    this is easily the best review for this washer on youtube. there is so many people that don't know what they're doing or know how to maintain it that leave bad reviews on amazon. it's pretty simple... don't use garbage gas that's been sitting for months, use decent oil FOR the type of engine when you do an oil change every year, use a pump guard to prevent corrosion and to lubricate the insides between seasons and use a fuel additive for storage. that's about it. general rules for any gas pressure washer

    Got my pressure washer you recommended and all the accessories. What a powerful machine. The surface cleaner does just the trick. Will never use to clean horizontal concrete surface without it. I am very impressed with the power. I have a 3500 psi with Honda engine that I have had for 10 or 15 years. It is too much of a hassle to use. Very heavy and cumbersome. Thanks for the recommendation.

    It seems to me that Amazon has tripled the warranty coverage for 3 years as opposed to you getting the same coverage for 15.
    Having said that, my question is would you still purchase it from Amazon? Another great educational video sir. Keep em coming.

    Hi Doc. I was just looking at CZcams videos the other day because I was bored on a rainy day. I must have watched a half a dozen of your videos. Great job on presentation by the way. I didn't do my sidewalks or deck last year and the are looking filthy. So I just ordered from Amazon a new Simpson sprayer, the K Archer surface cleaner , longer wand, Zero G hose, & the other add ons. I can't wait for spring to get busy. I just had 250' of new cedar fence replaced and now have a better idea on how to maintain it. I'm 70 and hope this one will last the rest of my life.

    The ethanol issue is a issue with US gas only because regular octane pump gas has no stabilizers in it. The ethanol separates from the fuel in about a month and you're basically then trying to run your small engine on gasoline with no octane booster. So it basically knocks itself to death in short order. Most foreign countries import their gas so in order to ship it across the ocean they put stabilizers in it and the ethanol does not separate.
    It's basically the same as Premium pump gas in the USA. Of course my father had told me when I was young to always run premium in small engines to prevent knocking and damaging them so I never had any ethanol problems. I also add marvel's mystery oil to all my small engine gas to help de-carbon them and I don't remember the last time I had a plug go bad on a small engine, or a carb clog up.

    I use Tru Fuel in all my outdoor equipment. It’s sold at Lowe’s and Home Depot the premixed for edger, etc. has no ethanol in it so the shelf life is two years. For my mower and power washer I buy 5 gallons through a local outdoor equipment dealer. Since I have used it in my mower it starts on the first crank consistently. It’s a little pricey but worth it for me to save the headache of dealing with ethanol gas.

      Mate, just call around some gas stations to see who carries non ethanol gas at the pump. You'd be surprised how many will have a single dedicated pump with non ethanol. I live east of Atlanta and pay $3.55 a gallon instead of buying Tru Fuel for around $20 a gallon. I run my mower and wood chipper on it.

    Like all your videos, this one is just awesome! I ordered this machine and other items (off your Amazon link). The machine arrived today and I was able to get a little driveway washing done this evening. One thing I added to mine was quick disconnects (available at Lowes or probably just about anywhere and buy the paired male/female version). These make removing the hose a snap. We use our pressure washer as often in the winter as the summer since we live in the snow and get a lot of salt and sand, snow and ice, on the drive and in the garage. So it seems pointless to winterize. My $300 Excell was never cared for and it lasted 13 years before the pump went bad. Yes, I never even changed the oil. Since the pump seems to be the weak link then I didn't see much point taking care of the engine. Hopefully this unit will be as durable.

    Hey Doc,
    I purchased the pressure washer you recommended on your website, from Amazon. Simpson MSH3125-S with Honda GC 190 Engine. When I got the unit I noticed that it does not have a fuel shut off valve. I called Simpson and they told me this model with the Honda engine has never had a fuel shut off valve. Not sure if you’ve ever ran into this before. Do you know if a fuel shut off valve can me installed without voiding any warranties. Or should I return this one and buy a different one… Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Doc, Great videos. But in your WHAT SIZE video, you said the ONE THING YOU REQUIRE is a fuel line shut off valve. Then in your SIMPSON REVIEW video, you reluctantly address that their unit doesn't include the fuel line shut off valve. I can see the pain in your endorsement as you search for a solution. Has Simpson fixed this deficiency? It's also notable that you address that Simpson's wand is too short, no attached reservoir for soap, the hose connector needs modifying and no surface cleaner. What pressure washer do you recommend that has the fuel shut off valve?

