    Essentials:
    Black Cocoa Powder: amzn.to/2XRNZor
    AmeriColor Super Black: amzn.to/3nGbLN8
    Ingredients:
1 Cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature
    3 1/2 Cups (420g) powdered sugar
1/4 Cup (30g) black cocoa powder
1/4 Cup (20g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
4 Tbsp whole milk, room temperature
    2 tsp pure vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp salt
    3/4 tsp AmeriColor Super Black
    Instructions:
    1. In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, whip the butter on medium speed until creamy and light in color, about 4 minutes. Scrape down the bowl and paddle, then add the powdered sugar, cocoa powders, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Turn the mixer to low until all ingredients start to come together.
    2. Add the black food color gel, increase the speed to medium and beat for two full minutes. The color will resemble wet concrete at first, but will darken as time goes on.
    3. Place the buttercream in an airtight container and allow the color to deepen for 24 hours or more.

Thanks for the super recipe. I tried it and worked it absolutely perfect. I also promoted your recipe on World of Buttercream cakes group when I posted my cake and members asked me how I achieved the black buttercream. Thanks so much for the perfect recipe. Do you have a similar recipe to get other dark colours. Someone asked me about red.

Thanks so much, Jacintha! That is so kind! Here's a video on how I achieve other buttercream colors like red: czcams.com/video/M92vVeQy3Fk/video.html

Hi! Will this buttercream hold up in 40° weather, worried it will melt? Also once you take it out of fridge do you whip again so no air bubbles?

  • @infires-man-yeahsope5131

what if you are only using black cocoa powdered, instead of using both unsweetened and black cocoa powder, how much will you need?

Hi there! If it's two layers then yes, if it's three layers I would make 1.5x or 2x the recipe depending on how you're decorating.

Can I still achieve a deep black without the black cocoa powder?

    • @SugarandSparrow
      @SugarandSparrow  Před 2 lety

You can! But the tradeoff there is that you'll need to add more black food color gel. Here's a recipe for chocolate buttercream without the black cocoa powder and then I would add about 2 tsp black food color gel to that: sugarandsparrow.com/chocolate-cupcakes-chocolate-buttercream/
