This cake is absolutely beautiful. Hard as I've tried I don't care for matcha. This sounds like it would be wonderful with pistachio and cherry though.

I have made this cake (minus the cherry-flavored parts). Just green tea flavor. Delicious. I couldn't find mascarpone and had to substitute it with cream cheese. Worried a lot, but the filling turned out sublime.
