Listen Man. Regardless of how things turned out, Canibus pushed the boundaries of rapping. What he was doing was just really advanced. Nearly every feature or freestyles I heard from 97 was just Mind blowing. His concepts, extensive vocabulary, intricate rhyme patterns, complex phrases, cultural and scientific lyrics were really ahead of the curve. My favourite Canibus Song: Buckingham Palace. Just one example of the depth of his heavy wordplay.

The interesting thing about life is that the real will always prevail. Canibus is still regarded as one of the best lyricists of his era. He shined with Common. He had the standout verse on the firm joint. He has freestyles that make you wonder what type of mindset he was on. It is just a shame what this industry is about. That is Why Jay-Z had a moment of clarity to talk about Talib Kweli and Common. Salute to Canibus bro. For real. Even his recent work is something I gotta sit down with a dictionary.
Problem is his career went downhill so fast. Even being blackballed, I figured he would find a up and coming producer to showcase his talent and fine tune a sound for him.

Canibus is a spiritual and high intellect that has a super power rhyming talent. He don't want war.
Yeah his art is literally the art of rhyming. but he had a specialty in battle rhymes that very few could, not only top, but even see on that level
During an era when there were so many MC’s who were highly skilled lyricists, Canibus was at the top with the best of the best. He was straight up dangerous and was able to outshine any rapper who he jumped on a track with. Much respect to Canibus. I know I’m not alone in thinking that at his peak he was the best doing it and untouchable as a battle rapper.

The first time I heard Canibus back in 97,I was like who the fuck is this?? Since I didn't get the chance to experience the first time Rakim came out cuz i was a toddler then,,at least I got to experience a moment like that when I heard Nas "The World Is Yours" in 94 but by 97 when I fully got into rap music and was a teen,when I first heard Canibus..it was mindblowing to hear the lyrics he was spittin!.

I think in the grand scheme of things, Canibus won that. You can try to feed us the propaganda L, but ultimately Bus really elevated the whole game in that instance.
