One for the road. At 3:08 #21 is Jim Baker at the fabulous Reading Fairgrounds. The track closed in June of 1979 I think they built a Boscov's there. I'm waiting for them to tear down a department store to build a race track. If I remember correctly this car was a deep orange color. Nice!
Fabulous race cars!!! Real men raced real cars back then.you actually could tell what kind of car it was----not now..thanks for the outstanding pictures!!!

Started racing in Iowa about the time the coupe and coaches were on their way out. What is interesting the cars in Minn, Wisc and Iowa ran no front fenders and part of a hood. Good stuff!
That is definitely a Chrysler Kit Car at 1:55, ordered from Chrysler assemble yourself, I believe Petty Enterprises had a hand in the design or distribution, that was a long time ago.
Grew up in Cedarburg Wisconsin, lived at the clay oval every Wednesday night, starting in 65 at about 7 years old. It’s the greatest thing in the world to have a track in your back yard , SMELLS beautiful 🤩, sounds beautiful. Now I live in Plymouth Wisconsin, we have a clay oval, and Road America , 5 miles away 😁😁😁😁, PISTONS, Love Pistons
@@ItsonlyaJimmy Thank you. Made the trek there once from Chicago in the late '80's. Sorta remember Eagle but the night before Sunset we went to Park Jeff. Can't remember the Friday night track we went to.
Yes Dick Trickle was good him and Larry Phillips put on some spectacular races at the Fairgrounds Speedway and rolla Speedway in Missouri! NASCARs supposedly greatest drivers could sure of took a lesson from both of them!
Thanks for showing these photos👍they are a great collection🤩so I've subbed and am sure your providing me with a lot of references for the models I make. 🤩. Best wishes from jolly old England. 👍. 🤓Pete 😎
Max, you never fail to deliver! Another good one! Thought it was kind of funny near the start with that Monte Carlo that had MOPAR on the hood WTF! The 60’s and 70’s era stuff is my favorite, but I enjoy it all! Thanks for taking the time to put these things together! You must be a Dick Trickle fan because you’ve put that Tee-Pee Supper Club car in several of these!
@@steveashworth6707 It’s a shame he’s gone! There’s a lot of people that believe that his self inflicted death was a result of concussions he may or may not have realized he had from crashes over the years. Been quite a few cases of this type of thing over the years, and groups like NASCAR are just now starting to acknowledge the risks from one, or even worse multiple, concussions. Eric McClure was another recent example.
0:21 Iowa legend Gary Webb, 0:27 Not sure who was driving the Brannon-Neltner#75 but that's Billy Moyer next to them 0:48 Crane Mo.'s Ken Essary? 1:35 Bay Darnell? 2:12 West Liberty IA veteran whose 1st name I've forgotten but his last name is Stewart and is that # 42 Doug Kenemer?
Was the B - N #75 driven by Ray Guss Jr at that time? The 17 from WL was Tony? Stewart, inventor of the Paw Saver steering wheel. The 42 is Kenimer in my opinion the greatest of all time in dirt late models.
Wow I’m the sixty nineth, I’ll be glad when it hit 77, lolll, I love doing that , lololol, thanks, I need to get my ol 1938 Chevy jalopy going , and it needs to be done before it’s all over , or 20 dollars a gallon for gasoline, lolol, it’s 5 dollars a gallon now out here in some spots , thanks BigAl California.praise Jesus grace Christ amen.

Back when it was real stock car racing, every town that was worth its salt had a track. Fading fast , never to be seen again 🎱👀🎱🇺🇸
Very nice, real honest to God race cars.
Friend, you've found some amazing pictures. Thank you
Thank you Steve! More to come!
Another great one! My buddy Dick Freeman in the #2 Mercury at Dayton Speedway @1:35
My dad worked at Sunset Speedway back in the late 80s early 90s. Best years of my life.
Sunset was a fantastic race track and Craig Kelley was a great promoter.
Sunset in Omaha? On Sunday?
@@richardrice8076 Yes Sunset Speedway. Sunday night every weekend. And also Eagle Raceway on Saturday nights.

I actually raced against Dick Trickle in columbus back when he had the white knight on the side of his car!, one helluva good guy!.
