... what a lovely compliment, Debbie (and you have me blushing!) Lots of people tell me that about my voice so maybe they watch my channel for ASMR instead of content! Ha! But seriously, thank you so much for the kind words. I HAVE been watching you, btw, and I really like the blonde! You seem to be distracted as I've been here lately as your video publishing slowed down a bit, too! I have a commenting issue because I watch CZcams when I can which could be while cooking, in the bathtub or in bed at night all which makes commenting a challenge. I need to be more cognizant of that and I know how much I love my comment section.

    I look forward to your videos with great anticipation. From your videos it’s obvious that you put a lot of time, thought and work into each one. I only watch your videos when I can sit down and give them my full attention. I don’t want to miss any of it. Your videos are all meat and no fat.

      What a wonderful compliment, Eloise! Thank you for those kind words! "all meat and no fat" was exactly what I am always trying to achieve! Of course, I struggle with the "seasoning" which would be how much of my goofy personality to allow in but there's only so much I can do about that! Ha! Basically, I feel honored that viewers would choose to spend time with me, therefore my goal is to provide as much value for the time allotted!

    My first career was in broadcasting and advertising 1971 - 2001. I really appreciate your demonstration of digital editing, as many of those years were in an analog format. I was the director and supported by a producer, a video engineer, an audio engineer, camera operator, and a copywriter. You are doing your videos entirely by yourself. 🤯 I am amazed you are able to generate as much quality content as you do, all by yourself. You produce quality, watchable material. Thank you for your dedication. 💕👍😁

    • @sheepishlysharing
      @sheepishlysharing  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh my, Paula! That is high praise coming from someone with your background! But I'm well aware that advancing technology has made this possible and I'm certainly not putting out the quality work you did! But I do love the concept of CZcams where ordinary people can share their voices. There was always such a small amount of crafting TV content years ago and what WAS there was often boring! Now there's quantity and quality and the algorithm helps it out for you! Pretty amazing, huh?

    I was so glad to see one of your videos the other day (this is the second one I've watched this week) and I must say I am impressed with not only how much you think about your production habits and values but also how you are presenting your process. It's really helpful. I used to do videos on a number of things, but over the last couple of years I haven't been doing that, and it is not only fun to see what you're up to, but a real inspiration in terms of the care you take with your videos.

      I think it's the teacher in me, Nan! I can have lots of info in my head but if I can't get it out in a way that holds the viewers interest, then my efforts are ineffective. There's an old adage in education: You can't teach them if you can't reach them." And, of course, that's a very generalized statement because everyone's learning style and or personality type won't resonate with mine so all I can do is try my best! (I didn't realize you were once a CZcamsr at one time! It's nice that you can relate to a lot of this stuff from that point of view! Thank you!)

  • @katrinascreationscrafting

    Thank you, Margaret. It is always interesting to see how other people edit their work and to get tips.

      The ART of editing is what's so hard to develop, isn't it? Anyone can learn the software but being aware of what to cut out, whether jump cuts or fades are appropriate, when to speed up a slow down section to keep the flow moving... all that seems to come easier to some people! My daughter is really good at it and she's been doing videos for a much shorter time than I have! It CAN be learned though so I keep plugging. Maggie is also brilliant so she can pick up details and process them far faster than her mom. She's a CPA and only does CZcams as a creative outlet; spends far less time on a video than I do because her brain is properly connected to her mouth and can edit while carrying on a conversation! I know she's my daughter but I'm so incredibly impressed and amazed!

    Oh my gosh! I never knew so much went into producing and editing your videos!!! 🤯 Thank you so much for taking the time to make sure each video you release is top notch! You are right, adding in photos really helps to emphasize your points!! And I love the little details you choose such as your sound effects!! You are by far one of my favorite CZcamsrs and I really enjoy every video you make. Thank you for all that you do!! ❤️

      What a lovely compliment! Thank you, Megan! Those sound effects are there because I assume most of my audience is knitting or crocheting while watching. If I have a sound effect it clues you in to look up at something relevant. Glad to know it works!

    My hubby can attest to how hard editing is and how long it can take! He edits a podcast he does and he takes the time to edit out all the pauses, ums, ers, dead air too. It can be grueling and it has to be done after a long work day. He loves his podcast and is dedicated, but I'm sure you both agree you could just chuck it sometimes!