    • @billfischer8447
      @billfischer8447 Před 4 lety +4

      On engines with a gravity fed fuel tank a fuel shut off is desired. This is not a gravity fed tank on the GC190. This HONDA engine uses a fuel pump and the fuel doesn't flow without the engine turning over. There is no deficiency.

  • @tilu3303
    @tilu3303 Před 4 lety

    Hey Doc, I don't know if you're still monitoring this thread, but I'll take a shot at it.
    Based largely on your very informative and positive review, I bought this unit from Amazon about 18 months ago. Due to some remodeling and such, I didn't want to take it out of the box until I was going to be able to use it, so it got buried.
    About 3-4 weeks ago, I started it up for the first time and used it for about an hour in a trouble-free manner with great results. Today I got it out for a second time and was about 2 hours into a 3-hour project, when the motor just shut off as if I had used the kill switch, which I hadn't. My 24-year old son had been at the helm of a surface cleaner (Karcher 15-inch 3200 psi) and when I checked it out I noticed the main nut securing the spindle to the housing was loose. I wondered if that could've restricted flow enough to get the pump hot which in turn could've caused the engine to cut out. I asked my son if he noticed anything change that could've indicated reduced flow before it cut out and he said he didn't know for sure but he might have.
    I waited about 5 minutes and tried to start the engine again. It started and ran for at most 2 seconds and then cut out again. Successive cooler attempts have not gotten so much as a sputter, almost like there is no spark or no fuel. Being that I've only run it for 3 hours total on brand new gas and it never sputtered even once, I find it hard to believe that a clogged carburetor jet could be the culprit. Being a newbie at pressure washers - I don't know if I might've just gotten a lemon and I'm out the purchase price (I remember I was going to get the 3-year warranty, but I see no record of in the Amazon order details).
    Any thoughts?

      Mike, when I back the wand off it does reduce the "cut in" into the fence... Issue with that is the fence does not get very clean. I'm thinking I should have followed my gut and purchased Doc's OLD Model... A Toro 2600 with the Honda Motor.

      Treat it with 30 second cleaner full strength. Wait 5 minutes... then wash off. Some "cutting" is normal, but should not be noticeable really.

      DOC I went to Lowes and purchased a new Surface MAXX Professional 40 degree tip $9.98...and problem solved. The orifice of the 40 Degree tip that came with the Simpson 3200 PSI washer is oval in shape and not round. Heck it wouldn't even remove dried bird droppings. I put the new tip in and I have ZERO cut in at the edges of the pattern. The difference in the 2 tips is night and day. Tomorrow I think I will go buy the 25 and 15 degree tips as replacements. I cannot express the difference between these tips and my wife suggested that I post a video to show the difference. I'll leave that business up to you...lol

    Doc, just bought the 3200 PSI model, is it safe to use on vehicles? I'm afraid if I do it will strip the paint right off in the process!
    Anyone have experience with this?

      Amazon offers 2 - 3 year warranty on it. You have to select either one of them before purchasing it. I just got mine today with the 2 year warranty from amazon but 3 years is not $15 anymore.

    There's a similar looking Simpson with a Kohler RH265 motor. Is this Honda equipped one that much better engine wise?

    Why not using ethanol-free fuel? I used ethanol-free fuel for all of my small engines.

    Quick question: I noticed a few reviews discussing how this washer dances in a circle while running. Do you see this as a con? I saw your unit acting in the same manor.

      Jokers Ride mp4l, OMG yes, this thing has serious balls. Just a heads up, with the “zero” tip on the gun you can actually cut into the cement if u hold it in on a spot for more than a few seconds. I sprayed an aluminum shed(ya know them flimsy-ish sheds they sell at Home Depot or Craftsman, ahh I mean Lowes😝) and dented it all up. It’s a ton of power all directed into ONE lil stream with the “0” tip. Be careful, I really think you will have NO complaints unless your one of them people that bitch about EVERYTHING!

    Hey Doc, +UCtpdUcJ3jBHxbkgUzRHuReg
    I have had issues unscrewing the OEM hose from the unit. I even ruined the first hose and Simpson sent me a replacement. I am having the same issue. The brace threads seem stuck. Is it normal not to be able to unscrew the OEM hose from the pump?

    • @HowTowithDoc

      Make sure ALL the pressure is out... press the handle... also I spray mine with white lithium lube.

    That extention for that washer your recommending has terrible reviews. I went ahead and ordered 1 for my own judgment. If it fails its going back so no biggie. I didn't know if you were aware.
