  • In this video on the build up of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the AutoEdits garage... I install a bunch of goodies on the rear end of the Jeep, including the MetalCloak License Plate and Third Brake Light Relocation Kit!
    The kit was a breeze to install and I recommend it as a Do It Yourself project for your rig.
    I also installed an accessory wing and "borrowed" a Daystar Cam Can from my good buddy Fred Williams as a spare fluid container plus I installed a Hi Lift Jack Mount that I will dial in later.
    After all of these easy installations...we head off into the mountains for a little more Off Road training and some testing on the upgrades so far!

    Not sure if you know this trick, but if you flip your rear-view mirror upside down, you'll get even better visibility out the back with the larger spare tire. Nice Jeep man, looks great. I run 35's on my 2dr JK with stock suspension, stock wheels with spacers, and the Xenon flat fender flares. Similar setup =)

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 7 lety +3

      I am going to try that mirror trick, thanks so much for the tip! I've been pretty happy with the performance so far with this setup. The only thing that really has made me cringe was last week in Death Valley I hit a cattle crossing at 60mph and jumped the thing about 40 feet at 4 or 5 feet high and it hit the bump stops VERY hard... oops. An extra few inches of travel would've been nice for that.

      +autoedit You're welcome! I really like the Black Rock series 952 rim. It's very deep with faux beadlocks. It has a nice classic look to it. The only downside to them is they are steel, so that's quite a bit of extra weight. It's worth it to me to have the exact look that I want, but if it's not for you then you should also check out the Fuel Trophy D552. Those will give your jeep a little different look while roughly keeping the same colors as the stock Rubicon wheels.

    How much flex do you think you lost by mounting the 37s and bumpstops on factory ride height? Do you still get a good amount? I love the amount of flex my '12 rubicon gives me with the factory 32s and I love your idea of biggest possible tire at lowest center of gravity, but I don't want to lose a bunch of suspension travel.

      I have a black 2 door jk and have nothing but dirt and mud trails where I live. No matter what color you have, the jeep will probably get scratched although it is a little more visible on a a black paint job. I can honestly say, if you have a nice layer of wax on, you won't be able to notice anything unless you're super close to it and in perfect lighting

    Living on the Monterey Peninsula, we watched SoCal burn last year, and this year. After the fires of 2016, did you find your old off-roading places to go in the hills completely destroyed or were they spared. Its now 2017, and SoCal is once again on fire; so are these same places in danger or have these been spared from the fire?

    • @AutoEdits

      My solution so far is to go on trips with other people that have Hi-Lift jacks. LOL My last trip that I did bring it... I mounted it to the roof rack with the Leitner designs mount and it worked great. If you catch any of the Trail to SEMA videos you'll see it up there.

    • @jasenjaz82
      @jasenjaz82 Před 7 lety +1

      Look better....most people who wheel don't care about looks. If it functions and he is able to tackle the trails that he wants to go down then it is all good. Plus keeping the stock geometry in the suspension is optimal for a daily driver-weekend rider. Lower center of gravity helps keep those wheels planted.

      +autoedit Hi! I really like your jeep and the way you work at it! are you sure you want to lift it, as it looks like you don't need to?

    Everything looks great. Is there another name for this trail? I can't seem to find it on Google Maps and I want to try it out.

      The sign calls it Drinkwater Trail and it starts off of San Fransiscito Rd does that help?

    Are you sure you have the sway bar disconnected? Look like it was working under the front pretty good.

    I notice you put new inner fenders, can you give a review on them???

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 7 lety

      Not much to review, they fit perfect and let more air out of the engine bay to keep it cool but don't let mud splash in. I like them!

    Time to add the air compressor from ARB so you can air down on the trail.

    You said the sway bar disconnect on but @ 11:35 you can see it traveling with the suspension. Is it not working then?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 6 lety

      +see_me_rolin 72 The electronic disconnect happens in the middle of the bar so the ends move independently

    You could always mount the jack to the hood

      @schmonkeeshomky5386 Před 7 lety

      I agree. I never understand the struggle when there's an easy solution. But, aesthetically, maybe it's ugly to some. I like it. Makes the jeep look beefy and rugged.