    • @sheepishlysharing
      @sheepishlysharing  Před 2 lety

      Actually, no... I LIKE the editing very much! Ha! Remember I was a computer person long before a crafting person! What's his podcast about?

      @@sheepishlysharing He is co-host of a podcast with a nationally known author of the paranormal genre. She lives nearby to us, actually. It's called The Paranormalist Podcast (all one word). I critique their vids to help him become a better editor and to not be quite such a stoic co-host (Pat Sajak he is not!). He is a computer guru as well and has been happy to learn a new skill set.

    Loved this video! The explanation about the editing process is very interesting and gave me a greater understanding of how much of a time commitment a video is for you. Thank you so much for sharing. All the best to you and your family. 🧶❤️🤗

      Thank you, Jennifer! And I'm so glad you understand that this level of planning/editing is what I feel is necessary to convey my thoughts. Some people more successful than I can get away with less but now that you see how it works, you'll be able to recognize the difference which is interesting in itself!

    Hi Friend,, Just letting you know I appreciate your vlogs. So I watched some this morning and then decided I better get cleaning. Well, I can confirm yarn 🧶 that gets grabbed by the vacuum, can and does unwind very rapidly into the machine 🤪 Thankfully it was extra yarn not committed to a project. Not dear to my heart ❤️ It’s making me laugh. Happy Day!

    Good Morning, I love your videos. In your tutorials, you explain it so well that it is so easy to follow. BTW, please show your bookcase with doors in detail. Where did you get it? It's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work. Enjoy your week. 😁

      Thank you, Jo! We bought that bookcase years ago... I think it was Haverty's. I showed it better right after we first moved into this house and I was in the process of setting up my craft room! Here it is: czcams.com/video/UFdZUInmLPQ/video.html

      Thank you, M! It doesn't take so long for everybody and it certainly depends on the video but it sounds like your son does edit-heavy videos so you're no stranger to the process!

    As others have said, thank you for the information and what you do. I guess you have to love it or you wouldn't last long in "CZcams land".

    • @sheepishlysharing
      @sheepishlysharing  Před 2 lety +1

      Hmmm.... I like this very interesting observation, Martha! Since CZcams isn't like network TV, you don't get canceled (unless you break the rules) so whether or not you last on CZcams is totally up to you and what you want out of it! For example, I'm very happy with my viewership though some may consider it small and not worth the time. Others have far less than I and continue putting up content for years! But isn't that the beauty of CZcams? We can all find some level of connection that brings us happiness!

    What a pleasant surprise, Margaret😁! The orange tweed hat reminded me that I should make an orange hat for my new dentist who likes nature hikes even in hunting season. Any thoughts on which easy-to-care-for yarn would keep him the safest? Thanks so much!😊

      Oh, goodness... I don't have a clue about acceptable colors for "safety orange" but when in doubt: Google! I found this blog which has a section called "Where to buy safety orange yarn" or something like that: newenglandsnarrowroad.com/2021/01/10/knitting-hats-in-hunter-orange-yarn/

    I’ve been loving your videos for years! My question for today is, do you ever wash your yarn before you use it? If you do, is it still in the skein or on a knitty knotty?

    • @sheepishlysharing
      @sheepishlysharing  Před 2 lety

      I tried to wash acrylic it in the skein but it's too tightly wound in the middle to get the wear it needs to soften. I've decided it's way too much trouble so the best way for ME is to finish the project and then wash/dry it in the machines to soften it. Works like a charm. Of course, this isn't possible with all natural fibers so I would wash, block, dry as suggested by manufacturer.

    What software do you use? It’s so interesting how much technology has improved. I know the time it takes from doing church bulletins and newsletters ages ago, that get tossed almost immediately.

      PowerDirector. And yes... technology has come a long way! I can't imagine how they used to do movies in the old days when they literally cut out WITH SCISSORS the parts they didn't want! Ha!

    I made that hat because of the video you introduced it in where you showed your purl bump mistake. I also have that mistake. How did you figure out what you did to cause it and how did you fix it? Thank you.

    • @sheepishlysharing
      @sheepishlysharing  Před 2 lety

      After you move that stitch marker over 2 stitches and "continue in pattern" she meant that you replicate the ribbing pattern just as it looks not as it's written. So you moved that marker over 2 stitches so when looking at the written pattern, start with the 3rd stitch so that knits go under knits and purls go under purls just as you were doing before. (Hard to write out!)
