Hello and welcome to another episode of the TROLLED series! The series where we are showing that it can be a lot of fun to look like an idiot! The level that's making me look like an idiot today is called "oh no shinies are banned" made by 50ft lock!

That first one was probably one of the best troll levels I've seen yet. It trolls you, but it also knows how to say "ok, I got you, now do it this way", which is much better than a lot of unforgiving troll levels where it's nearly impossible to figure out.
Hint: do these 3 steps

I’m pretty sure the goombrat gave 8000 points because you already had a streak of hitting enemies. Landing on the wall stopped that streak.
That's exactly what happens in the level. If you watch the score carefully, you can see exactly when he bonks a bunch of goomrats.
OMG I didn’t notice that. That is brilliant.
13:29 You hit enough enemies to trigger the 200, 400, 800, 1000, 2000, and 4000 point bonuses. If you just go straight for the claw, the goombrat gives you 8000 and puts your score above 15K. Touching the ground resets this bonus back to 200, so by touching the ground before jumping on the guy you reset the enemy streak and keep the score under the 15K threshold.
I think Dave likes that singlet a lot more after yesterday. He wore it over the hotdog suit, as a deal to get out of doing the hotdog dance like 5 times.

I know why the goombrat gives you 8000 the first time but when you jump on the ledge it gives you 200. On your way up on the twisters, at the bottom there must be some sort of entity giving you points, and since when you get inside the claw you never touch the ground so the points still stack. However once you landed on the ledge, the point stack reset and went back to 200.
You can see that with the score.
That can be a recurring problem for everyone. So if killing 100 spines give you 200 points than it would give you 1000000 points when you kill with star 🌟.

14:40 You have to restart the level though, as touching the flagpole brought you far over 15k. That way the level designer created an endless loop. You can only play that one level for all eternity now.
I think that the intended play of the first level included the flag pole score at the end. Dave grabs a 1-up at the beginning that is slashed out, adding an extra 1000 points. At the end a player could land on the opposite side of the flagpole and walk to the lowest point, which would produce a lower score. I'm not sure of the final points system, but I think that would leave it at under 15000points. That is also what is so great about that random 1-up---it happens so early on and so quickly that you can miss it, just to reach the end and realize you are 1000 points over.

Not sure. Pretty sure when Geek played it, she did not count any points acquired from getting the flagpole. (The entire idea is to restart if you have 15k, that's not possible if you've already beaten the level)
As far as the flagpole, remember that he got the 1-up which meant he got no points from the flagpole itself. The points he gets are from the spinies (there's 3 of them, which explains the 7k point jump). But if he went past the pole and walked back... not only would get now get points from the flagpole, pretty sure at least 1 more spiny would spawn which would then add another 8k points on top of it. So that'd be a bad idea.

Did the score in fact matter though? What was stopping you from bouncing on the goombrat for 8000 and then going through the door and winning? It looks like he just made the score go over 15,000 when you did something wrong, but what actually stopped you from moving on (in every other case) was some other result of what you did wrong, not the score...
The concept of the level is what's called a "Fourth Wall Rule"
There's nothing physically stopping him, but the rules state to reset at 15k points
Not all fourth wall rules impact progress, one of the funnier ones was having to play the level with inverted colours enabled, but the funniest one imo was just not being allowed to go left, right at the start there was a door to the end, but you can't reach it with the rule, you have to go the long way

I miss information that first level Dave played (as well as some in the past) participated in "4th wall content" where creators were supposed to create a level with some non-standard rule like "no left button", "no restart", "too much points" etc.

the goombrat score troll works that way because Mario kills multiple enemies offscreen without touching the floor going that way (that's why the score rises to 10000) and if Mario doesn't touch the floor before killing the goombrat the combo is continued

Please explain the point-system trick. How is this working, for dummies?
You get more and more points for each enemy you jump on in a row without landing, until you eventually start getting 1-ups. Mario jumped on several ennemies offscreen right before getting springed into the claw without breaking the combo, so if you jump on the Goombrat without landing on the platform first, you get 8,000 points.
That also explains why the score shoots up during the setup.
My question is, is that really a trick that blocks you from finishing the stage if you go over 15000?
@@chanwantai6125No there's no way for level creators to get the player's score, unless it's in a very controlled environment which isn't really the case here.
It’s all about killing enemies off screen that you can’t see
This level was created for Geek's 4th wall rule contest. Which gave creators a single rule that Geek had to follow while playing the level. There is nothing preventing you from finishing the level while breaking the rule. Its just player's own conscience if they want to play the level the way creator designed it

I see, so the whole points thing that seems to be the highlight of the video based on the title and description is totally optional rather than a requirement. If a non enforceable rule, such as try not to laugh, is written, I say ignore it if it takes away from the fun! Fun is better than following a random rule from the creator.
The level is way more fun if you follow the rule. Assuming you think it's fun when the level creator pulls the rug out from under you. If you ignore the rule, you won't be amazed when you get 8000 points for stomping a single goombrat, and you won't be amazed when standing on the ledge first changes how many points you get.
