When I first saw the title of this song my mind flashed to today's actual church scene... Neon churches, playing concerts of self worship with all the fake smoke and flashing lights, giving self help messages to their congregations believing somehow that focusing on ourselves is what will make people desire to know God. I thought, "Oh dear God Tim... No. Please no." But here again is another song that tells the story from the outside looking in. I was a neon church attender for most of my life, because that is where I was accepted as I was. Surrounded by people who understood my pain, even if they didn't know about it. People who were just trying to get along in a world that landed us all in the same place for different reasons, doing the same things for different reasons, looking for the same thing for the same reason. To just be loved and accepted as we are, and finding it there... In a smoke filled room of "sinners", getting drunk, singing loud, and carrying on just for the joy of being together. "The Church" has become so far removed from the world, it seems to have forgotten the base desire in every heart created is to Love and be Loved. That those people the pastor tell you "not to be like because they are unrighteous sinners, who might taint your perspective or person by even getting close to them", are the very first ones Jesus ran to and accepted just as they were. No question of who they were, where they had come from, or why they were doing what they were doing. Just Love. And that is the thing that we have all misunderstood. The cross is not the symbol or proof of God's Love for us, that we now have to "choose" and follow some stupid set of rules to be able to experience it. God's Love was already proven through His choice to send His Son to die for us in the first place. How could we even choose Love, if Love had not chosen us first? The cross is the proof that we are forgiven... Every single one of us. No matter who you are, where you have been, where you stand, or which kind of neon church you attend. You are Loved, and there has never been a moment of your life that you were not Loved by the One Who created you.
Sing it Tim. So real and true. That is what sets you apart. The emotion in your voice. Great Song 👍🎵

This is a wonderful song thank you for making the song the video is as true as it can get I suppose... we all have a dark side now don't we? You've brought too light a side that a lot of people refuse to accept ... I think in today's world most Christians live a neon question is will God accept it??...you have brought me through so much in my life... I'm from Wildwood New Jersey...but i recently moved to Norfolk Virginia around Christmas time....Everyone is very sweet and friendly here...i haven't met a mean person yet...but they do drive crazy on the main highway here. 😊 😉
